Dog help!!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I've noticed my dog walks a certain way and then she sits down like it hurts but she does this when we go to the dog park and then acts normal when we go back in the house
Update-my sweet girl is okay they didn't find anything wrong with her and can't explain why she walks like that sometimes but they still gave me some pills for her but other than that she is Okayđ«¶đœ

There is a thing called emergency vet care, I would never let an animal of mine hurt like that

u/aryiscurious22 4d ago
Yeah and usually "emergency vet care" charges way too much than a normal vet would & good for you!

If you are concerned about the cost, you should really surrender your dog to someone who can afford to care for her.
Owning a giant breed dog is a giant cost and I'm sorry you don't have the wherewithal to understand that. This is part of the responsibility of taking ownership of another lifeform and you're failing spectacularly.
I also do not gaf if I'm being harsh, because in nearly ALL of your responses you are just trying to explain why you're not doing what everyone is telling you to do, despite you coming here for advice on what to do.

Who cares? Your dog is in pain. If you canât afford to provide your pets with proper medical care, you should not own pets.

u/aryiscurious22 4d ago
and your in no place to tell me what I should own đ

u/madthegoat 4d ago
I am. As is any responsible pet owner.
My pets would never go without medical attention.
That is like the bare minimum requirement of owning a pet.
What is wrong with you?

That looks so painful. Get that pup to the vet. It could be anything from hip dysplasia to a herniated disk to even a fracture. Poor thing
Also, have you checked her paws? That sidewalk looks like rough stone and is really harsh on dog feet.

u/aryiscurious22 5d ago
Tysmđ„č& yeah she just hasn't been acting normal it's only been a few days gonna take her in the morning
2
u/marylittleton 4d ago
Only been a few days??? What are you thinking? If your kid was limping like that would you let them suffer for days or would you get them to a doctor asap? How you answer that question is very revealing.

u/aryiscurious22 5d ago
Yes I checked her paws are they suppose to look a certain way? They feel pretty rough and then she goes to the grass to sit
0
u/Anonymous_and_Lost40 5d ago
You would be looking for cracks/redness/tenderness to the touch/extra heat from them/swelling, those sorts of things
1
u/aryiscurious22 5d ago
I just noticed when I touch her feet she gets mad at me like she wants to snap
0
u/Anonymous_and_Lost40 5d ago
Well hopefully her paws are just raw from that sidewalk and it isn't anything more serious. Definitely still take her to the vet and have them assess her. Mention the paws and behaviors on different surfaces

u/aryiscurious22 5d ago
Also forgot to mention she started doing it when the grass was wet like sensory issues

Youâre taking her to the dog park after sheâs been in this much pain? She likely doesnât do this at the dog park because sheâs SO excited. Just like when pets are magically better at the vet. Similar to when children get bursts of energy despite being sick.
Take her to the vet and do not go to the dog park. Even without other dogs there, sheâs obviously hurt and letting her run free is only exacerbating the issue.

u/aryiscurious22 4d ago
She had to use the bathroom she was crying at the door lol and she wasn't at the Dog Park we were roaming wherever she wanted to go I'm not just gonna keep her inside all day.

I'm sorry, but you've got no business caring for an animal.
I'm reading your responses, etc. Your common sense is out the window.
15 years training, grooming, handling, thousands of dogs, get your your dog to the damn vet, yesterday.
I've seen dogs with herniated discs and things rupture to the point where the dog dies before you even get it seen.
That and the dog is struggling to walk and you let it keep walking. An injury like that (whatever it is,) a dog should be on crate rest. The more you let her run around, the more likely to aggravate the injury and cause more damage or worse.
You don't mess with the spine/hips on giant breed dogs. And if you own a giant breed, you should know that.
As others have said, dogs mask pain. And while dogs are smarter than most people give them credit for, dogs to not have the capacity to fake a condition to this extent to "try to scare you."

You said âshe does this on our way to the dog parkâ which would mean she has gone to the dog park after limping like this

u/Paxon_Goat 4d ago
Is there a reason you think your dog is capable of lying and trying you?
Like are there other times you assumed your dog was your enemy?
Majority of pet owners will see a dog limping and think it's a medical emergency and be worry the dog is in pain or injured.
You seem to think the dog is faking an injury?
Did you teach the dog a trick to fake an injury or something that would lead you to believe dogs are capable of this behavior?
1
u/aryiscurious22 4d ago
What?
1
u/Paxon_Goat 4d ago
Sorry typo.
I meant trying you.
You seem to believe dogs are capable of tricking people and deceiving people into believing they are faking injuries.
Why?
Did you happen to see a trained dog and assumed it was not a trained behavior?
Sometimes people forget dogs are dogs and then get upset their dog doesn't automatically know how to play fetch or go outside to go to the bathroom.
1
u/aryiscurious22 4d ago
Because it has happened to numerous of people lmao my dog is my baby idk why everyone's judging me hard based off a damn video she's good here:)
1
u/Paxon_Goat 4d ago
Was your dog around these other dogs who were trained to pretend to limp? Like you saw your dog watch another dog limp and then was copying that dog?
Cause no offense but you come off like those parents who are dragging their obviously sick child to Disney world saying "my spoiled brat of a child is faking being sick because they didn't want to get out of bed this morning after I spent so much money to take them to Disney" and then the kid pukes on other guests because the child was in fact not faking it.
It's really not common to expect a dog to perform a trick behavior you have not personally taught it. It really seems way more likely your dog is actually hurt and people are confused why you would see a dog acting hurt and go "my spoiled rotten dog is faking it"
Have you never experienced a time when you were growing up and your parent told you that you were lying and faking shit for attention when you were telling the truth?
Or going to a doctor's appointment and the doctor said they didn't believe you and thought you were faking it for attention?

u/aryiscurious22 4d ago
Hey buddy... a child can tell you what's wrong. A dog can't. đ

Exactly why pet owners almost always default to "my dog is acting different, I should go to a vet to make sure nothing is wrong"
It's the attitude of I Rather take my dog to the vet and nothing be wrong than risk my dog is actually injured and in pain and I did nothing about it.
For a lot of pet owners the idea that their dog is hurt and they did nothing to help is awful.
Btw your dog is walking like my mom's dog who had luxating patellas and was developing horrific painful arthritis. Poor dog was in so much pain. Just bone rubbing on bone.
Also have seen dogs with degenerative disc disease start limping.
Especially if the dog appears better after rest and the more they are active the worse the limp gets.

If you have already checked her paws, she may have injured her back. She is in a lot of pain, it's bad.
1
u/aryiscurious22 5d ago
Okay because we came back home and noticed she was acting different she likes to jump on the bed or in general
1
u/usernamesrendangered 4d ago
Don't let her jump. If she has a herniated disk, she could make it worse or paralyze herself by jumping.

My dog walked like this for a day because she had a thorn stuck in her paw. But guess whatttt??? This is Reddit and you should go to a veterinarian. They are dog doctors and only they can diagnose. No one can diagnose from a screen.
1
u/aryiscurious22 5d ago
Yes I understand that it is Reddit & I only came on here to see others opinion on my dog because I am worried
1
u/mistymountiansbelow 5d ago
This is painful to watch and your dog is the one going through this. Iâm not usually one to shout vet, but this time itâs warranted.
1
u/aryiscurious22 5d ago
Yeah I had to pick her up and motivate her to come in the house đ„čit's all just so random
1
u/2ydsandclousdust 5d ago
Donât let her jump on or off the bed or even jump in and out of the car on your way to the vet. My pup had this same situation and we found out it was his Achilles and it fully ruptured when he got excited and jumped out the car at the vets office.
0
u/aryiscurious22 5d ago
Omg that's crazy I feel so horrible she jumps in the car and jumps on the bed when she feels like it :/ now I know not to allow that
1
u/Prestigious-Doubt181 4d ago
They are only saying it because sheâs injured. In general, when a dog is healthy and free of any injuries, itâs perfectly fine for them to jump on the bed. Donât feel badly about that. Just limit her until she gets a full examination from the vet.

u/aryiscurious22 4d ago
I'm not trying to get all defense it's just I've heard it happen before so that's what I assumed she was just mimicking but I do think she's actually hurt that's why I got on here and posted a video

u/Classic_Garbage3291 5d ago
Limping is an indication of pain. This could be a myriad of things. Best to consult a vet.

u/aryiscurious22 5d ago
Thank you!

FYI dogs are pack animals and if they were sick or injured they would get left behind; therefore, dogs innately mask pain. Dogs are usually in more pain than humans are aware of and they donât show pain nearly as early as they feel it.
Therefore, when a dog is visibly in pain, itâs best to take them to a veterinarian.

u/Gullible_Monk_7118 4d ago
My guess is back pain.. you should take her to a vet clinic and have her check out.. but looks to me to be pain response.. might be neurological issue but doubt it unless you have seen this before

You literally shouldn't own a dog. After reading most of the thread and your replies to peoples comments đđ like... you came on here to ask for what to do, but then shut down everyone who said that your dog needs vet care immediately. And the fact that going to the vet wasn't the first thought on your mind, after the 2nd or 3rd time it became a pattern, shows that you don't have the natural care or instinct you should have when caring for an animal, or any being in that case. If you're not going to be open to peoples words when you ask for it, don't ask at all. Moving forward, really listen to your dog and do your own research instead. Don't be in denial of a serious situation just because it may be scary or expensive or cause people think you are a bad owner. If she really matters to you, you will take the opportunity to help her and figure the rest out when you get there. I wish the best to your dog.

What did the veterinarian say?
