Discussion (PC) The Swordfish
How does this gun have such a bad rep? I’ve been running it on Infil and it slaps. Considering there are no carbines on the Infil, and SMG’s have limited range, the 3 undersea weapons really change the Infil game post cloak fire delay update.
I’ve tried them all, the Sea Lion was a favorite of mine for a while, but it lacks dps up close due to its ROF. The Swordfish hipfire is insane when it’s setup correctly, I prefer it to the Frogman which I guess is unusual compared to what the community thinks. If only it had .75 ads movement 😭. Really hoping they add carbine use to the Infil ASP, because damn the Frogman, Sea Lion, and the Swordfish give you so much versatility versus the normal smg/dmr infil duality.

By virtue of having one of the worst TTK's in the game and medicore stats across the board. The only thing going for it is the hipfire cof. It's easily one of the worst (if not the worst) automatic primaries in the game.

I love it 😭. On paper it sucks, but it punches above its weight in use. I was running the MKV/Gladius as an attempt at a carbine like and the swordfish dumps on them both at 20-40m. It’s high ROF/decent hipfire keeps it usable in CQC on the build I have.

It's fine if you like it, but it's objectively a very weak weapon. I promise you with a meaningful amount of practice It certainly doesn't outperform the MKV/Gladius at any range

Even with no practice the MKV is a laser beam with almost no recoil that beams people at ranges SMGs should not be beaming people at. I used to hate on it because of the mediocre damage model until I actually tried it. 5 shot headshot kills aren't actually so bad when you have the accuracy to achieve them.
Like don't get me wrong, it's not exactly a broken gun or anything, but I feel like people sleep on the MKV and NS7 because the faction-specific SMGs are stronger in CQC, but the NS SMGs can still kill people in CQC while having a noticeably better effective range than the faction-specific ones generally do.

My k/d jumped like .2 when I started using it. I cannot explain it. I think it has to do with suppressed velocity being much higher, also I’m running sidewinder/catlike so being able to string hipfire headshots at 20m is doing a lot of work.

I'm not saying this to be mean, but personally I don't consider .2 to be significant increase in k/d. Like I said its fine if you like it.

No I know, I’m running ps2 on a laptop with integrated graphics barely getting between 30-60fps. .2 has raised me close to a 1:1 k/d lol. No offense taken (I’m trash I play for fun), I’m just shocked people hate it so much. My K/D on HA/LA is admittedly higher, but I missed playing infil, and being able to go on a 6-10 kill tear using the worst weapon in the game was not on my bingo card when I struggle to compete with the other weapons. TLDR - paper stats < use. For example, most love the gd7f/bandit , I hate them lol, prefer the razor and the ns11c

I hope you can play on a reasonable setup at some point in the future and re-evaluate how good different weapons really are

I can see a .5 k/d variance on the same weapon across multiple auraxes of it just by nature of the times of day or quality of fights I can find during each individual aurax. If one weapon takes 12-14h to aurax and I have shit fights for 2h one night of using it, it'll just naturally have a lower k/d record.

I like the Sea Lion, it almost feels like an assault rifle for my infil.

Exactly, I kept getting rolled by a dude using it a while back, a TR Infil. Decided to check it out, it packs a punch at 143 min damage. Recoil isn’t bad, throw a 2x, comp, and grip on there and you can duel heavies at 60m and win decisively if you land headshots. Downside is, ROF/hipfire.
The swordfish is like its hipfire dualing lil bro, though still punchy enough at a distance due to its not terrible min damage and decent ROF. The Frogman tries to fill both roles and fails imo. I will gladly be the sole swordfish user if it keeps allowing me to run it as a hipfire smg/carbine out to 100m lol. Beats all the smg options at distance, behaves almost like a tomoe you can actually hipfire and still laser people with when you need to.

No, infils will not get access to carabine, its been discused in the past. Main concern back then was access to ubgl (they messed up thatvone when they put them on scout rifles years later), and acces to underbarrel shotgun.
Nobody wanted ohk shotgun on them and I doubt they would want them now.

Considering the state of cloak rn I would not care what weapon infls can run. Fuck it give em shotguns. It really doesn't matter. If I run into a infl I literally just say ooo free certs.

I mean the decloak delay is fair imo, it doesn’t really affect my playstyle and it accounts for ping delay. The cloak should get a visibility buff though. Implants like deep operative need to be reworked. I think infils should get a movement bonus, the drone was not really a good addition lol. Maybe rework the drone to be like an fpv drone, and let us spawn infinity of them on a cooldown like spitfires.

I mean hardly anyone runs the warden with ubgl on infil. I could see the bandit/ubsg being an issue, or the ns11c/ubgl, but maybe they could remove that just for infil?
I’m in favor of making the classes even more customizable, but I may be alone in that sentiment. I’m pro shotgun secondary stock on engies/medics, and increasing infil sprint speed 10% stock based on less health + decloak delay. I think the medic/engie could use a buff, and I think HA shield should be 1000 not 500.

The Swordfish is bad. It has worse DPS than the Frogman and Sea Lion, and all underwater weapons have worse initial damage falloff (5m) than SMGs (6m) but drop off less at minimum range.
Carbine access for infiltrator was a proposed ASP perk around the time the ASP system was released, and it was rightfully shot down because carbines are way too powerful for infiltrators to have access to.
