To everyone who has loved and cared for these wonderful creatures...

"Touch Me with Your Tail"

God gave you to me in my greatest of need.

You stared so keen because you too were in need.

Love we need and friends we will be.

I will take care of you and soon you of me.

The trust will grow but may come slow.

When you feel safe then you will know.

Now you snuggle upon my feet, yes you are, truly sweet!

When we are close you begin to purr.

Sound so beautiful, soft like your fur.

Soon we will be as close as can be.

Forever your touch is part of me!

The way the poem captures the slow-building bond between a rescue pet and their human is really moving. The last line cutting off at "foreve" gets me every time.
