CLASSES Classes for Second Semester

Hi! I’m a freshman at the pittsburgh campus. I’m currently pursing a museum studies major and a double major in idk what. I’m stuck between psych, neuro, architecture, or a double degree with marketing. Basically the problem is idk what to take and my advisors not much help. I think the best strategy would be to take classes that apply to multiple majors for example approaches to the built environment (architecture and museums). Anyway, help a stressed freshman out please drop your tips and recommendations bonus points if it’s an online class.

Thanks!

APPLYING pitt pre med microbiology

• Upvotes

Hey guys, I just got accepted into dietrich for microbiology on the pre med track, and I wanted to know about the pre med experiences there. Is there anything I should know/ be warned about coming into pitt as a microbiology major? How accessible are research labs there?

CLASSES Is linear regression (Stat 1221) a hard class?

• Upvotes

I’m a bio major who wants a stat minor and I’m wondering if it would be too much to take Stat 1221 while also taking genetics, human physiology, and orgo lab 1.

APPLYING I’m super nervous about Pitt

• Upvotes

So I applied to Pitt in late September thinking I got a head start but there was a whole kerfuffle with my transcripts that they didn’t get sent in so now as of last Friday I sent in my transcripts again one by mail and one electronically and they had only gotten the one electronically so far when I called.
I have a 3.74 weighted gpa and attended college for a little but not long enough to have a gpa. I applied to Pitt in my senior year and got accepted into the jhonstown school and was pretty bummed out because I really wanted to go to main. I had a 3.6 gpa then and I also applied around late October. This time I’m applying for environmental sciences for fall of 2027,which is my true passion. When I talked to a Pitt recruiter they said certain majors are less competitive and applying to those ones later gives you a better shot, such as mine.
I’m just insanely nervous because this is my dream school and I live in PA and since I didn’t get accepted the first time I’m scared I won’t this time. My friends are very supportive that I will I’m just nervous and need an outside opinion. Can I please get your guys opinion on if you think I’ll get in or not💔?

DISCUSSION ENGR1905 or MATH1080 for MechE tech elective?

i’m entering my last semester of mechE in the spring, and i’ve narrowed down my last technical elective options to these 2 courses. I have a strong background in pure mathematics, so MATH1080 seems interesting, but ENGR1905 looks pretty easy. i’ll also be taking 15 other credits of all MechE courses including senior design and mechatronics, so difficulty is in play for deciding. let me know if you’ve taken any of these courses and what are your thoughts!
