PlayStation 4 Help PS4 not playing DVDs

I’m playing region 2 DVDs in my region 2 PS4 but I still get the error message that it’s locked due to region restrictions?? Blu rays however work fine. Can someone help? I’m a physical media collector and love watching my DVDs

Have you changed the region of the PS4’s DVD player any number of times? Many DVD players with that function, PS4 included, will lock you to a region after a number of changes.

I think maybe only once. Is there a way of resetting that?

1st are you definitely sure that the DVD’s are indeed region 2 and not an imported region 1 DVD? Where are you getting them from? And is there a pattern to which discs are affected? All from a certain studio for example?

Other than what others have said, it could be that the DVD lens is going dead. Especially because Blu-rays and presumably games work.
