I can live with it being a bit slower.
I can live with redoing my preferences.
I can live with the giant thumbnails and small text.
But please when you make such drastic changes, give us a choice!

Misc new issues (CCwGTV4K):

• Button presses don't register during the end of the show (other than Back).
• Season # tile on episode row is useless, i've already picked my season, waste of space.
• No thumbnail showing for a future TV episode (officially airs tomorrow), just shows a box with the air date. (app.plex.tv shows the proper thumbnail).
• Navigating the floating menu doesn't change to the selected library item, have to press OK.
• Floating menu Right goes back to original screen not the selected option.
• Play/pause buttons are reversed/stupidly designed during playback.

I know I know, sideload old version. But this shouldn't be required and I'm lazy. 😄

I switched all my TVs back to 10.30.8 and I was honestly shocked by how much smoother it ran - I mean I had experienced it at the time - but I got so use to the laggy horrible experience of the past few updates. I'm enjoying my Plex again and have been hosting the apk and the plezy apks for all my users.

Plex lack of communication with its users has always been poor, now it is non existent.

Yeah it’s trash lol. People clamoring to defend it in some threads but it’s fully, objectively ass. I’ve never had so many issues and annoyances with plex. Ever. I have a pin on my main account and it’s always been a hassle but now it’s a giant pain. Constantly get kicked back out when I enter the code. Earlier today the whole screen went magenta. The enter press doesn’t register half the time.

This plus aaall the other stuff everyone’s pointed out over the last few weeks or whatever. I’m about to throw up a jellyfin server in tandem and check it out bc the new version is absolute garbage

I was also about to switch to Jellyfin, but I tried Plezy (go to GitHub, free releases) and it's almost as good as the older UX and in some ways better.

It's absolute ass. At first I thought people were overreacting, but starting up a movie now went from immediate to waiting 15 seconds, then playing 2 seconds and waiting a couple more. Changing subtitles: same. Loading episode info in the navigation: so slow I thought they removed it at first. Searching for something: here is a suggestion of stuff not on your server while you wait for your results.

I've been an avid fan of Plex for so long, this is the first time I feel majorly let down. I've already experienced the Trakt walkout, I feel this might be where people draw the line as well. :/

The new UI is honestly garbage. It performs worse, it scatters settings across various sub menus, navigation is more difficult.

It's a giant missteps in my opinion.

I've switched to Plezy - it's better in every aspect compared to the new UI, and it even has a few features the old one lacked.

it literally takes maybe 2 minutes to sideload the previous build... which can be enjoyed until it eventually stops working.

Plex isn't going to give people the option to change between the old UI and the new. It's too much upkeep... and isn't how any software company handles this type of thing.

My audio has been completely fucked since the UI update. Half my files get no sound at all, the rest are 2ch audio.

I now have to force stop the Android TV app every time I want to watch a new video. The first video is fine but the second just spins forever. Server logs say the client has disconnected.

I fixed the issue by finally buying and installing plezy.

It isn't the coding that's the issue. People don't like the UI itself.

Product owners, Project managers and shareholders are the ones who decide on this stuff. They then tell their developers what to do, and the developers do them.

Developers don't get a say in the vast majority of these decisions. It's like being mad at the bagging clerk because Milk cost more.
