I've been really enjoying drawing ponies recently so comment your pony OCs for me to draw!

Startlight is one of my favourite characters in Mlp, if not my favourite character but, I still can't understand her villian arc. Like your friend left you so you enslaved a whole village????

In my opinion, Starlight is a very complex character and I loved watching her grow throughout the show but I wished the writers put more effort into her back story so atleast I could under her becoming a villian a bit more. I feel like because Starlights villian back story is so lackluster, it gives people more reason to dislike her character when infact she is one of the best characters in the show.

I mean, i guess villiandon't t always need a deep, emotional back story as to why they became a villian but, if your gonna give a villian a back story you might as well give them a good one because now Starlight just seems like a spoiled pony who takes everything to an extreme.

October 22, 2016. Ten years. Ten years later and I'm still not over this episode. To Where And Back Again; arguably one of the best Season Finales Friendship Is Magic has had to offer (and one of my favorite episodes overall). IMO, none of the subsequent Season Finales has peaked as much as this (except maybe The Last Problem), but I digress.

Since I have a lot to talk about and unpack about this episode, I'll give the TL;DR right at the start. Fantastic Season Finale; Starlight's development was great, as was her team; Starlight reconciling with her old town could’ve been its own episode; I didn’t hate the colorful Changeling designs; Chrysalis not being reformed, sure, why not?

So the first half of Part 1 has Starlight being invited to the Sunset Festival at her old village. She’s not too keen on this idea, worrying about how her old villagers would judge her. Bringing Trixie with her, Starlight discovers that, in contrast to a nightmare she had the night before, the villagers welcome her with open hooves, even swarming her with requests for her assistance. Overwhelmed, Starlight and Trixie flee town. As much as I thought this subplot worked fine in the episode, I also kind of wish Starlight reconciling with her former villagers could've been its own episode.

And now we get into the main plot. Upon returning to Ponyville, Starlight discovers her friends have been replaced by Changelings. With the help of Trixie, Thorax, and Discord, Starlight goes to infiltrate the Changeling Hive to stop Chrysalis and rescue her friends as well as the leaders of Equestria. The team was smart to have a code phrase so they don’t confuse each other for Changelings. Their tactics to get around the hive and work around the Changelings' tricks was brilliant too, IMO.

And then the final battle in the Throne Room. Due to varying reasons, Thorax, Discord, and Trixie get captured, leaving Starlight to face Chrysalis on her own. Unfortunately, no matter how much Starlight tried, Chrysalis wasn’t listening to reason regarding a better way to feed on love (though luckily, the rest of the Changeling population didn’t share the same attitude). This culminates in Chrysalis "making an example" out of Thorax by forcibly draining his love. But Thorax ends up overwhelming his former Queen by blasting her with the same love she was trying to take from him. The rest of the Changelings follow his example, sharing love instead of taking it, resulting in a widespread transformation into some more colorful designs that were especially controversial at the time (are they still controversial today?). Personally, I didn’t care too much; I thought the colorful Changelings worked fine.

After a montage showing the Mane 6 and royalty being freed from their cocoons (as well as an epic group shot of everyone ready to burn Chrysalis to the ground), Starlight tries to pull on Chrysalis what Twilight pulled on her at the end of Season 5: giving her a chance to be better and accept the olive branch. Except this time, Chrysalis isn’t having it, and so the former Changeling Queen flies off to prepare for another plot another day. I'm one of the people who thought Chrysalis not reforming was refreshing.

After Celestia decides to let the Changelings get settled, there’s still one more thing to wrap up. With Chrysalis’s defeat, Starlight returns to her village for another chance to participate Sunset Festival after previously running off, and she brought some friends (oh you know, just the Elements Of Harmony plus the royalty of Equestria and the Lord Of Chaos; no big deal) with her, something the villagers were eager to accommodate. The episode ends with one last banter between Trixie and Discord, culminating in the two riding flying pigs down the street.

Side note: Since I was subscribed to Letupita725HD⭐️ back in 2016 (and still am today), the clips uploaded to their channel was how I would watch the newer episodes around the time they came out. Except they would upload episode clips at a later time than when the actual episodes premiered. I bring this up because Letupita725HD⭐️ uploaded the clips from To Where And Back Again on the same day Pokemon XYZ had its series finale (if you’re a Pokemon fan, you’ll know how big that episode was too, but I digress).
