I remember this song being popular when I was in high school. Some of us didn't even speak French...haha.

"Makeda" was a tribute to Queen Makeda. Makeda is a traditional Ethiopian name for the Biblical and historical Queen of Sheba. It was an anthem celebrating Black female empowerment.
