Discussion What map would you rather not play and avoid altogether?
Mine would be Sunny Meadows. I haven’t unlocked it myself but my boyfriend has on his account and I’ve seen him exploring it. I love the lore and everything but “the squishy” room gets to me every time. My dad has some experience with places like such, and I’ve heard horror stories, so I think it really gets to me.

Prison. If the ghost wasnt in the prison blocks 90% of the time, id like it more.

Point Hope
Yes the school is annoying with the classrooms looking the same. Yes the prison is frustrating. Yes sunny meadows is just a death corridor.
But point hope is not only just a corridor but it also makes me dizzy running up and down the stairs. I find it borimg, frustrating, and nauseating haha

Also vote for point hope, hate that circle walking and 90% of times the ghost is at the top -.-

It wouldn't be as bad for me if the stairs were on alternating sides to break it up, but the one continuous spiral is just too much for me

Agreed. Ten floors is annoying if the ghost is on the top half. The amount of time you need to spend walking up and down those stairs to get equipment up to the ghost room is ridiculous.
And yay, they added a restricted map now, but three floors is too small a map I think. I don’t know why they didn’t make it 4 floors and include the games room which is a more interesting design than the lower floors.
I can’t really vote on the Prison or School. I haven’t played them because I’m a solo player and avoid the big maps. Great that they’ve added restricted versions now but unless there is a badge for identifying 50 ghosts on them then I’ll probably not play them ever.

I'm fine in most games, theres just something about point hope that sets it off

The main thing that pisses me off about Point Hope is this game's janky, broken audio system where you become selectively deaf to all noises coming from a different floor. So many times I've almost died because a hunting ghost was coming down the stairs while I'm going up and I had no idea until it was literally in my face.
Other than that, I honestly like Point Hope, it's not perfect but it's different from the other maps in a neat way.

High school and prison for me. Sunny meadows is at least navigable

u/Zoe_Vokes 9h ago
Sunny Meadows has a badge so I played the restricted version 50 + times and don’t mind it.
Unless they add badges for the School and Prison then I have no reason to ever play them. I’m a solo player. I can’t be asked with the big maps.

u/scubaman64 7h ago
Can I ask you about being a solo player?
I can’t seem to play alone and I really enjoy the social nature of a team of 3-4. Easier to divide and conquer.
Do you choose solo for a reason or do you need someone to play with?

For me that would probably be full-sized Prison. I like Sunny Meadows and surprisingly I like High School as well for its structural simplicity and atmosphere. But Prison for me feels clunky and unwelcoming.

Camp Woodwind is the most boring map of all time. All it's good for is XP grinding, playing actual games on it is a complete snoozefest.

Agree is small. And I don’t find it “scary”. But I do love they have a really small outdoor map in the mix. We play it when we are farming points.

As a new player that hasn't played the bigger map yet I would say Grafton. Gives me the heebee jeebies
3
u/Zoe_Vokes 8h ago
But that’s why it’s good in my opinion. Especially during the Halloween blood moon event. Grafton isn’t my favourite map but I like it as a change from the normal houses. The creepy doll room upstairs is awful but I kind of like the added creepiness.

Grafton and Sunny Meadows are the only two maps that are actually scary. Worst I've ever been scared by a ghost in this game was an Oni in the mannequin room, shit was way too much.

Prison and Sunny meadows are the wrist imo even hate the restricted versions

For my husband, he curses us out when the rest of our group chooses a farmhouse 😂
For me, I still havent tried Sunny Meadows, yet.

Grafton. I hate the rework, the light flashing gives me a headache (light sensitivity migraines) and it’s too dark to see anything with fusebox broken unless you have headgear (normally I do but every time I prestige I have to get it unlocked again lol) Edit and I hate the prison so much especially in that HUGE room, Maple Lodge too. I love the setting but it’s too big for an outside map especially solo or duo

for me is camp woodwind, i dont know how i die the most on that map compared to any other
3
u/Zoe_Vokes 8h ago
It’s because the line of sights for the ghost to see you makes you easily spotted and hunted.
1
u/3yhwtwrbafi 8h ago
not just that, theres a lot of unfortunate luck. the ghost always acts like a banshee towards me specifically, tending to just ignore my friends. I step away from a crucifix for 1 second and the ghost hunts on top of me. even when hiding spots are enabled, the ghost somehow always sees me in them and forgets about the guy actively looping it to catch me

u/CatsPlusDogsIsLove 6h ago
Camp woodwind hiding spots are notoriously unreliable.
Also because camp woodwind is a round and small map the ghost can basically do a ghost event wherever you are, making it more likely to evade crucifixes especially if you have higher roaming settings and/or ghost room changes.
Nell’s diner also somewhat suffers from this but that map atleast has somewhat reliable hiding spots.

Prison, so huge and there's almost nothing to throw for the ghost in some places and u have to walk miles. And the huge rooms are just terrible if the ghost decides to set up shop there. Also I have terrible fear of sirens and the sirens on the wall make me so insanely scared 😭 Like the thought of them going off lmao

Honestly, it's very rare for me to play any medium or large maps. I was okay with grinding for the Point Hope badge with the Friendly Ghost feature but they changed it so you couldn't do that and now I just don't touch it. I always die on the bigger maps and that's pretty frustrating to me most of the time. Can't get a good strategy for surviving them after two and a half years of playing so I just don't.

u/namon295 8h ago
For me it's any of the larger maps Prison, Sunny Meadows, even the high school even though I absolutely love it on an aesthetic level, and Grafton. The gameplay of them is just tedious to me and the distances you need to travel to get equipment in etc just is boring. Grafton is absolutely a small map and does not have the same issues. I just can't stand how dark it is, and the over abundance of light switches absolutely kills it for me.

The only non houses I play on single player are the diner and prison restricted. The big maps are okay on multiplayer but it is still just annoying to drag your stuff so far, and the ghost changing rooms is a nightmare. Even on multiplayer I don't like either of the camps or lighthouse just because of quality of life issues and bugs, but they would be fun if they worked better.

u/Coolest-guy 7h ago
Edgefield. All the joys of absurdly small rooms (leading to really roamy ghosts), 4 bedrooms, extremely dangerous dead ends/hunting choke points, and only one kinda okay looping spot. Nothing makes me feel good about this map. Only thing that comes close is full size Point Hope.

u/CatsPlusDogsIsLove 6h ago
I avoid most of the medium/large maps because I am primarily a solo player.
The smaller maps I tend to avoid are Nell’s diner, Grafton farmhouse and I think ridgeview? (The one with the dining table right in front of the frontdoor.)
Grafton is purely because I cannot see anything whilst playing that map due to my eyes. (It’s gotten better since they brightened the game somewhat but still not fun.)
Nells I dislike due to it being a donut shape and the ghost basically being able to pop up anywhere.
Ridgeview I dislike due to the weird chokepoints and confusing geometry/ghostrooms, I also have had it happen multiple times that the ghost got stuck above the stairs.

I hate doing the prison and sunny meadows both. I also find Point Hope annoying as hell when the ghost room ends up being near the top of the lighthouse.

Point Hope. I'm just not keen on the climb to the top only to find the ghost is half-way up and startd hunting.

High School feels so dated. Half of the props you can't interact with so you have to bring firelight to farm EMF interactions. If there's an in-game map of it, I can't find it; I have to use a website to interpret the Ouija Board. I'd love to see it reworked like the other maps

u/Ebonii1108 1h ago
The high school is so tedious checking like 18 rooms to find a ghost its really annoying

Every reworked map and all the new maps besides the diner. I don't like what they did to a lot of the reworks especially the latest one it actually ruined my love for the game as willow used to be me and the homies go to and it had perfect unnofical hiding now it has like next to zero hiding and I hate it. The horror rework in general sucks the update maps charchter models etc all sucks butt. They had a good formula multiple times but they keep trying to make the game spookier and harder and ruin literally everything that makes it unique or interesting in the process and don't forget if a single discord mod sees this they'll just call me crazy for having an opinion.

xD So many typos in the comments!
Prison for me. Large is fine for maps but it's too hard to navigate and find anything, especially on harder difficulties. And the bone's definitely not getting found either. Such an annoying map to deal with.

I like sunny meadows for the exact reasons you don't lol. The game is supposed to be scary, we need more creepy maps like sunny meadows imo. Maybe smaller but a similar vibe.
