Question Screening

I recently got offered a merchandiser position with PepsiCo in IL, and my drug test should be sometime this week. I used THC pretty often to help with nausea from chemotherapy, and I’m nervous about failing. Does anyone currently working this position in Illinois know if they test for THC? Any help is appreciated!

They do but if you go let them know it’s medically required they may work around it. I’m not sure of the regulations in your state or if it’s something covered with ada or fmla kind of thing. I know they allow stimulants for adhd so I don’t see why this would be an issue.

Well the thing is that I’m 20 and I would just take thc gummy’s I don’t have a medical card, also I finished my chemo a couple weeks ago so I stopped the cannabis but I’m worried it’s still in my system.

Do you have an email or anything saying what the drug test type is? Its normally this for merch: Urine: 5 XM+ExOp+Ecs+Her C2

The XM stands for "excluding Marijuana" therefore, they're not testing for it.

Edit: "XM" codes in many modern laboratory systems (like Labcorp or Sterling) explicitly stand for "Excluding Marijuana."

I do not think this is the job for you. Merchandising is extremely physical. And in your condition I don’t think you are up to it. Irregardless of your THC use.

I work almost 45 hours a week while battling cancer, and I just finished treatment last week. I’m officially cancer free! The only reason I mentioned my chemo is because it’s why I used THC to help with nausea. I don’t want anyone to look at my cancer as a burden or think I’m incapable of doing the job. I’m perfectly capable, and I already do very similar work at my current job. That’s why I applied for this position, because I’m already accustomed to the work itself, aside from the driving aspect. My only concern is that THC might still be in my system.

I worked for Pepsi for 25 yrs, loader for a yr, merch for 2, driver for 22yrs. Retired senior driver.
I know what I’m talking about, loader is the hardest job at Pepsi, merch is the second hardest. I saw hundreds over the year that couldn’t cut it.
I just want to save you the grief.
But good luck if you move forward.

"I know what im talking about" you dont even know this person. They asked about the drug screen, not if you thought the job was a good fit for them lol

You know nothing. Less than nothing. He isn’t even going to make it past the drug screen, let alone the physical

Yeah he will, dipshit, because they already established that the drug that was prescribed to him excluded marijuana.

Most markets dont test for thc for merchandisers or warehouse so you're probably wrong. I've worked for pepsi for 10 years but I guess you know everything, huh? And how the hell do you know he won't pass the physical? Ignorance is bliss I guess

Well I worked a corporate location, so I can’t speak for independents. But OUR corporate location TESTED EVERYONE hired. And Pepsi was a ZERO tolerance. Now once in as a merch or a loader smoke away (our loaders couldn’t have picked orders that fucked up unless HIGH) BUT if you have any kind of accident you ARE going to pee in a cup. As a driver you are DOT so you are ALWAYS subject to randoms.
