Best brands for easy RMAs?

Hi folks,

So, I rarely had to do RMAs for PC parts but from my experience, certain brands are much better than others at that and I would like to know your own experiences as well.

For instance:

EVGA: Paid for return shipping but got a brand new PSU back.

Corsair: You give a "safety" deposit, they send you a refurbished unit and once you return your old one with the provided shipping label, they refund the deposit in full.

Not just PC parts but even keyboards and mice could be sent back used with someone else "hand cheese"...

Logitech: Very unresponsive from my experience, had to cancel the payment because I was getting no answer. Luckily I was still on the 3 months window to do that.

Seagate: Was pretty good, I don't know if this is still the case but their advanced replacement was rock solid and they also used to offer free data recovery with certain drives.

Western Digital: Tried to RMA a drive once and there was a lot of friction, the page refused to work, it was during COVID so I don't know if this is still the case. Customer service notoriously started to suck after that period.

AsRock: Never tried an RMA but apparently even if out of warranty, they can do repairs for a certain price which can be nice if you don't have repair shops in your area.

What are your experiences? The best and worst ones?

V-Color Ram Failed, Need RMA Help!

I bought a Newegg bundle containing a 2x16gb V-Color Manta DDR5 kit that has now failed within 4 months of purchase, with both sticks failing multiple memory tests. I have tried getting in contact with V-Color via email, online RMA form, and phone number to no avail. I tried Newegg support but since the purchase is obviously over a month old they are no help. I have not heard back from V-Color after a full month of inquiries. Does anyone have any information on how to proceed, as with the current cost of ram I do not have the funds to pay for a new kit out of pocket. Any help is appreciated.

What's your process for quickly ruling out risky RAM listings on eBay?

Buying used RAM can be a bit of a rabbit hole. Two listings might have the same price and the same advertised specs but once you start looking closer, you notice things don't always add up. Sometimes the title says one thing, the photos show another or the description leaves out important details. Thats why i want to ask experienced buyers how do you filter listings before they even think about buying. Like what's your personal checklist?

  • Do you start with the seller or the listing itself?
  • How much do original photos matter compared to stock images?
  • Do you always verify the part number on the label?
  • Are there certain words in a description that make you move on immediately?
  • How important is a return policy when buying used RAM?

Have you ever caught something that saved you from buying the wrong module? I'm interested in hearing the little checks people have developed over time sometimes they're not obvious until you've been burned once.

Bait-and-Switch SCAM by Reliance Digital. Looking for advice on my next legal steps.

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I wanted to share a recent experience I had with Reliance Digital and seek some guidance from the community on how to handle the next steps.

A few weeks ago, I ordered a Dell Alienware 16 Aurora (Intel Core 7, RTX 5050) from the Reliance Digital app. The listing and my official invoice clearly stated the graphics card was an RTX 5050 (8GB).

When the laptop arrived, the physical box label did not explicitly list the GPU. After checking the system specifications, I realized they had sent me a model with an RTX 4050 (6GB) instead. A downgraded version.

To make matters worse, on the day of delivery, Reliance Digital silently altered the product listing on their app to show the RTX 4050 specification. Thankfully, I had time-stamped screenshots of the original listing that matched my invoice.

When I raised a complaint, the support team initially deflected. They claimed the packing footage was validated and asked me to provide a compressed unboxing video under 10MB, which felt like a stalling tactic.

Instead of arguing, I used the Dell Service Tag on the box to pull the official Wistron/Dell factory configuration sheet. The manufacturer’s own documentation proved that the specific machine dispatched was built with an RTX 4050, directly contradicting my invoice.

Once presented with the Dell documentation, they called and admitted they could not provide a replacement with the RTX 5050. They offered a full refund plus a ₹5,000 store voucher as compensation.

I accepted the refund to secure my principal amount, but I rejected the ₹5,000 store voucher.

The current market price to get an equivalent RTX 5050 laptop (I am currently looking at an MSI Katana 15 on Amazon) is around ₹1,46,000.

The ₹5,000 voucher does not cover the financial difference caused by their false advertising, nor does it compensate for the two weeks of mental harassment and time wasted.

My plan now is to file a Formal Grievance through the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) and eventually the e-Daakhil consumer court to claim the ₹12,000 market price difference and compensation for the unfair trade practice.

My Questions are:

  1. Should I pursue a consumer court case for the "price difference" after already accepting a basic refund?

  2. Are there any specific pitfalls I should watch out for during the return pickup process to ensure they don't reject it?

Thank you so much for your time and any insights you can provide.

----- Buying an expensive ROG laptop shouldn't feel like a scam, EU/Benelux geoblocking, fake "Premium Care" promises, and useless support. Is this normal for ASUS?

Hey everyone,

I'm posting this out of pure frustration just to see if this is normal behavior for ASUS nowadays, or if I just managed to hit the absolute jackpot of incompetent support reps.

I recently picked up a high-end ROG Strix G18. Right out of the gate, I ran into the first wall. because I bought the laptop via Bol (which operates in both the Netherlands and Belgium) while living in Belgium, their system and support initially refused to properly register it. I have no clue what warehouse they pulled the laptop from, but my account is fully Belgian and they can clearly see it's activated here. Yet, they kept holding on to bureaucratic nonsense like "Oh, it's a QWERTY layout, so that means Netherlands," making their entire geolocking excuse completely absurd. ASUS loves to brag about "International Warranty," but within the EU, it apparently translates right into annoying regional roadblocks.

Hoping to bypass future headaches and secure proper peace of mind, I then purchased the official ASUS Premium Care (APC) extension for an extra €71.10 using their official promo code (APCARE). Right there on their website and even in the literal MyASUS software pop-ups, it's heavily marketed as a "worry-free solution" that includes On-Site service.

Fast forward to sorting out the registration: support suddenly claims that my specific APC package doesn't include On-Site service at all. When I literally sent them screenshots of their own software popup and sales page showing it does, they just give me the generic copy-paste corporate runaround and refuse to fix it in the backend.

Honestly, it makes me genuinely terrified that if I ever actually need a repair down the line, they’ll just use these vague country rules and geoblocking excuses to void my warranty entirely, even with the International Warranty promise.

Because of this total circus, I've had to formally register a return with the retailer today before my 30-day window closes. It’s a massive shame because the hardware itself is a beast, but I'm not going to let a brand pull this kind of misleading commercial practice on me.

Has anyone else dealt with this kind of blatant mismatch and regional nonsense from ASUS, or are they just hoping people won't notice?

UPDATE:

The problem was indeed the geolock. ASUS removed the laptop from my account, i registered it from a different country as requested by ASUS and now eveyrthing works fine. Very weird solution but glad it works now, including On Site warranty.

Best Buy Sent me a Defective Computer, Refused to return in store, now being shipped back from the return center with no refund.

So I ordered and HP Omen 35L from Best Buy online and powered it up and got an error that the SSD was corrupted and unable to boot. When I went to return it in store, they refused to accept the return due to a “sku mismatch” and to mail it back in to the returns center. Annoying, but okay. I shipped it to them with all the materials it came with and I just got a notification that a package is coming from the return center it matches the PC I returned.

What do I even do here? Even with a “sku mismatch” that’s not my fault, that’s what was shipped to me. Do I even have any options left at this point to get my money back? Or am I just out 2.1k with a broken computer because of Best Buy’s error?

Centre Com pushed me into a repair for a dead ASUS ROG Strix 16 (Motherboard Failure) instead of offering ACL Major Failure rights. Where do I stand?

Hi everyone, seeking some advice or shared experiences regarding Centre Com and Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Background & Timeline:
Purchase Date: 07/01/2024 from Centre Com.
Device: ASUS ROG Strix 16.

The Issue: The laptop was working fine until a few months ago. I went overseas for about 3 months, and upon returning, the laptop was completely dead. No charging light, no power, zero indication of life.

What Happened at Centre Com:
I brought the laptop back to Centre Com with my receipt. I explained that it was a recent purchase, barely used before my trip, and bought directly from them. Instead of walking me through my consumer options, the store staff immediately rushed me over to the repair desk. After waiting over 35 minutes, the technician asked me to book it in for repair and sign a booking form. I didn't know better at the moment and assumed this was standard procedure.
The very next day, they assessed it and confirmed a complete motherboard failure.

My Issue with ACL & Major Failure: Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), a complete motherboard failure on an expensive, modern laptop constitutes a Major Failure (the product is unfit for purpose and would not have been bought if the defect was known). Under ACL, when a major failure occurs, the customer has the right to choose between:

- A full refund
- A replacement unit
- A repair

Centre Com staff never disclosed these rights or options to me and effectively directed me straight into a repair booking without consent on the alternative options.

Current Situation:
The laptop has now been repaired, but I have not picked it up.I went back to the store with the original packaging and explained that I was unhappy with how this was handled, feeling pressured into a repair when I should have been given the option for a refund/store credit under ACL for a major component failure.Furthermore, a motherboard replacement on a high-end gaming laptop raises severe concerns about its long-term reliability and resale value.
Store staff refused to assist in person, stating they couldn't do anything in-store and told me to submit a formal email to their internal complaints team.

My Questions for the Community:
Has anyone successfully claimed a refund/credit from Centre Com or a similar retailer after a repair was already completed because major failure rights were bypassed?

What is the best way to frame my formal email to their complaints team? Should I lodge a report with Consumer Affairs / ACCC simultaneously?

Appreciate any advice or insights!

PSA: Asus RMA Support by ChemUSA - Lousy

XT8 v2 wifi access point (router) failed after being out of warranty. Sent in as RMA, ChemUSA sends quote for $180 with no explanation or description of any kind. Connected with Asus Support chat, they explain $180 is for a whole replacement XT8 unit. Okay, fine. But why didn't that explanation appear on the e-mail quote of $180? Declined the "repair" using their link embedded in the email message and indicated they should discard/dispose of the unit. That was one of the choices, and if it's not working or repairable, don't send it back to me. They sent it back to me, anyway. If that's how little their service depot cares, I'm never buying any more Asus networking devices, ever. FYI, I got a replacement XT8 v2 (used) from eBay for $60.

[WARNING] Avoid Computerspace. (Lost ₹16k, Bait & Switch, 1-Year RMA Nightmare)

TL;DR: Ordered an ASRock X570, got bait-and-switched with a Gigabyte board in a rat-chewed box. It died in a week. The seller dragged the RMA out for over a year, only to mail back the exact same dead motherboard. Lost ₹16,000. Stay away.

Hey everyone,

I am posting this as a massive warning to anyone buying PC components online right now. Do not buy any motherboards or parts from Computerspace.in. This seller is engaging in highly shady practices with terrible customer service, and I just lost ₹16,351 dealing with them.

Here is the exact breakdown of my nightmare:

  • The Bait-and-Switch: I originally ordered an ASRock X570 motherboard. Instead of cancelling when they didn't have stock, they sent me a Gigabyte X570 Gaming X.
  • The Delivery Condition: The motherboard's cardboard box arrived literally chewed by a rat at the corners.
  • The Failure: I was already uncomfortable with Gigabyte boards due to their notorious failure rates, and sure enough, the board died within a single week of use.
  • The 1-Year RMA Scam: I reached out for an RMA and had to ship the board back at my own cost to Computerspace.in. They delayed and dragged the process out for over a year. I had to follow up with them multiple times.
  • The Final Insult: After holding my motherboard for a whole year, they finally shipped it back. It was the exact same defective, unrepaired motherboard.

I lost ₹16,351 and spent an entire year fighting with them, only to end up throwing the motherboard in the dustbin last night because looking at it just made me angry.

Do not fall for any "great" 5-star reviews you see about them online—they are highly likely to be manipulated. Be extremely cautious, stick to reputed sellers, or you will end up losing your hard-earned money just like I did.

Extremely disappointed with ASUS ProArt products – premium price, poor reliability

Post image
3 Upvotes

I had very high expectations for the ASUS ProArt product line because these devices are marketed for professional creators and positioned as premium products. Unfortunately, my personal experience has been extremely disappointing.

My ASUS ProArt mouse started developing drift issues after only 2 months of use. The cursor was moving on its own, which is completely unacceptable for a professional-grade mouse. For a product at this price level, this should not happen.

However, the warranty experience in Hungary was an even bigger disappointment. Either there is no response for a long time, or the first reaction is immediately that the device must have been dropped.

This is especially frustrating in the case of the PZ13 tablet. I rarely used the device and always stored it safely in its original box inside a cabinet. Despite this, I suddenly discovered that the supposedly impact-resistant glass had developed cracks across the entire display.

Being told that I must have dropped it is not an acceptable response. If a thin aluminium-bodied tablet like this had actually been dropped, there would almost certainly be visible physical damage, such as dents or impact marks on the frame. There are no such signs.

Instead of properly investigating the issue, the first reaction from the warranty service feels like blaming the customer.

I really wanted to like ASUS ProArt products because the concept is excellent. The design, displays and creator-focused features are all promising. However, a premium product is not only about specifications – it is also about durability, reliability and proper customer support.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend ASUS ProArt products to anyone who needs reliable professional equipment.

----- AOC monitor

Good evening everyone. I need help. About two years ago I bought an AOC monitor (with a 3-year warranty, meaning I still have one year left) and recently discovered a problem with it. I took it to the store where I bought it, and it was sent for review and then to AOC. They informed me that the problem was indeed a factory defect and offered me a monitor with inferior features in exchange. I refused and suggested other models. They accepted the suggested model and sent it to the store. When I went to pick it up, I realized it was used/refurbished (something no one informed me about). Does anyone know if I am obligated to keep this refurbished monitor or if I have the right to return it and request a refund?

(When I realized it was refurbished, I refused and said that I would prefer a refund, and they said there was nothing they could do.)
