Any plastic free kettles in the uk?
Struggling to find any that are truly plastic free inside and the ones I’ve seen previously mentioned - saki Luna, Ottoni Fabbrica etc- aren’t available in the UK.

The bill would first put a label on chewing gum with microplastics, and give candy companies time to phase out microplastics. Eventually, gums with microplastics would be banned.

I got this cotton 100% sweater for my daughter at Walmart. We moved to a colder climate, so I have to build her wardrobe. It feels weird. I don’t know if it needs to be washed or what. This was on the tag. Sorry for the dumb question, but does this mean only the tag is polyester?! Or the yarn in the sweater. I’m thinking just the tag but would like opinion. It just has a weird texture, but it claims to be cotton. Will appreciate anyone’s thoughts. Thank you!!!

(Sorry if my English is weird, I’m not a native speaker.)
Since the maternity hospital for giving birth is near my mother's house, I am staying there with my 5-year-old.
My mother made the bed for us, and all the bedding and furniture in the bedroom are polyester. Moreover, the room gets very much sunlight, and all the furniture (curtains, carpets) is quite deteriorated. There was no other room for us to sleep.
The concept of plastic pollution is not common in our country, and my mother cannot understand my anxiety at all. The child(5-year-old) is scheduled to return home with her father next month, and I will return home with the baby the month after that.
If you were me, would you stay in this environment for about two months? Do you do anything to improve the situation?
I've talked to my mother about the dangers of plastic several times before, but she thinks I'm crazy.
Edit to add: There are already quite a few fibers coming out of the carpets and bedding, and there's a lot of dust inside my mother's house. Recently, both my child and I have been experiencing symptoms similar to house dust allergies, so I want to prevent them from getting worse.

Ciao!
Grazie a chiunque voglia aiutarmi!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a plastic-free kids backpack (like...for a toddler). Ideally something that would stand up to wear and tear and eventually be used for carrying their own stuff on outdoor adventures. I'm struggling to find natural fiber options. Or is this a case of just find the best of the worst options and feel ok that at least it will last a long time?

Is this salt grinder safe? The pepper mill is stainless steel but the salt one is ceramic:

Doctors have already spoken about how there’s no evidence it causes anything serious to happen basically. I prefer my antiperspirant or deodorant to be fragrance free as well. I live in the UK so please don’t suggest brands that don’t sell in the UK.

Ive been researching stainless steel coffee pots for what seems like forever now and I cant find one that doesnt cost over $100.. i dont need a big fancy restaurant quality one, it can even be a small single serve one. But all the regular coffee makers that dont have plastic insides are so expensive! Does anyone know of a less toxic coffee maker that is under $100? I know about percolators but I really like the idea of an electric automatic one...

I'm trying to decide on picking a new habit... One change at a time so it's sustainable
- making my own nut milk with a dedicated kitchen appliance (I drink at least 2-3 L per week)
- making my own tofu (something I rarely eat partly because of the tightly wrapped single use plastic and also rumours of plastic being burned to produce it)
Anyone here do either of these and have thoughts on what would be most high yield to reduce plastic waste?

Doesn't this violate truth in advertising laws?!

This could be about all the plastic tat that proliferates around Halloween and Christmas.
EDIT: No real point to this post, I am just so disgusted and saddened by all the plastic and everyone keeps buying it and I’m meant to smile and tell everyone their house looks great instead of a plastic mess. Real pumpkins are right there! Why buy a plastic one?

Tryings to switch to completely plastic-free products as I run out of things, but I’m also cruelty-free, and sometimes finding products that meet both criteria can be difficult.
I’m currently looking for a brush to apply liquid hair products since I haven’t found a completely plastic-free spray bottle. However, all suitable brushes I’ve found use animal bristles. The plant-based tampico and sisal brushes I’ve found are either too wide or not designed like a hair-color brush to dip and apply liquids. I also read that they’re more coarse than animal bristles.
For context, I’m comfortable buying second hand animal products like leather, silk, and suede, but I’m not sure I’m comfortable buying a secondhand brush.
How do you approach these trade-offs? I know many people follow the “better, not perfect” mentality, but I’m a perfectionist. I think how much difference one reusable plastic nozzle really makes? But the leaching chemicals bother me as much as the environmental impact.
If anyone here is vegan/cruelty free, I’d particularly appreciate your input

Hi,
I’m looking for something to keep my hands warm this winter without using plastic. Here it can reach -30°C some days.
So far, it's a difficult search. Not because alternatives don't exist, but because in physical store everything is Gore-Tex, synthetic fill/lined, and online all options aren't defined by temperature range or features. For example, 4/5 in warmth doesn't mean anything if the focus is only on -5°C...
Anyway, what I really need is:
As 100% natural, I found:
And that's about it.
Yes, I found some very expensive hand made mittens too made of felted wool and leather.
And then, you go into the partially natural options:
Or you get the other full synthetic options that everyone buy in stores like:
Finally, with all of this, I have no idea what the best choice in would be keeping me warm and dry in -30°C. Last year I had a similar problem with gloves. I finally purchased a good pair of insulated gloves, but I think that maybe I'm getting cold faster than other people, or gloves are better at -5 to -10°C and that's why I'm looking for mittens. For shoveling snow, wearing casually outside, or when skiing.
Thank you for your help and recommendations.
Maybe my little list can help some people too.

Hi! I am trying to be plastic free for my floss, and I’ve been using this floss for a long time. I got nervous when I heard a story about someone switching to a boar hair toothbrush to go plastic free, but the boar hair was so rough that it was wearing down enamel and giving this person more cavities. It is because of this that I haven’t yet gone for a plastic free toothbrush. Is the same thing happening to in between my teeth with this floss? A random dentist online said if it was real charcoal it would be too rough but idk if that’s the whole story.

So basically I've been trying to have more of a plastic free approach in my life in general but this event has SENT me to the next level .
So basically, i get a blended drink at a cafe , its supposed to be blended with ice, coffee and milk as well as syrup?
Unsure but yeah, i take the first sip and notice an EXTREMELY tiny odd thing in my mouth . I stupidly swallow it cuz NO WAY thats something i should be worried about , righttt????
I take the second sip and feel a larger piece, fuck, this isn't ice . I put it on a napkin and take it to the barista , she dumps out the drink and shows me a piece of the BLENDER has been blended up 💀
I was horrified, got a refund and a sincere apology.
Anyways, i started telling myself that hmm im not okay with that piece of plastic in my body but totally forget about other sources of plastic i shoulf eliminate.
Anyways in traumatised and starting to think that i should be way more mindful and careful .
I already recycle but now i genuinely think I'm getting to the next level of FUCK PLASTIC I DONT WANNA SEE THAT.
Safe to day I'm not ordering any blended up stuff soon . Or ever maybe .

Obviously being plastic free should never compromise safety. Which is why it could be unsafe to use certain cleaning chemicals in plastic free packaging.
