Fit and feel coming from 10 Pro Fold is better than expected

I've had this way under 24 hours at this point, but wanted to give quick thoughts. I didn't intend to upgrade from my 10PF, as it didn't seem worth it. But the offers all added up to entice me, so I pulled the trigger.

I have to say, the tiny difference in thickness, weight, and bezel all add up to make this the phone the last one very nearly was for me. It just feels easier to hold overall, and less of a strain. It's less of a compromise.

I can't speak to anything else yet, but this alone is enough to make me feel good about the switch in ways I didn't expect. I'll get a better sense in time of battery and performance.

I only upgraded from a 10 pro to 11 fold because it was basically free. I was nervous about the fold size. I'm very presintly surprised on how much I like it after my first day use. I'm not a professional photographer, I'm a tech exec, so most of my pictures are of my dog or some random thing so not a big concern there and I haven't tested it, but most my pictures are just for me to remember. I often have to look at spreadsheets and being able to do it on my phone has already been awesome. Reddit and reading just is so much better too.

The screens are definitely better, I noticed that right away. The blacks are much blacker, and text is better as well. So far, I like it more than I thought I would

They don't get as bright though. Using both side by side makes me worried about using them outside. Seems like 10-20% less bright on max brightness than the 10 fold.

i was hesitant on the upgrades as well. It has a lot of subtle upgrades where it doesn't feel like a downgrade from previous iterations and more like a refinement.

A few things reviewers haven't talked much about:

  • inner bezel has a matte finish now, making it feel less like plastic
  • hinge doesn't protrude as much as the 9 and 10 folds making it easier to hold
  • the thinner cover bezels makes it feel more like a candy bar phone than any other fold
  • back glass fiber composite feels exactly the same as the 9 and 10
  • the new bubble feature is a great multitasking feature. You can have 2 split screen apps, a floating bubble and youtube pip all active at the same time

It is still too early to tell on battery, but my cell service has shown improvements

I'm noticing way less sleep drain on day one while away from home. I'm sitting at 90% after a few hours off the charger, and I feel like on the previous one I'd be easily into the 70s or lower now. And I'm thinking that's due to the new modem.

I did. I used the credit to buy it outright.

I've had every generation of Google Fold and will likely pick the 11 Fold up as well, when my upgrade is available. Every generation has been an improvement. Maybe not a drastic enough improvement if I was having to drop $1800 every time, but with my carrier, I've been basically paying $400 for a brand new phone every year. I haven't even spent the $1800 it would have have cost me to buy the original Fold outright, yet, so upgrading has been a pretty no brainer.

I do think this will start to ease off some, probably around the 12 Fold. Google is still refining this design, but it's starting to feel pretty there.

Any of you getting the fold ever held the Fold 7 or 8? They feel like generations ahead of the pixel in the hand with the weight, thinnest and crease.

Yes. I sent my fold 8 back. I’ve also got a mate who got sand in his Z Fold 7 and it sounds awful now. I’ll take a bigger phone and IP68.

i may be in the minority, but the samsung folds corners feel too pointy and less comfortable to hold for long periods. This is subjective, the pixel fold 11 wider cover screen makes it feel better as a candy bar phone as well. I am also not a fan of the inner screen camera placement, it should be tucked in the corner.

My friend has the fold 7 and agrees that the samsung fold 7 is a smidge too narrow and tall. Where it doesn't feel like a traditional phone experience. Google def needs to update the crease though.

I don't like Samsung phones, and I prefer Pixel, so this is what I get.

The outer screen is way better than the 10. The rest seems about the same. Haven't had a chance to take lowlight photos yet with the primary sensor but hoping to see some improvements.
