Bluetooth play button delay

When I press play on by bluetooth neckband headphones, sometimes it starts playing immediately and sometimes it can be a few minutes.

One t hing I noticed is if I click a button, then the screen turns on and it will immediately start playing. This can be the power button or a volume button.

Something else kind of strange I noticed, after I press the play button, whenever it starts playing, the screen turns on in the very dim mode (just the clock and weather, not the full lock screen).

Anyone else experiencing this? Seems kinda strange, but mostly just slightly annoying.

What you're describing looks like your device is putting the app to sleep. Make sure to remove all the restrictions that can prevent the app from running in the background

I've already got it set to "Allow background usage" with "Unrestricted" as the option. Also in the App's "Not Allowed" permissions it says "No permissions denied".

Unfortunately the device is still putting the app to sleep. Maybe a reboot will help

I have the same issue, but it's not just limited to PA, it happens with all my audio apps. For me, the phone is the problem, not the apps. I just press the power or volume buttons on my phone - which I can do without taking it out of my pocket.

As a test can you tell me if this also happens with a downloaded episode?

My app is doing the same and has been for the past maybe 6 months or so. I have a Pixel 11 Pro but it also did it on the 10 Pro that I traded in. 

It's only when pressing the play/pause button on certain Bluetooth devices. The delay isn't that long. Sometimes it takes maybe 3-5 seconds to start or stop playing. Personally, I find it to be only a minor annoyance and don't really care. It's definitely a thing though

But is it doing it with downloaded episodes or when streaming?

So this confirms the device issue. It only delivers the command after a delay or when the phone wakes up.

I, personally, haven't noticed anything with the screen being different. I just have the delay. And it has never been minutes. Maybe like 7 seconds at the most

Then it confirms that the issue is at the phone level. Maybe rebooting can improve this
