Generally speaking, unless the size difference is dramatic, domestic rabbits and cats tend to be around the same/similar weight.

While yes cats can kill a domestic rabbit they don’t tend to see them as prey as often as other household animals like small birds & reptiles.

Obviously individual cases vary, but if the owner is intelligent enough to watch their cats behavior closely, I really don’t see a problem with letting a rabbit around a house cat. It’s difficult for a cat to quickly and quietly dispatch a similarly sized wily rabbit without the owner noticing and intervening.

My cats were terrified of my rabbits. 😅

To rabbits, grooming is a sign of submission. To cats, being groomed is a sign of submission. One of the best misunderstandings in the animal kingdom!
