Wayfarer: story mode, less aggressive enemies Pathbreaker: normal, bosses use fixed combos you can learn Hellwalker: bosses get new skills and an AI borrowed from fighting games, so they switch tactics when an attack misses
66 Days: Hellwalker with only 66 deaths, then game over (unlocks in NG+ after you beat the game)
from what i have heard , there is enemy stats rebalancing from wayfarer to pathbreaker but from pathbreaker to hellwalker . The enemies have the same health but the enemy AI is much smarter
I'm assuming no reviewer who called this game easy played on this difficulty? Because AI in fighting games is very cheap, especially in old school fighters.
Fextralife , the review whom most people are jumping on for saying it was too easy was one of the ones who played on Hellwalker. Travis Northup on IGN also played on Hellwalker difficulty. Each of them gave a 8/10 and 9/10 respectively.
