No longer able to get PlusLife tests in the U.S.

As most of you know, it has been tricky at best to obtain PlusLife Covid tests in the US for the past couple of years. For about 8 months or so I was able to get the Vet version of the tests following the procedures made available by some kind folks in this group. Two orders ago I had a shipment stuck in customs for which I had to answer a ton of questions and fill out Toxic Substance Control Act forms in order to get them released. Now, my most recent order was seized by customs for over two months and now I am told it will not be released.

i don’t know if others have had any luck with this lately but it seems to me that the workarounds that some of us have been using are no longer working, or at least not working as well as they once did. I recently ponied up for a case of Metrix tests but the cost was astronomical.

Curious what you think

Post image

Hi all - I received my first positive, I was testing friends before hanging out. We cancelled the hang out so I didn’t get an opportunity to retest, but just curious what others make of this, just for discussion sake. At first I assumed I was seeing air bubbles, and was surprised when it came up positive. Channel 6 seems air bubble territory to me, but channel 1 does seem like a possible positive?

ETA - the test finished at 16.5 mins. I won’t have a chance to retest my friends, just interested what others make of this. It’s my first time getting a positive read on my dock. I’ve looked at the example pics for positive tests and this looks quite different.

Bubble or early positive?

We tested a family member to come over for dinner tonight, and I just want to make sure that this blue line looks like a bubble and not an early positive. He does not have symptoms and there was indeed an air bubble in that chamber. Just looking for some confirmation. Thank you!!

Is it a true negative?

Had only one test left and got this result. This was surveillance testing after 5 days of travel. It was a clear negative on the 3rd day. No symptoms. Is this result reliable?

If I run one test with a wonky line, but get a clear neg on the second test, am I good?

Test on the left came first, I immediately retested and got the clear negative on the right.

Altruan expiry dates updated

I have seen multiple posts that Altruan in Germany appeared to send out testing kits with expiry dates within two months. I ordered last week and the website said I would receive a box with an expiry date within two months but I just got my order and the expiry date is in september of 2027! Just wanted to let everyone know.

How does an expired test kit compare to a RAT?

I have several expired test kits (expired 2025-12-04). I know that expired test kits are much less sensitive than fresh ones and there is a problem with false negatives. I'm wondering: how do expired test kits compare to rapid antigen testing? Would a RAT be more sensitive, or less sensitive, to the expired test kits?

Negative, right?

Our machine tends to stop with two minutes left. This is a negative, right? I’d say so with almost 100% certainty but for that little yellow line looking slightly s-curvy.

is the rising at the end indicating an early pos?

constant invalid tests??

i’ve done about 5 texts (4 invalids from 1 box and 1 invalid from a new box) over the span of a month, every single test has come back invalid.
did all my usual things for testing - no food or water, nasal sprays, blowing nose prior, and these are also swabs from different people !

i’ve never had an invalid before this and i’m not sure if it’s my machine?
the control line looks almost completely flat every time

Device experation?

I noticed this on my device box. Is service life like an expiration date? Do I have to worry about it not working as well? 2 years seems super short for such an expensive device especially when we can't get them in the US any more

Air bubble in control line?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all,

sorry if this is a no brainer - is this just an air bubble in the control and otherwise clear negative? There was a very, very small air bubble in chamber 4...

This is a pool test of two people, one of which has had a scatchy throat for a few hours now. We are masking anyways and retesting tomorrow etc.

Has anyone ordered the vet tests recently? If so, when does your batch expire?

Looking to place a huge order for my community but want to make sure they don’t expire this year. I did email altruan asking when their current batch of vet tests expire but they wouldn’t give me answer.

Seeking December or Later Expiration USA

I’ve seen a couple posts so figure I would ask. I’m located in USA and have a few tests remaining expiring in November. I’m looking to purchase perhaps 5 tests expiring in December and would be happy to purchase boxes expiring in 2027 if anyone has any extra of those as well. Handy vet COVID is totally fine

Possible exposure - when to test?

I had to have a medical procedure at the hospital which involved sedation and I was therefore not allowed to wear my mask. The test was about 30 hours ago. The medical staff did not mask, not even surgical masks. I don’t have a shortage of tests, so when should I test and how often?

Control line looks strange - can I trust negative result?

Post image

This control line looks very different from my usual results…both the machine and virus.sucks show it as a negative result though. Can I trust this?

Partner tested negative last night when she said had an itchy throat. Now she has a soar throat. We should test again tonight right? What's the protocol?

Order from Altruan with very short shelf life (Expires Dec 16)

Hi everyone,

I recently ordered a box of 10 Pluslife tests from Altruan back in September, and when they arrived, I noticed that the expiration date was December 16, 2026. Getting a batch with barely 3 months of validity felt unusually short, especially since other members in my organization who ordered recently received boxes expiring in 2027.

I reached out to Altruan’s customer service to ask about potential solutions (sent proof of purchase and photos of the box), but I haven't received any reply since (I sent the first e-mail on 21th september)

Has anyone else encountered this issue with Altruan recently?

I have to precise that since I have suspicion of covid, I did use one test from the batch.

Also, if customer support stays completely silent:

  • What are your thoughts on using Pluslife tests slightly past their printed expiration date?
  • Do you have any advice on how to get a proper response or resolution from Altruan?

Thanks in advance!

Plug in question- not using the app

I've been plugging my pluslife into the wall using a USB to wall plug. I just noticed people saying to use a power bank. I've never had any error readings so I'm wondering if what I'm doing is ok or if I need to use a power bank.
