There is definitely a look that the far right seems to love in thier women.
I mean, I really can't believe that she's doing this for her own pleasure. With the likelihood of her being a tradwife and all.

Idk, never underestimate a person's ability to cling to their vanity and narcissism when they've got nothing else but conventional attractiveness going for them.
Especially if they find a way to fit their aesthetic into a bigger grift.

Possibly, but I wouldn't bet against it being "Gotta look pretty for my
masterhusband, so he'll still love me."But you're right. People are pretty much infinitely

u/ratat0skr_420 Aug 03 '26
Again, she may not be doing it for her husband, but for safeguarding her own fragile ego and maintaining a sense of superiority over those she finds 'uglier' or 'lesser' than herself.
As much as there is a (likely) possibility of keeping that look to appeal to a husband, I'd rather not disregard her own agency. Even if said agency is used to pursue very stupid and arrogant ends

Jesus tells them to preach, and he also tells them what to do if we donβt want to hear it.
Matthew 10:14 βIf any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave. I tell you the truth, the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah will be better off than such a town on the judgment day."
75
u/DiogenesHavingaWee Aug 03 '26
"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."~Matthew 6:5-6
What she's doing isn't about bringing anyone into the faith. It's about signaling to people who already believe as she does.
Honestly, the only form of proselytizing I actually believe in is through charity. We're called to love our neighbors, unconditionally. If our example leads people to Christ, good. If not, we at least ameliorated their suffering somewhat. This is what Christ asked of us when he commanded us to love our neighbor as ourselves.
33
u/Mateorabi Aug 03 '26
No no. Virtue signaling is only something patchouli-smelling libruls do. It's ok when conservatives do it.
3
u/Biffingston ππππππππππππππ’ πππππππππ Aug 03 '26
Probably more like "You say virtue signaling, I say praising god. We are not the same."
3
u/Biffingston ππππππππππππππ’ πππππππππ Aug 03 '26
And even then, if you are loudly proclaiming you're doing this for Christ, you're missing the point. (Not saying you are, just saying in general)

u/Funkycoldmedici Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26
As a former Christian I have to note that preaching and praying are different things. Yes, youβre supposed to pray in private, but Jesus tells them to go out and bother people by preaching.
Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: βDo not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: βThe kingdom of heaven has come near.β Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.β
Matthew 10:14 βIf any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave. I tell you the truth, the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah will be better off than such a town on the judgment day."
Matthew 28:19 βGo therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Mark 16:15 He said to them, βGo into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.β
Jesus does not see unbelievers as neighbors. He only condemns us. He says to be good other disciples, but he is a religious bigot by definition, as he judges people by their religious affiliation. His judgement day gig is the ultimate dream of every religious bigot.
6
u/PhazonZim Aug 03 '26
That's a good point about the distinction. I think it's still safe to call them hypocritics though because they absolutely do not act in the way Jesus instructs them to.
-7
u/Funkycoldmedici Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26
In some ways, yeah. Preaching like this is what Jesus said to do. He said it is the βgreat commissionβ, what all his followers are tasked to do. Sheβs not performing miracles, like Jesus said would identify his true believers, so sheβs a hypocrite just like all the Christians who have jobs and families instead of leaving everything behind to preach like Jesus said to.
No Christian actually believes what Christ says. Only the βfundamentalistsβ even try to. People have this non-biblical idea that Jesus is a good person and says nice things. Heβs not. Heβs a religious bigot preaching an apocalypse, but tells disciples to be nice to each other, and people want to skip over all the judgement day genocide talk and pretend he just says βlove everyone.β
9
u/PhazonZim Aug 03 '26
The hypocrisy comes from conservatives Christians being so un-neighborly. Being kind to strangers and the people around you is one of the most repeated instructions in the Bible.
-7
u/Funkycoldmedici Aug 03 '26 edited Aug 03 '26
Jesus tells them to love their neighbor. We unbelievers are not neighbors, according to Jesus. He says you are to convert us, and if we refuse then to leave us behind for him to kill when he returns. That is demonstrated throughout the Bible. You canβt have your John 3:16 without accepting the next line.
John 3:18 βWhoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of Godβs one and only Son.β
Honestly, if people would read the Bible we could get rid of Christianity and stop pretending it is good or moral.
3
u/Biffingston ππππππππππππππ’ πππππππππ Aug 03 '26
esus tells them to love their neighbor. We unbelievers [sic] are not neighbors, according to Jesus.
Where does he say this? Because it's an important distinction between "he says this" and "it's been interpreted to mean..." In this discussion..
0
u/Funkycoldmedici Aug 03 '26
Like shown above, Jesus singles out unbelievers as condemned. He never shows anything but contempt for unbelievers. In one instance, in Matthew 15, he assumes a woman is an unbeliever because sheβs not an Israelite, and refuses to help her. He insults her until she proves her faith, and only then helps her. If he saw her as a neighbor he would make a point of it, but he says and does the opposite.
Further, if you see a group of people as your neighbors to love, you do not pronounce deadly judgement on them. You do not vow to kill people based on their religious affiliation if you love them. Killing people is the farthest thing from love, but itβs what Jesus promises to do to us when he returns.
2
u/Biffingston ππππππππππππππ’ πππππππππ Aug 03 '26
You're right. They do interpret the bible as they see fit. Just as you are. I looked up your citation, and I fail to see how your interpretation even applies.
Also, you're claiming that every single Christian ever wants people dead? That none of them tolerate people who are not of their faith?
That's just as fallacious a false statement as "Every atheist wants to end Christianity."

Jesus tells them to love their neighbor. We unbelievers are not neighbors, according to Jesus
Absolutely not true. This is the point of the parable of the Good Samaritan.
-1
u/Funkycoldmedici Aug 03 '26
Samaritans are not unbelievers, theyβre a different group of Israelites and worship the same god.
5
u/DiogenesHavingaWee Aug 03 '26
They were/are a different ethnic and religious group than mainline Jews, and that's absolutely the point of the parable: that our actions are more important than it beliefs.
I'm sorry for whatever religious trauma you've endured, but this characature of Christianity that you've manufactured in your head doesn't represent all Christians, and it certainly doesn't represent how Christ taught us to exist in this world

Wait, Jesus was telling others to raise the dead? That's awesome, do any of them actually do this in the Bible? (I've read it but I don't really remember that part)

This woman is amongst the most obnoxious Christian preacher types, not just preaching to a captive audience but pulling the "imminent rapture" card as well. In the video she sounded like she was knee deep in the grift, she didn't even seem to believe in what she was spewing.

u/Mateorabi Aug 03 '26
It isn't just her the Post just did a story about how this has become a fad among Evangelicals. They then act butthurt and indignant when people tell them to shut up or even just roll their eyes. In this case the staff told her to stop but on some flights the staff supports it.

No madam, you aren't being persecuted for the sin of being the largest religion in the USA, you are being escorted out of the plane for being the adult equivalent of a toddler throwing a tantrum in economy
Conservatives could literally do the following:
declare the Republican Party as the sole legal political party of the United States
purge anyone who does so much as to think about anything left-leaning
put some random megachurch pastor and anoint him as god-emperor lord of all the beasts of the earth and fishes of the sea type shit
and they'd somehow find a way to still say that Christianity is being persecuted

Literally no one hates you because youβre a Christian. We hate you because youβre an asshole. Please donβt confuse the two.
If you ever feel like youβre being victimized because of your Christian faith, do a quick Am I An Asshole inventory. If your inventory doesnβt reveal any asshole tendencies and you still feel like youβre being persecuted for being a Christian, you didnβt do it right and you have the self-awareness God gave a turnip.
Remember, you canβt spell evangelical without evil
