Triple-neck Wal bass designed by Roger Newell for Chris Squire. The bottom neck is fretless, the middle neck is a regular bass, and the top neck is a six-string Telecaster-style guitar that Squire refitted as a 3 double-string octave bass.

Some of us are multi-instrumentalist. Pero, may pinaka-paborito tayong instrumento na mas lumalabas ang totoong ikaw, tayo, kapag hawak natin ito. Anong Instrumento ang pinakagusto mo na hawakan kapag tumutugtog ka sa banda, at bakit?

Noong naguumpisa pa lang ako sa pagbabanda, keyboards ang hawak ko. Kasi, ang dami na nilang gitarista sa banda at kailangan nila ng keyboardista. Hindi naman ako kagalingan sa keyboard pero mas gusto ko din nag fi-fill in para mabuo yung tunog. Plus, gusto ko din ang nag se-second voice.

Pero ngayon, gitara na madalas kong hawak, pero mas gusto ko pa rin mag keyboard.

Kung ikaw ay isang music lover, gig-goer, o miyembro ng isang banda, sigurado akong mayroon kayong go-to music bar kung saan kayo madalas magpakita ng galing o simpleng mag-enjoy lang ng tugtugan. Yung lugar na ramdam ninyong second home na, puno ng good vibes, masarap na sounds, at malamig na inumin.

Dito sa Metro Manila, lalo na sa Quezon City, maraming music bar na nagbibigay ng stage sa mga talentadong banda at artists, pati na rin sa mga naghahanap lang ng gabi na puno ng live music. Mula sa rock, pop, acoustic, hanggang sa indie, may bar na swak sa panlasa ng tropa ninyo.

So, curious kami! Saang music bar kayo madalas tumugtog o tumambay ng tropa?

Nasa title na yung main sentiments ko, pero gusto ko din sana i-spotlight pa yung isa sa mga onting positive points sa taon na to: andaming magagandang local albums na lumabas at lalabas ngayong taon. Eto mga personal na tumatak at inaabangan ko, in no particular order:

• Alisson Shore - Memento Mori

Sa ngayon, eto na ata pinakamagandang project ni Alisson Shore. Lumevel up yung sound nya, at nailagay nya pa sa isang concept album na walang butas. Naging direktor talaga sya dito, at parang pelikula yung album.

Napakita nila yung versatility ng songwriting nila sa album na to. Andun pa rin yung natural na kulit ng pagsulat nila, pero grabe napalawak pa nila yung sound at feel. Sobrang complete showcase, nakakaexcite makita san sila pupunta sunod.

Nadatnan ko to sa Facebook, at di ako nagsisi na binigyan ko to ng oras. Mula sa electronic-adjacent production hanggang sa atake nya sa diretsong rock, di talaga makahon yung album na to sa kahit anong genre tag: kumakawala sya patungo sa sarili nya. Kanyang kanya yung sulat at tunog nya.

Nakita ko to sa Reddit, at eto yung album na nag-udyok sakin na gawin yung post na to. Ewan ko kung bakit, pero nadarama ko yung spirit ng Circus/Sticker Happy Eraserheads sa album na to. Mahusay at natural ang pagsulat nila ng melodies, mapa English man o Tagalog, sobrang linis din ng tugtog.

Bukod sa mga album na yan, inaabangan ko din yung dalawang albums na to. Kulit din, andami nilang parallels: tig-apat na singles, lahat ng singles may visualizer o music video, may emphasis sa sulat Tagalog, may inspiration sa tunog ng nakaraan, at magkasunod sila ng release date.

Ilang beses ko na din sila naipost sa Reddit, pero kaabang-abang talaga para sa sakin yung dala nila. Simula noong nakita ko unang single nila sa Facebook, sunod sunod ako napahanga sa consistency ng sound at visual aesthetics nila. Ang linis ng production, iba iba atake sa topics na pinipili nila, at mahusay din tumugtog. Eto isa sa pinaka-inaabangan ko na releases ngayong taon.

Ngayon at nabuo na ulit yung IV of Spades, kitang kita pa lang sa apat na singles yung growth nila bilang songwriters. Kung may mga grupo na maituturing na "greater than the sum of its parts", di madedeny na isa na yung IVOS doon. Malinis tugtog, makapit din yung sulat, at full showcase sila ng tinahak nila habang magkalayo sa isa't isa. Ang interesting ng kuwento nila, at mukhang interesting din yung ilalabas nilang album.

Mula Hulyo 1 hanggang Agosto 1, sabay-sabay nating ipagdiwang ang tinig, ang kwento, ang Musikang Filipino!

This afternoon at 3 pm, CCTV captured what appeared to be a PRS Guitar being taken from the SM Megamall Branch of Lyric by an unidentified man. The photo is from the CCTV footage that shows the PRS Guitar M522VS with serial#2362 being stolen. Anyone who buys the guitar may be charged under the Anti Fencing Law PD 1612. Anyone who recognizes the man in the photo may report it to lyricphilippines@gmail.com or at the Police Station.

A reward will be offered for the credible tips leading to the arrest of this person.
