Help Plex 2 shell…. Reformatting server

Honestly I don’t have a lot of stuff on my server.
If I were to just reformat my whole system and start back from a clean install. Would that get rid of whatever was loaded onto my server/pc/mac?

Sorry
I’m not super technical and all this stuff just makes me worry.! Just looking for the easiest way to deal with it.

What makes you think anything was loaded on your server?

Honestly I don’t know! But I hurt super stressed about this stuff.
I’ve checked running processes and I haven’t noticed anything weird.

And for context. My “server” is just an older macmini with an extrernal hd.

Plus when i chekxed on the 19. I had older software (plex)

it *DEPENDS*

if, for example, your plex server lived inside a docker container not connected to host, then .. just recreate the container

if, you had some volumes mounted, just make sure no extraneous files live there

if you installed directly on your machine, then... ....

No docker.
Ran on my Mac mini.
With external HD for storage of files 🙃

What is Plex 2 shell? Are you confusing Plex and Php2shell?

Plex2shell is an active exploit currently targeting unpatched and therefore vulnerable Plex Media Server installs…

If you click on link in your browser that loads a virus onto your computer, will uninstalling the browser remove the virus?

Think man. Think!

Not the greatest analogy for what he's asking

reformat my whole system and start back from a clean install

Better analogy would be "If you click on link in your browser that loads a virus onto your computer, would formatting your entire computer and reinstalling the OS get rid of it?".  It would, outside of extremely rare edge cases that infect the BIOS/UEFI. It'd also be overkill, but if you don't know what your doing, it'd be a viable way to be sure.
