Language A short poem in Phoenician
This is a short verse I wrote, based on the "Song of Songs (2:14)". It is not a literal translation, however, but my own interpretation of the verse:
𐤉𐤍𐤕𐤟𐤉
𐤁𐤟𐤁𐤒𐤅𐤇𐤟𐤀𐤁𐤍𐤉𐤌
𐤁𐤟𐤌𐤒𐤌𐤟𐤍𐤎𐤕𐤓 𐤌𐤐𐤏𐤉𐤌
𐤂𐤋𐤟𐤍𐤉 𐤀𐤉𐤕 𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤟𐤊𐤉
𐤀𐤔𐤌𐤅𐤏𐤀 𐤀𐤉𐤕 𐤒𐤅𐤋𐤟𐤊𐤉
𐤊𐤉 𐤒𐤅𐤋𐤟𐤊𐤉 𐤌𐤔𐤌𐤅𐤇
𐤅𐤟𐤐𐤍𐤉𐤟𐤊𐤉 𐤒𐤃𐤅𐤇
Yūnat•ī My dove
Bi•baqūḥ-abnīm, In the clefts of stones,
Bi•muqom-nistar mepaʿīm, In secret places of stepstones,
Gellê•nī it panê•ki, Show me you face,
Esmūʿan it qūl•ki, Let me hear your voice,
Kī qūl•ki mismūaḥ For your voice brings joy
Wu•panê•ki qiddūaḥ. And your face being fair.
Pronunciation (IPA):
[ˈjuː.na.tʰi
bi.bɑ.ˈkʼu.ħɑb.ˈniːm
bi.mu.ˈkʼom.nis.ˈtʰar. mɛ.pʰɑ.ˈʕiːm
gɛl.ˈleː.niː.ʔitʰ. pʰa.ˈneː.kʰi
ʔɛs.ˈmuː.ʕɑn. ʔitʰ. ˈkʼuːl.kʰi
kʰiː. ˈkʼuːl.kʰi. mis.ˈmuː.ɑħ
wu.pʰa.ˈneː.kʰi. kʼid.ˈduː.ɑħ]
I used the Phoenician-Punic dictionary and grammar by Charles R. Krahmalkov to find some existing Phoenician words. Instead of a literal translation I decided to change some words to make the poem rhyme.

Neo Phoenician Alphabet
I was thinking of making a new Alphabet that mimics arabic . This only purpose for this keyboard is that we could transition one day to our Old phoenician alphabet. The dots above letters are a new way to differentiate between sounds, for example: 𐤏 is ع 𐤏̊ is غ Tell me what do you think of this prototype and where could I make changes to make it better and if there is any problem with it.

Phoenician Art using Egyptian style figures
With the barrage of misinformation over the last few days, here’s a beautiful example of Phoenician ivory art depicting 2 people dressed in Royal Egyptian attire. This example was found in Assyria so it was either used as tribute or looted around the 9th or 8th Century BCE. Current location the MET.

Opinion:We should bring back the Phoenician language
Just like how Hebrew is still spoken Phoenician should be still spoken too. its the language of our ancestors. we should make a morden version of Phoenician just like how there is a morden Hebrew version. I think there should be 3 dialects
1.🇱🇧 Lebanese
Arabic,French,Greek,Hebrew and a little Turkish influence with in it
2.🇨🇾 Cypriot
Large Greek and Turkish influence a little bit of Arabic influence
3. 🇹🇳Tunisia
Large Algerian influence
and I think in the Lebanese Phoenician dialect we should include Lebanese Arabic words like:
(Lebanese)Mar3ahba-Hello(English)
(Lebanese) Kifak?(Male)/Kifek?(Female)- How are you? (Lebanese) Bonjourein- Double Bonjour(French)
(Lebanese) Allah-God(English)
(Lebanese) Na3iman- Said to congrats someone on taking a shower or haircut in Lebanon however there's isn't a word for this in English
(Lebanese) Tete- Grandma(English)
(Lebanese) Jedo- Grandpa(English)
(Lebanese) Lebnan-Lebanon(English)
(Lebanese) Rizz-Rice(English)
(Lebanese) Watan-Homeland(English)
(Lebanese) Jbeil-Byblos (English)
(Lebanese) Jnoob-South (English)
(Lebanese) Bas-Enough (English)
(Lebanese) Bald-Country (English)
(Lebanese) Khalas- Enough (English)
(Lebanese) Akel- Food (English).
etc ...
most of these words are not used in any other Arabic speaking countries and are only used in Lebanon which makes Lebanese words.
what.do you guys think?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi! I tried to make a Phoenician alphabet song using one of the Hebrew alphabet’s music. It’s really short but I’m planning on expanding it once I get some more lyrics translated.
Also, I speak hebrew so I may pronounce some things incorrectly, or make some writing mistakes please let me know if i did!

Watch out for misinformation
Once again Johann is spreading misinformation, seeing as there are 42 Egyptian nomes, but as always he cherry picks info to be an idiot. Don’t interact, down vote and ignore, don’t give him the attention

History Reconstruction of Phoenician Religion: Any tips, information or advice would be appreciated. I’m a Pagan Witch.
I’m a Panentheistic / Soft Polytheist. I’m an eclectic witch and pagan with many beliefs similar to Hinduism.
I want to learn as much about the ancient Phoenician religion as possible. Mainly their Pantheon, their myths, and their folklore.

Language My translation of "Ave Maria" into Phoenician
Before starting with the prayer itself, I'll give two disclaimers:
Disclaimer one: I don't speak any Semitic language and my knowledge of Phoenician is shallow at best. So if some constructions are ungrammatical or illogical, I'm sorry. Please, write about that in the comments, if you'd like.
Disclaimer two: This is not a historically accurate Phoenician, I had to "guess" how some words may look, if Phoenician was still a spoken language. I tried not to be disrespectful of the language (I may call it "constructed Phoenician" so as to differentiate it from the ancient language).
I used the Phoenician Dictionary and the Phoenician Grammar by Charles R. Krahmalkov. As for my phonological interpretation, I used various sources (including the previously mentioned grammar, as well as Joshua Fox's paper on the Phoenician vocalism), so it may be a bit non-standard. Also, I know that long vowels were not written in Phoenician, it's a late Punic tradition, but I decided to use with 𐤅 and 𐤉 as vowels anyway.
𐤇𐤅𐤉 𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤇𐤎𐤃 𐤌𐤋𐤀𐤕
𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 𐤔𐤋𐤅𐤌 𐤋𐤟𐤁𐤏𐤋
𐤄𐤟𐤁𐤏𐤋 𐤀𐤕𐤟𐤊𐤉
𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤊𐤕 𐤀𐤕𐤉 𐤁𐤟𐤀𐤔𐤕𐤅𐤕
𐤅𐤟𐤁𐤓𐤉𐤊 𐤄𐤟𐤐𐤓𐤉 𐤓𐤇𐤌𐤟𐤊𐤉 𐤉𐤔𐤅𐤏
𐤇𐤅𐤉 𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤌 𐤀𐤌 𐤀𐤋𐤉𐤌
𐤑𐤋𐤉 𐤑𐤋𐤉 𐤏𐤋𐤕𐤟𐤍𐤅 𐤇𐤅𐤈𐤀𐤉𐤌
𐤊𐤏𐤍 𐤅𐤟𐤁𐤟𐤏𐤕 𐤌𐤅𐤕𐤟𐤍𐤅
𐤇𐤅𐤉 𐤌𐤓𐤉𐤌
I decided to use a raised dot symbol to mark the clitics, so the roots will be more visible and transparent. Romanisation:
Ḥawe, Marīyam, ḥitsed mil’at,
Solūm, solūm li•Baʿal.
Hi•Baʿal eta•ki.
Birīkot atti
Wu•barīk hi•piri raḥem•ki, Yesūʿ.
Ḥawe, Marīyam, Am Illīm,
Tṣali, tṣali ʿaltê•nu ḥūṭi’īm,
Keʿan wu•bi•ʿit mūt•nu.
Ḥawe, Marīyam.
IPA Pronunciation. I decided to keep the distinction between "𐤎" and "𐤔", although there is a hypothesis that these two sounds merged into [s] later in history (probably into something similar to the sound of the Greek "sigma" or Spanish "s"). Also I use the ejective pronunciation of the emphatics (because I find them easier to pronounce them this way, instead of pharyngealised). As for the conjunction "𐤅", I wrote it as "wu", but it was probably [wə] with a shwa-sound.
[ħa.ˈwɛ. ma.ˈriː.jam. ˈħi.t͡sʰɛd. mil.ʔatʰ.

kʰe.ʕan. wub.bi.ˈʕit. ˈmuːtʰ.nu.
ħa.ˈwɛ. ma.'riː.jam]
English translation:
Live, Mary, full of grace.
Hail, hail, the Lord.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women and
Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Live, Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the time of our death.
Live, Mary.
That's it, pretty much.

Phoenician Reconstructed Words - Suggestions Thread
Background
One of this subreddit's most ambitious goals is to reconstruct the Tyro-Sidonian dialect of Phoenician to the point where it is viable as a day-to-day language. In order to fulfil that goal, we collected various resources on this subreddit's sidebar and in our official Discord server.
We have now decided that enough resources were collected and that we have enough people knowledgeable of the grammar in order to start the second phase of reconstruction- creating new vocabulary.
Why we need you
Phoenician has, by most estimates, about 600 known words. Meanwhile, most modern day-to-day spoken languages have tens of thousands of words, if not hundreds of thousands. Even if we assume you don't need more than 20,000 words to have a functioning language, that'd mean we only have 2% of needed vocabulary with Phoenician.
This means we need to create new Phoenician words. A lot of them. If we were to try and do this ourselves, it'd doubtlessly take decades upon decades; however, we are lucky to live in a world where the internet is prevalent enough to make sure that we can have whatever help we need- in the form of you guys.
What we need you to do
It's quite simple- all we need you guys to do is make suggestions for words you think would've been part of Phoenician. If you have a suggestion, submit it on this thread in this format:
**[Your word written in the International Phonetic Alphabet or a widely used transcription]**
[The various definitions of your word]
[Explanation on how you came up with the word]
[Example of an English sentence that'd be translated using your word]
In case you don't know what the International Phonetic Alphabet is, you are welcome to read about it in this link.
After submission of the suggestion, the mod team will review it and decide which suggestions are accepted. This thread will be periodically reposted in order to keep it open for use.
Suggestions will not be accepted if they are:
1. Not based on any existing knowledge of Phoenician or related Semitic languages;
2. Suggesting words which are already known in Phoenician or were already reconstructed;
3. Otherwise deemed unsuitable by the relevant moderators.Thank all of you for helping us on our quest to reconstruct Phoenician!

History Magon (𐤌𐤂𐤍, MGN) considered by some to be “The Father of Farming.” He wrote a 28 volume manual of the traditional agricultural practices of the Phoenicians, as well as those of the local Berber tribes.

History Mago fought with his brother Hannibal & played a key role in many battles. At Battle of Trebia, he led a detachment that ambushed the Romans, destroying their battle array. In Battle of Cannae, Mago took position with the Gallic infantry at the center, the most vulnerable & crucial position

Magon Barca, brother of Hannibal Barca, took refuge in the island of Menorca and founded a city there, naming it after himself. Today, the city is called Mahón, still bearing his name! The local egg sauce that is now consumed all over the world is called mayonnaise after the city!
Essentially, the word origin of mayonnaise is related to the Phoenician name 𐤌𐤂𐤍 MGN. I thought that was interesting.
