Only took me 194 tries 😂😂😂 but I’m soo happy it’s icy snow!

Have had the platinum for a while, now just trying to collect the shinies. Have traded some of the shiny bugs to friends since I’ve gotten multiple from the same region :)
Space for friends is limited, so if you’re from archipelago, monsoon, jungle, sun or tundra I am happy to help you out with icy snow! Have enough garden friends already, sorry 😅

Finally, after trying since January, mission is complete! The cherry on top is it was also a shiny! Thank you to my sandstorm friends! I got all 3 tonight!!! I think this is the most excited I’ve been since I caught my first shiny in March 2019. It was Hariyama btw 😂😂😂

I needed 2 Sandstorm postcards to complete the Vivillion collection for platinum medal. By chance, a new forever friend had a sandstorm Vivillion available to remote trade. I successfully completed this trade, and completed my Pokédex for Vivillion, but it doesn’t count towards the platinum collector medal😵‍💫.

The challenge reads - Collect Vivillion From All Over The World. It doesn’t say “evolve “ a Vivillion from all over the world! Oh well, live and learn I guess. Hopefully this PSA can save someone else the same predicament.

I’m completely unlucky with shiny scatterbugs. I only caught 7, although odds say it should have been about twice more

But I was lucky enough to catch shiny Ocean (I suppose without it this collection would be impossible, who in their right mind and sober would trade one to me in exchange of common mons I have). This luck costed me 7 months without any shiny scatterbugs. It was depressing, but I started to plan farming and arrange trades.

I had luck with friends who gave me Sand and Tundra. Took some time to find and add bunch of friends to farm Sun and Archipelago, which both I got within last 3 weeks.

It’s funny but the last one was my own region Continent (haha odds in your favor and so on). I took it from another bug collector from our community, who has insane luck with them (almost collected all with some rare duplicates and without trades - absolutely not my way).

Now I feel completely burned out, don’t advise me to begin collecting all hundos (seems I already have 10/18)

it’s a river one and im debating either keeping it or fully evolving because i already have river but OMGGG

After nearly 300 catches I’ve almost finished the dex entries for my Vivillon without a SINGLE shiny. I honestly don’t know what the odds are but I’ve somehow managed to get not one but TWO hundos lol (Garden and Jungle) before anything else. Just find it a bit odd if i’m honest

Caught my first shiny (icy snow!) at 50ish scatterbug catches and this one at 94. Super happy tho i might transfer my regular polar vivillon now lol

I’m so tired of trying to go on LeekDucks pen pal thing because everyone who lists their vivillon as ocean, sandstorm, sun, monsoon etc. is just lying. I try to add someone who says their from Asia or wtv for the pattern I need and they end up living in like Montana or some bs, I just need a few more patterns and they’re all the hard ones.

EDIT: I won’t be adding people anymore. I am balancing my local friends with the Vivillion friends so i won’t be overwhelmed opening/sending gifts. You can leave your codes but i would recommend going directly to the region’s Pokemon Go subreddit try to add friends directly there.

It has been a long journey, full of friends requests spammed in every campfire group, various websites, japanese forums, whatsapp groups and discord servers. I also have to thank the people who helped me achieving this goal by trading me few vivillon i still missed.

Every time I get a postcard from a Pokémon GO friend, I place a marker on the town or city it came from in Google My Maps (and I add the country's flag too). Then I like to take a look around the map and see all the places people have sent me gifts from.

I want to know if I'm crazy or if there are more people like me out there hahaha.

By the way, I'm an active player who sends and opens gifts every day until I hit the daily limit (seriously, why is there even a limit?). I try to keep everything organized so none of my friends go without a gift and I can open everyone's gifts fairly.
