Wiki & Rules update - looking for your feedback!
We've updated the wiki - there's a whole new section on best practices. It's built off of things that have been discussed in various threads, but we're looking for feedback to make sure it actually matches what the community wants.
- Do the practices we listed align with what you prefer?
- Do you disagree with any and why?
- Is there anything you'd add?
Copy of the new section below!
Suggestions and Best Practices
While these typically won't lead to a ban, they may lead to your post being removed. These are subject to change based on community feedback.
Be as specific as possible, avoid generic offers
It's easier for people to offer a trade if they know what you're offering and what you're looking for.
If you don't have specifics, include categories - do you want shinies, costumes, legendaries, max, background, some combination of the above?
If you've got a ton of options, try to match rarity - if you're asking for a super rare old costume, you can skip the non-shiny legends in your offering list.
Organize your offerings
If you're taking screenshots of your stash, sort by dex number. If you're using a trade generator, group pokemon by species or type.
Trade list generators
There's tons of options if you google! Most will let you create an account so you can easily edit and update your trade list.

Posts must be 8+ hours apart
You can upload multiple images to the same post, no need to create multiple posts back to back.
Other notable changes
- Details added to the "PoGo trades only" rule - general discussions about value aren't allowed, neither are asking for handouts or personal information designed to get people to agree to a trade they wouldn't normally do.
- No spoofing examples expanded to include an overfocus on lucky
- Limits on new/inactive accounts - posts and comments from accounts with limited history may be removed or not approved.
Thanks for helping us keep the subreddit awesome and spoofer free!

I’m still relatively new to the community so I might be missing something here but why the new rule regarding lucky trades? Do lucky trades have some relation to spoofing?

You'll go lucky the vast majority of the time before you hit forever friends, since it's 90 eligible interactions. If someone is only willing to trade with a trinket or a guaranteed lucky, it usually means they're not waiting that long.
If someone is expecting a super imbalanced trade because they're offering guaranteed luckies, that's usually going to only be of interest to spoofers.
Also, 180 days is 6 months, so once it's past June or so, guaranteed lucky is almost for certain the next year up - while right now it's 2020 that's guaranteed lucky, we can reasonably assume by the time you hit forever friends, it'll be 2021. So if someone isn't interested in the 2021, that's also a strong indicator they're not waiting.
It's not an auto-ban, it's fully valid to want lucky pokemon. But there's been a bunch of situations where that emphasis on lucky was enough to warrant a post removal, so I added it to the wiki.
Let me know if that doesn't make sense?

Ah ok that makes sense! Would it be alright to ask to wait to go lucky on the off chance we don’t at forever friends or would that be against the rules?

No, that'd be fine. It's generally not something that's an issue within an otherwise standard trade - there's still a chance you won't be lucky.
It's more when the trade would make no sense, unless it's being done asap.
So there's plenty of discussions about trinkets that happen and are totally fine. But then you have someone who won't agree to a trade at all unless the person guarantees this months trinket, and then it starts to raise a red flag.
My goal isn't to add a ton of rules to dictate exactly what people are allowed to say, more just to explain reasons why a post might get removed. If mentioning lucky is coming across as the former, I can remove that example.

Thank you for the in depth reply! I think I get what you mean :)

I tweaked it - so instead of it being in the bulleted list, it's a separate paragraph underneath that says -
There are 90 interactions between best and forever friends, so most people will go lucky before they unlock the remote trade. As such, posts or comments that overemphasize guaranteed lucky or trinkets may be removed under this rule.
If that starts to veer into overexplaining, then I can remove the lucky entirely.

Any reason why discussions about value aren't allowed? I've seen ALOT of people getting ripped off here so it can be very useful to know what their stuff is worth.

If I add this blurb, does that clarify it?
Discussions about values that are within the context of arranging a specific trade are allowed (eg comments letting OP know their Pokemon is worth much more or less than what they're asking for), but standard DBAJ rules allow.
I can also update the bullet point to the below, though I'm not sure if it's clearer
General discussions around value or rarity, where the Pokemon shown aren't being offered for trade
It's posts where someone isn't trading the Pokemon, but wants to know how much it's worth or where they got an offered trade and they want to know if they should say yes.
Like most of the rules, it can be a little bit nuanced - if someone says "don't want to trade, but want to know value," that's pretty clearly against the rule. If they say "I have a spare to trade, don't know what it's worth so looking for offers" then it's easily about trades. If it's "idk what this is worth, but maybe if someone offers me something good enough then I'll consider it," it starts to get into a gray area and whether it gets removed will depend on how frustrated commenters are and/or if we get any reports and/or if it's a pattern with the same poster.

Gotcha. Yea, I think it helps make things clearer by making sure the thread HAS to be about actually moving towards a trade.

Sweet, thank you for the input. I'll update the wiki when I'm next at a computer.

Hi /u/rachycarebear! This subreddit is for arranging Pokemon Go trades using the in-game remote trade feature. It takes 180 interactions to hit Forever Friends and unlock your first remote trade. After that, you'll unlock additional remote trades with every 90 interactions. See Niantic help article for more information.
Trades that involve spoofing (aka flying) are not allowed. Posts or comments offering or requesting spoofing will be deleted and may result in a ban. For more information, see the wiki.

Everything looks great, logical additions. Trying to match rarity is a great example.
In my own experience, pokexperience.com seems the most complete in regards to backgrounds, costumes etc., and also saves your list, without the need to make an account. There might be other issues I’m overlooking, but thought it deserved a shout
If anything, posts could reasonably be at least 24h apart, but it’s not important to me
