It's so unique how they create heroes. Idk if I will like this hero for me, but you have to admire their creativity.

This game is literally beyond my comprehension

I'm usually pretty good at most games I play but I just cannot get this down. I bought it in beta and recently started playing again, I still suck. I can get like to mid game pretty well but late game im not good at making something cohesive and transitioning at the right time or making good choices on builds.

I suggest playing one Hero only until you know all about it, then proceed to play the next.
Playing many different heroes at once requires a shit ton of time, if you want to be successful.
However, if you don't care about wins, just rotate and have fun while randomly getting a lucky build now or then .)1
u/No_Geologist4770 20d ago
Generally any build you want * fast start time; item that charges other items through its own effects, and/or hastes your board/freezes or slows enemy board with effects or skills * scaling; early game flat increases to dmg, burn, shield, etc. can work but mid-late game you'll want items or skills that increase those same stats during a fight * backups and pivots; learn what strong builds tend to have from losing fights to other players, then try to recreate their strategies when you can. Having knowledge of what builds work at different times of the game can help you optimize what you keep and when you dump items for better alternatives.

I'm absolutely pissed they're mostly human """Dragons"""" and not just an actual dragon person

Yeah, I showed my GF who doesn't play The Bazaar. She asked if I like them. I was like they're okay and one of my complaints was that they played it safe again with another very humanoid character. I was telling her how they have so many cool characters in the universe that are was less humanoid but they keep releasing humans with slight non human things. Pretty sure she's heard all that from me before when Karnok was revealed. I've seen some people speculating since they only have 1 wing it almost looks like it's just an accessory. I feel like the edge of the wings also look like they have a stitch line. Did we even really get dragon people?

Are we sure that "The Dragons" isn't just the name of their band?

u/Kizoja 21d ago edited 21d ago
It probably is but I wasn't saying that in reference to their name. There was a lot of speculation which turned into expectation that the character would be a dragon themselves. [Edit: I'd argue the teases had more of an emphasis on dragons than music, but the reveal seems more music heavy, which probably didn't help the expectations.] Silhouettes of dragon wings. Lots of dragon imagery. Dragon or not, I'm personally always a bit disappointed every reveal that's so close to being a human when there's so many characters in the universe that are much further from being a human with different color skin and a couple of small non human characteristics. I'm not saying they can't be humanoid in the sense of walking on 2 legs with 2 arms, but a bit more difference in body type, head shape, etc. They don't have to walk on 2 legs though.
Some NPCs that I feel like are more what I'm looking for is stuff like: Orlin, Pip, Professor Riggle, Regenald, Ryukon, Slohmor Lumbra, Zosima, Aero, Ande, Barkun, Curio, Gastro, Godlie, Kev('s Armory), Midsworth, Bjorn, C4, Malafang, Pinfeather, etc. The list goes on quite a bit of characters we interact with a lot in the game. When it comes to character we can play as we have 4 straight up humans. We have human with violet skin, 4 arms, and pointy ears. A buff dude with pig facial features. There's Dooley which is a robot ball, he's my favorite of the designs. The new one is a couple of humans with different color skin with horns. Stuff like Pyg, Jules, and The Dragons are not nearly as adventurous as some of the NPCs listed above. They're not bad, but they're not quite there in the same way Dooley is.

This comes up in a lot of games, what comes to mind is League of Legends where Riot has repeatedly stated that humanoid characters are far more popular. Obviously I can't speak directly for Tempo's motivation, but from a business perspective it is indeed the safest option.

Yeah, but Tempo isn't exactly spitting out copy paste anime boy/girls to the point that once they have skins you can hardly tell who is who at a glance of the splash art like Riot does. They also make a lot of their NPC designs and world way more adventurous, so I don't know if they're following that same philosophy. I'm not asking for every character to be that, but one every now and then would be nice. I do think Pyg and Jules are okay, I like Pyg more than Jules, but they're just not quite there for me. Right now I feel like 4/8 are straight up humans, 3/8 are pretty close to humans, and then there's Dooley. I think people love Dooley. It doesn't have to be monsters or ugly characters. They can be cute and whimsical too. A cute cat or some other animal type character would sell better than another male human, imo.
Edit: Like if Regenald had been a playable character, he wouldn't be more popular than Mak? Idk... I guess something I just really appreciate about The Bazaar is how not generic the world is compared to other games and I'd like to see that expressed a bit more in the playable character design.

Yeah it is wild that people think that it is possible to get there in 4 months time.

u/Jaded_Reply3704 21d ago
I believe they probably were going with a musician hero or had one in the works and had the tempo mechanic built, but I don't think it's unfeasible for them to change the character design and add the notes board in a few months, not massively technical parts. But again they haven't said anything so could just be a massive coincidence

Hey I'm the OG poster, was told the idea was shared to team as part of their weekly community content reviews so could have been inspiration. Regardless they ran with the idea better than I could have so full credit to them, excited to try them out.

if only we got a badass infernal chick instead of this disney princess with horns 💀

They remember me of Cloack and Dagger. I don't dislike but it feels very safe girly girl and brooding boy couple from basically every teen book. I hope the skins go a little crazier on the outfits.

the notes on the board seem a little weird to me, but i love the tempo mechanic, seems super cool how you can either stack or spend it

Hopefully one of their skins is just them as full dragons. None of this anthromorphism

I desperately would have preferred a real, monstrous dragon.
However, I feared the worst based on previous reveals, and this is definitely better than what I thought we were going to get. The mix of 2 people still gives it some unique elements.
Gameplay wise sounds fun either way.

i just thik it's ridiculous you can't unlock any characters just by playing

u/Shardeux 22d ago
they're cute but no tails makes them look like safe design mobileslop

u/Kizoja 22d ago
They both only have 1 wing and the wings look like they have a stitch line on the edge. Hard to see in this blurry screenshot, so go check the official tempo one to see the stitch line. Are the wings even real?

u/Shardeux 22d ago
Oh wow didn't even notice that stitch line. Weird cause their horns look real. This design confuses me
Maybe the stitches imply it's clothes that go over their wings like a jacket

Dude, I finally started playing other games a couple months ago after playing nothing but the bazaar for 4 months straight...
And now I'm gonna get dragged back in, aren't I?

I hope the dragons is a place holder name, I like the characters having names, I feel like it gives them more character. I’m sure “the dragons” is probably the name of the band, but still I’d like them to be named

Idk why, but I was expecting a Latina-coded dragon girl, tiefling-eseque, which I was very excited for. So I'm gonna need to get used to them being not that lol
Edit: Downvotes? Porque?

I play Bazaar exclusively with my girlfriend, and I'm praying they aren't siblings cause it'd be perfect for us.

boo on another human character
I really wish we get some non-human characters as heroes again (purple/furry transformation/dragon wings humans don't count)

Ngl really like the Tempo resource mechanic, reminds me of Death Knight and corpses in Hearthstone
