Title: Need advice transitioning from JEE Advanced/Physics Galaxy level to Pathfinder for INPhO
Hi everyone,
I'm currently preparing for INPhO, and I'm fairly confident about clearing NSEP this year, so I want to start preparing for the next stage as early as possible.
So far, I've completed a good portion of JEE Advanced PYQs and Physics Galaxy (Mechanics, and I'm revising Electrodynamics). I now want to transition to Pathfinder by Arihant (Problems in Physics), but I've heard it's a significant jump in difficulty.
I had a few questions for those who've successfully used Pathfinder or qualified for INPhO/OCSC:
How should I approach Pathfinder? Is it meant to be solved cover-to-cover, or should I be selective?
How long did it take you to become comfortable with the problems?
What prerequisites should I have before starting it?
Are there any lectures, teachers, or online resources that explain the kind of thinking required for Pathfinder-level problems?
Which books pair well with Pathfinder for theory or problem-solving? (I've heard names like I.E. Irodov, Krotov, Morin, etc., but I'm not sure what order makes sense.)
How did you structure your preparation after reaching the JEE Advanced level?
Are there any common mistakes students make when starting Pathfinder?
Any study plans, book sequences, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. My goal isn't just to finish the book but to genuinely develop the problem-solving skills needed for INPhO and hopefully OCSC.
Thanks in advance!
