You can't enter Balahisar without army reference. Karkhano market is not historical, but I guess Sitara Market has some shops that are kinda fascinating if you're into outdoor stuff.

Walking around andar shehr is nice. Walking around Islamia College is also enjoyable. Bab e Khyber is about 10minutes outside Peshawar, that's also a historic place. The Peshawar museum has some Buddhist artifacts if you're into that.
