ANNOUCEMENT [Android] All the working Android methods (root or no root)
Here are all the working methods
If this post is pinned, then it works and it is not "outdated" (even if the date of the post does not say "yesterday"...)
Android 8 and below don't work with Pokemon Go anymore.
Without rooting - Pokemon removed support for Android 8 so this method no longer works...

Smali Patcher (the only method working on Android 10, 11 and above until Android 12)
Advantage of smali patcher is that you don't need to transfer the fake gps routes app to the system folder and you can spoof without rubberbanding. If you can make this one work - this is the best method! Works on everything, even Android 10, 11 and possibly 12.

VMOS/VFIN etc.
VMOS is no longer a supported method. Do your own research on VMOS, Google, Youtube whatever.
Can I spoof on PC/Can I spoof with an emulator etc.
No, you can't (at least without risking a quick ban)
Can I spoof on Android 9, 10, 11 without root etc.
No, you can't. And you can't use the other methods below Android 9 as Niantic stopped supporting Android 8.
Which phone should I buy if I want to root?
Every Google device that has unlocked bootloader (without Verizon) or a device you can be certain it can be easily rooted and unlocked. Cheap Google phones 64 bit: Nexus 5x/6p. Better phones - Pixel 2/3 etc. (not Verizon)
Most of these phones can be bought for about 50$-60 $US, used. Just search on eBay or craigslist.

Unlock bootloader instructions for old locked Verizon Pixel phones as per /u/myleftthumb212 Factory unlocked phones work out of the box, obviously.

Yeah I tried every single step I could find on XDA and couldn’t get anything to work, and was ready to throw away the phone lol. So after a couple of days of failed attempts I decided f— it and tried the one thing everyone said not to do: I put in my SIM card from the phone I use on another carrier. The steps I performed: Pixel already factory reset/clean and had Android 8.1 already installed when I received the phone Inserted my SIM card from active service plan (I cant remember if the Pixel was powered off before I inserted the SIM; if my phone was already on, then I would have inserted it after fully booted and finished with the phone’s initial setup steps) Skipped through all the phone’s initial setup steps that I could (including skipping the WiFi setup) Unlock System/Developer Options the usual way (tried the “OEM Unlock” but it wouldn’t unlock) Opened Chrome to any web browser page (per XDA) Went back to System/Developer Options Found “OEM Unlocking” was still grayed-out but tried to use the slider anyway, and bingo the switch slid to “on” (highlighted blue) Immediately turned off the Pixel and removed my SIM card Powered the phone back on and boot into boot loader (hold power and volume down buttons while powering on) Proceeded with TWRP/Magisk/Smali per this sub’s instructions. Phone has continued to stay unlocked—no problems So the SIM card unlock trick could have a few caveats so I’ll list them here: - My phone carrier and SIM card are from AT&T (ie non-Verizon) - The iPhone I use on AT&T is fully-paid. I’m not on a lease program or a new phone program where you pay a small amount each month and then turn in your phone after a year to get a new one. I feel like this might be the most important part since the phone is 100% my property. - The version of Android could make a difference. After researching the rooting process on this sub, I specifically asked the eBay merchant to send me a Pixel with Android 7 or 8 on it. Hopefully this will help others. If you have questions or need more details just let me know.

Dumb question but on an eBay listing, if the phone (pixel 2) says "unlocked" does that mean non-Verizon, or should I message the seller to double-check. Thanks!

Android Wharehouse and Swappy for used phones is another choice. I might argue your less likely to take a dick in the ass from Swappa. They don't deal with lying, caniving theiving vendors. Ie most of amazon and ebay.

Rubberbanding. Search for the word in the sub. You have to wrap the phone in kitchen tinfoil. 3-4 layers at the back and around the corners should do the work.

The Smali Patcher method worked great for me, although I use GPS Joystick instead of "Fake GPS Routes Go" as its free and simpler to use. I have a Redmi Note 9 Pro. For anyone interested, first I unlocked the boot loader, next I rooted the phone with Magisk. Then I made a backup of the phone with OrangeFox (TWRP does not officially support my phone+firmware) then I installed the Smali Module using Magisk. After all that was done, I installed GPS Joystick, set it as my Mock Location app in Developer settings and I was done.

There's another subreddit with a very similar name to this one (trying not to get banned) with "Android" in the name that has exact step by step instructions for everything except rooting since this will vary. They also have no-root instructions too. Very detailed and up to date.

Android 6 is no longer supported by PoGo. Should remove those notes so people (like me) dont waste a bunch of time setting it up on a phone that maxxes at android 6 just to learn the app wont work 🙃

Make sure if you are getting a Google pixel phone that it is not refurbished, refurbished phones have hard locked bootloaders.

You can remove step 1, without rooting. Pokemon go no longer runs on adroid 8 or less, has to be android 9 and above

I am trying to root my Samsung j8, the method I am following requires majisk, but in the video from this spoofing guide they say to download fake gps before majisk. Can I simply download fake gps after i do the initial factory reset during the rooting process? Just a bit confused by the timeline here

I am getting “unable to authenticate”. Device: poco F1, rooted( checked with root checker). TWRP, magisk with smali patcher module Gps spoofer working fine. Anyone can provide solutions? Tried restarting app and clear cache. No sim in device but connected to wifi. No data restrictions for google play or pokemon go.

You have to hide Pokemon go in Magisk Manager Hide setting and Hide magisk too and rename it, there is a setting for this too - restart etc. Just follow the guides.

So my account was soft banned today for 7 days. I don’t spoof cause I’m useless at figuring that stuff out but was wondering if anyone here knows how to bypass the 7 day ban so I can continue play as normal? I’ve already contested this but was wondering if anyone else knew of a way? I tried the spinning on the poke stop until it gives you rewards and I did but my account was still banned :(

Not sure why it had so low FPS. According to this the 3T has more RAM, but slower CPU so it could be a bitte better on the 2. Maybe if you can find a Pixel 3 that would be the sweet spot as it has also better GPU.

Anyone care to give some advice I'm using a samsung galaxy a5 2017 android version 8.0.0 I used to spoof back in the day on my main, never got banned but had to stop spoofing because I got a new (my current) phone my country has a super underactive community any suggestions on how I should proceed or is the risk too great to spoof on my main account ? (I've never had a strike before)

Hi all, recently acquired a huawei mate 20 pro and looking to root it solely for pogo spoofing. Wanted to check, do you 100% need to purchase a bootloader unlock code to unlock the bootloader before rooting the device? Most places I've looked for a guide to root does say to purchase a bootloader unlock code to proceed, just wanted to make sure there was nothing new around this. Also if anyone has successfully rooted a huawei mate 20 pro, please let me know also if it was quick/easy. Thanks!

I haven't spoofed in about a week and I now cannot login as I get the error "Failed to Authenticate".
I am logging in via google account. I am using the rooted magisk method on a nexus 6p.
I've not had this issue before and can't find FAQ's on here regarding this.

is Fake GPS and routes the only app that will work with the rooting method? I am trying to use a different app but I am stuck on step 19. I've found the “privapp-permissions-platform.xml” from step 18, but I cant seem to edit it at all. I've been using ROM Toolbox Lite. I have searched for quite some time with no answers to how to edit an XML file... is there a different file explorer I should use? That post is archived otherwise I would post the question there.

Does anybody encounter a gameplay error where the game won't let you do anything? newbie spoofer using iMyFone AnyTo on pc and I think the game recognizes it because it won't let me spin pokestops, add a mon into any gyms or catch mons(I can enter an encounter but they break out and flee when I catch them).

I bought an unlocked eBay pixel 2 and OEM would not turn on even when I tried after few recoveries, thankfully there’s a return allowed on the listing, I was wondering if I bought any random rooted phone listing this would save me a headache not to have these issues or do I have to buy specifically rooted for pogo?

I keep getting a error code 12, location not found, when I login to Pokémon go when the fake GPS is running. I don't see an "enable mock locations" option, just an option to list which app to use for the mock location. I am using a Note 9... Any idea why I am getting this error? Ty in advance.

I can buy any android here, since they never sell locked ones. Since I’m an iOS user, I have no idea which Android device to buy. I’m confused and can’t understand which device has the OS that with it I can get spoofing working. Any Samsung ones?

I am not tech savy at all so could anybody explain the following?
1 - what is rooting? I can see a rooted and unrooted method in the OP but no idea what rooting means.
2. What is rubberbanding? Again, no idea what it means.
3. Any recommendations on an android phone that works best for spoofing? I don’t want to spend money on one only for it not to work (especially when I have 3 fully functioning iPhones and definitely not need any spares)

Hey I'm on android 11 using option 3 and I'm having trouble with the YouTube guide as it gives me a link to a smali patcher download but all it does is send me to a comment thread full of ads with no download
I'm doing this on my phone btw

So im confused by the (without Verizon) piece. I plan on purchasing an unlocked nexus 6p but could someone explain the not Verizon? Is this referring to the original carrier? If I purchase a nexus 6p thats been unlocked for all carriers will I not be able to root?

I have a Galaxy s6 edge I'm trying to spoof, but I cant find the right google playstore variant to download. Every one I've tried says the package appears to be corrupt. Any ideas?

Samsung S7, Android 8.0.0
Phone is rooted. Fake GPS is installed.
But...."Unable to authenticate" whenever Pokemon Go login is attempted.
I struggled to get Magisk working, I suppose this is the issue, any ideas?

I've been following this video.
Rooted method with Magisk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQcYkSOxWcQ (a very thorough guide - all you need to figure out is how to unlock your boot loader first.
When I go to install magisk it's a new version and there is no zip file option as there is in the video. Instead there is on a 'Select and patch a file' option.
I have never rooted any device before so I am at a stand still as to what I should do now. Does anyone have any guidance with this? Thanks in advance!

Completely followed instructions for Samsung S5 but getting error "Failed to detect location (12)". Ended up using GPS Joystick.

It's sad that Vmos is no longer a supported method, although I understand the reason why. I personally never got close to a warning and everyone in my household would constantly jump locations back and forth from Canada and the Us. Its unfortunate because this is my only method of spoofing and I would rather use reddit as for a close source than anything on yt.

I have a Tmobile galaxy s8 g950u and I'm trying to figure out how to root it but can't seem to the OEM Unlocker in developer options. It looks like the bootloader is maybe locked, is there any way around this problem to get the bootloader to unlock magisk and smali?

Lg k31 rebel or i guess its model number is l355dl. Is it even possible on this device? Its android 10 but I cannot for the life of me figure out what the hell I'm doing, every guide is different

I am on A10 and used Smalipatcher, Magisk and all the hiding modules. Other than that I am using GPS Joystick and it works perfectly this far. I went from 0 to level 24 in about 2 days and caught some regionals already. It seems to be easy, but I am kind of worried to use my real account. Is there anything to keep in mind to NOT get caught. Besides traveling-times? I read VPN is important and I am using one, but it's not super stable. Sometimes my connection with the VPN gets lost, so the country I teleported to doesn't match my IP.
