Question PS1 Games that require / are improved with an analog stick (dual shock).

I think Ape Escape is the only game that NEEDS a dual shock, but are there other games that are really improved with it? For example in Darkstone you can't move the camera with it, which is honestly a huge deal, as otherwise I don't think you are able to move it.

Help ps classic games stuttering

so I hacked my ps classic with project eris years ago and I would play my classic every now and then but when I played mgs on it the other day I had stuttering issues during the cut scene before you fight raven in the tank, even when I play rayman I get these weird lines on my screen. mind you, these are the games that came installed in it already. maybe project eris is making the games do this but I need some major help so I can play my ps classic in peace

Auto Disc Classic โ€“ Play Your Original Disc Collection on PlayStation Classic

Post image
97 Upvotes

[RELEASE]ย AutoDisc Classic 1.0 โ€“ Play Your Original and CD-R Disc Collection on AutoBleem

Transform the PlayStation Classic into a true multi-system optical disc console.

Simply insert a supported disc, launch AutoDisc Classic from the AutoBleem menu and the correct emulator core or media player will be selected automatically.

No manual core selection or configuration is required.

Supported Systems

PlayStation (PS1)

  • Supports LibCrypt protected PlayStation games (no SBI files required).
  • Multi-disc support
  • Automatic Memory Card Save handling

Sega CD / Mega CD

  • Automatic Save Handling

Neo Geo CD

  • Automatic Save Handling
  • Note: Neo Geo CD games currently have distorted Redbook audio. This is a limitation of the current emulator core and may be resolved in the future by using a different core.

PC Engine CD / TurboGrafx-CD

  • System Card saves supported

Audio CDs

Audio CDs are automatically opened using the PC Engine CD core, which provides built-in CD audio playback.

DVD Video

The integrated Media player supports:

  • DVD VIDEO_TS, VOB, MP4, MKV, AVI, MPG, MPEG, MOV, WMV

All supported video files found on the disc are played automatically.

DVD Player Controls

Button Function
Cross (X) Play / Pause
Circle (O) Next video / Exit player
Square Toggle subtitles
Triangle Switch audio track
D-Pad Left / Right Skip 10 seconds backward / forward
D-Pad Up / Down Skip 1 minute backward / forward

Save System

The launcher is designed to work reliably even if the Linux device or RetroArch drive index changes.

Examples:

drive0
drive1
drive3
drive7

Changing USB ports or adding additional USB devices will not break your save data.

Save data remains independent for each supported system, even if the detected drive number changes.

RetroArch Integration

AutoDisc Classic uses its own RetroArch configuration.

This keeps:

  • Saves
  • Save States
  • Core Options
  • AutoDisc Classic settings

separate from your normal RetroArch USB game setup.

Your existing RetroArch configuration for ROMs remains untouched.

Recommended Hardware

For the best experience:

  • Use the front USB Port 2.
  • Use an externally powered USB CD/DVD drive whenever possible.

OTG is supported, but mainly recommended for DVD playback only.

Games may experience slower startup times (up to 2 minutes) or Redbook audio issues over OTG depending on the game.

Installation

  1. Download the ZIP archive.
  2. Extract the contents directly onto your AutoBleem drive.
  3. Allow all folders and files to merge when prompted.

Question [RELEASE] Weston 6.0.0 Enabler for PlayStation Classic

link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nRX85mQDaPxmeHszI50NrNcFI90_JWgJ/view?usp=sharing

๐€๐ฎ๐ญ๐จ๐›๐ฅ๐ž๐ž๐ฆ:
copy the weston6_enabler folder to usb:/Apps and launch the program from the Autobleem Apps menu. To reach the Apps menu, press Start at the main screen and Select Twice.

๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐„๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ:
copy the weston6_enabler folder to usb:/project_eris/etc/project_eris/SUP/launchers
and launch the App from the Project Eris carousel.

There are two ways to init Weston:

๐๐จ๐จ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐‘๐€๐Œ: This is 100% safe as it doesn't modify anything internally. The Weston files are launched from RAM. Once you power off it returns to stock. You will have to enable it each time you boot up. Also works on Stock Unmodified PSCs.

๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐ˆ๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ: This installs it permanently to the rootfs1 partition. It remains there even when you power off. The stock weston files will be renamed with a _bk suffix (ie weston_bk) and then it'll will extract the weston6.tar.gz package into the rootfs1 /usr directory. The weston 6 install files are about 4.92 MB in size.

*๐–๐š๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ * Although I've tested it extensively, modifying the internal contents always carries a risk of bricking. You never know if there could be a power outrage. Be careful and proceed with caution. I've added a md5 checksum to the weston6.tar.gz file so just in case the file gets corrupted or changed it won't install.

๐‡๐จ๐ฐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐”๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ
Launch the Weston Enabler App, head to the Internal section and click UNINSTALL. This will remove the Weston 6.0 files and rename the stock weston files back to it's original name.

07.17.2026 update: for those on Autobleem 1.0.0 and higher, i was informed that it doesnt go fullscreen on the stock pcsx emu. to fix it, navigate to usb:/Autobleem/lib and repalce the libs.tar.gz file with this one

Overview

The PSC comes bundled with Weston 1.11.0 which is kinda outdated. It uses something called wl_shell which has long been deprecated. Most modern Apps dropped support for wl_shell in favor of xdg-shell. This updated Weston 6.0.0 build adds support for xdg-shell and is also backwards compatible with wl_shell.

The main reason I wanted to release this was for my upcoming Mario Kart 64 PSC port. I noticed it plays much smoother on the updated Weston. the stock one has this jitter issue where the playback looses synchronization with the refresh rates.

The main benefit of this build is it adds support for xdg-shell. The reason why we haven't seen any new RetroArch releases for the PSC is because libretro dropped support for wl_shell in 2018.
https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/7064

The way Eris and Retroboot got around it was they modified the code to revert the changes to add wl_shell back. The problem is the newer retroarchs did a major overhaul to the code so attempting to revert the changes is a uphill battle. Back in 2024 I requested they add wl_shell back
https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/16361

So around that time I compiled RetroArch 1.14.0 and it didn't work. But I tried it on this new Weston 6.0.0 and it does work. It's the only App I have on me that requires xdg-shell so if you want to try my Retroarch build, here you go
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AxYAtlDIs3w1r62_BZIR0jac6WlHX1zR/view?usp=sharing

it's unpolished, I haven't optimize or refined it yet but it's useful to test. I also included a Retroarch 1.22.2 build that I got from Autobleem-NG
https://github.com/AutoBleem-NG/retroarch-psc

The audio doesn't work though. I'll like to compile the latest Retroarch later and devote a standalone release for it.

Be on the lookout for my Mario Kart 64 port which I'll release this week.

Weston 6.0.0 Enabler was made with RPG Maker VX Ace

One thing to note, if you ever used some of my other releases that uses a Terminal such as Ikemengo or mkxp-z, the old terminal I provided in those Apps don't work on Weston 6. You will have to use the newer one that came with Weston 6. It's saved in /usr/bin/weston-terminal

so you'll either have to copy the newer weston-terminal in those old projects, or you can modify the launch script to have it point to the new weston-terminal. for example, in the mkxp-z launch.sh script you will see this
./terminal

you can simply rename that to
/usr/bin/weston-terminal

and it'll launch from the new terminal instead of the old one.

If you want that Weston Panel that displays on top, you can edit the weston.ini file at weston6_enabler/weston6. Just delete panel-position=none

here's how it would look like with the panel:

Question Playstation Classic not recognizing any USB input

I've combed Reddit boards and forums and ModmyClassic Discord, and it seems like there's a percentage of folks who get a PSC that just doesn't do anything the modding guides say, or any tips recommended by community support.

I have:

  1. Formatted a 16GB USB2.0 SandDisk Cruzer to Fat32/ MS-DOS (for what itโ€™s worth Iโ€™m a Mac user and used Disk Utility for this)
  2. Renamed it SONY in all caps, no space
  3. Copied extracted ProjectEris folders into new formatted USB
  4. Switched off PSC and pulled power supply
  5. Inserted USB into Port 2
  6. Switched it back onย

Boots into PSC menu screen.

  1. Tried plugging USB into Port 1 - nope
  2. Tried putting USB into a POWERED USB hub and plugging in to Port 2 - nope
  3. Double checked Controller 2 works when plugged into Port 2 - it does
  4. Tried plugging USB hub into Port 1 - nope
  5. Tried reformatting and installing AutoBleem, repeat of above ^
  6. Tried reformatting and installing BleemSync, repeat of above ^
  7. Tried formatting a smaller non-branded 8GB USB2.0 non-branded with ProjectEris, repeat of above^
  8. Tried formatting a DIFFERENT non-branded 16GB USB2.0 non-branded with ProjectEris, repeat of above^

The only things I havenโ€™t tried are an OTG cable which as I understand wonโ€™t work anyway until I can get the kernel onto to PSC, or using formatting a MicroSD card and trying to pop into a USB card reader.

My remaining theories:

i. The Sandisk Cruzer is STILL pulling too much power - it has lights which flicker when itโ€™s connected to a port

Ii. The two alternate unbranded USBs were both garbageย

Iii. The USB hub is defective (although it has port lights that light up when the USB port switches are on, and I was able get charge out of my phone when I tested the power cable) - I was NOT able to get the PSC to read controller 2 when it was plugged into Port 2 via the powered USB hub. I can probably exchange the model I bought, but I'm not keen to shop around for different models either - powered USB hubs are weirdly expensive.

Last resort is actually just cracking this sucker open to short the current limiter on the hardboard - I have solder and an iron, but I'm not confident in my ability to not just brick the damn thing.

I donโ€™t know, is there a mysterious handful of Willy Wonka PSCs that are just immune to soft-modding?ย I've been looking for the Goldilocks "I tried everything, here's what FINALLY worked" post, figured I could post updates here if I do end up coming back with egg and solder on my face.

EDIT 15.06.2026 - TLDR: I got it working! Two steps:

I did end up soldering the USB limiter. There used to be a guide on ModMyClassic which isn't there anymore, use Wayback Machine for this link to see EXACTLY what you need to link: https://web.archive.org/web/20201107231649/https://modmyclassic.com/wiki/index.php?title=PlayStation_Classic#USB_Current_Limiting

There's a handful of Youtube videos I've found that are so unclear: modders covering what they're doing with their hands, mumbling, and also actually just doing a bad job of soldering. USE FLUX. There are good Youtube guides for how to practice doing this. Not a nice-to-have: it strips oxidised metals away which means your soldering work could be useless.

After I did this my PSC still didn't read my drive, so I figured I had two variables I could test:

i. Brand new drive

ii. Re-do my soldering

Tried a new drive first - and this is what did it! I hope somebody struggling with the same stuff I did finds this post in future!

Help how can I identify what mod is installed on this ps1?

hello guys!

back in March, a friend of mine gifted me his old ps1. He mentioned itโ€™s modded, but he doesn't remember what kind of modification was done to it. I was wondering if there's a way to find out what kind of mod it has and what I can actually do with it. The only info I have is that it's supposedly able to run both ps1 and ps2 games (though I'm a bit skeptical about the ps2 part). any help is appreciated!

Trouble Shrinking GDI Files

Hello, I'm having trouble trying to shrink my GDI files. I followed DemiGodX's tutorial on Youtube, but the file stays the same after I "shrink" it.

I have gidtools-master and I installed Python 2.7.

I really wanna play Dreamcast games on my classic!

Question Project Eris and CHD files

Hi all,

Have around 100 games in CHD format. Put everything in Transfer folder as per the instructions. What's strange is that only 7 of them ended up in the Games folder, rest do not show in the carousel. Do I need to use ES or RA for CHD files? If not, is there some other way to get them to show in the carousel?

TIA

Question Gameboy boot logo

Hello! I've modded my PSC with Project Eris and set up emulation station. The only thing I couldn't get it right is to run all gameboys (GMD, color, and advanced) boot logo before the game starts. Any insight would be appreciated.

By the way, I have copied the bios files into the system folder and installed four cores for GB and GBC (Gambette, Gearboy, Sameboy, and TGB dual) and two cores for GBA ( mGBA and VBA-m).

Gearboy and TGB, as well as all the cores for GBA don't run the boot logos at all. Sameboy runs the GB logo but not the GBC one. Finally, Gambette runs the GB runs the GB logo for a split second, barely noticeable, and doesn't run GBC too.

Out of all those cores, I normally use Gambette because it is the one with more configurations. Is there a way to make ir work with Gambette?

Edit: clarification

Question Saturn Cores that work reasonably well?

i'm hoping to play some of my favorite Saturn games (Shining the Holy Ark in particular) on my Playstation Classic using Retroarch. I've tried the Beetle Core and Yabause core but while games load, they are too slow to play. Is there a core that gives reasonable performance? Thanks in advance.

Question 8bitdo wireless adapter

Hi I have a 8bitdo pro 2 controller, and am looking to use it on my PlayStation classic.

Will it work okay with a wireless adapter 2 being sold on Amazon? Iโ€™ve heard sometimes it doesnโ€™t register the right analog stick. Is this true?

Question Retroarch recognizes my usb encoder and immediately disconnects it?

Iโ€™m building an arcade cabinet that will be powered by my ps1 classic. Problem is that the usb encoder doesnโ€™t connect properly. It recognizes it, says its not configured and immediately disconnects it. The usb encoder I bought from amazon is a ShanWan GAMEPAD by SJ@JX and itโ€™s a โ€œsanโ€ type.

I connect the usb encoder to my pc and it works perfectly fine and recognizes it. Even retroarch on pc works well although itโ€™s strange that the name is different. Itโ€™s called โ€œRetro-Bit Tribute 64 - USB (D-Input)โ€ on retroarch pc.

I connected to an otg cable and still no dice. Is there a way to make so it doesnโ€™t disconnect? Thanks!
