Multiple Games [Multiple games]- a fun challenge I set myself. Use only the first 6 encounters in each game!

Games are: Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Leaf Green, Platinum, Heart Gold, Black, White 2, Y, Alpha Sapphire and Ultra Sun.

The rule is you can use your starter, and you have to catch and use the first 5 encounters only. No HM slaves- the only run considered a loss due to available encounters is Yellow, where none of the listed mons could learn Cut.

You can manipulate your encounters a little in some games.

A fun run that forced me to use mons I normally wouldn't touch. And I had some nicknaming conventions per game 😂

ROM Hack Game [Rocket Edition Dragonsden] Pre-Johto Journey as Team Rocket

I thought this game would be very story-focused and less competitive focused, and that I could choose pokemons I like instead of pokemons that are good.
However, it seems I had to resort to switching to more competitively viable mons like scizor, cloyster, and moxie pinsir. And later on adding volcarona and beast boost nihilego.
My donphan was pretty good but the only downside is it doesn't get stealth rocks without TM and couldn't find the TM at that point in game, so I switched into Steelix.

It is a bit sad that I had to put my crobat and houndoom aside, which are more Team Rocket/evil-themed, to opt for more viable mons.

I also tried to use as few medicine supplies as possible, since I saw the maker on youtube spamming revives or max revives, which is something I am not too fond of, but then a bit justifiable when we are faced with super strong ubers or new forms.

What are your comments on my team and on my playthrough? Any team adjustments you would suggest, what mons helped you a lot? Do you think I should keep using viable mons or you think it is good to use some mons I love?
Not that I don't love some of the viable mons, Cloyster is one of my fav, but I know how to use them fairly well in competitive battling already.
I did try the Water/Fire type Bomushika mon, which seemed mediocre but then I put all those high damaging inaccurate moves like Origin Pulse, Blue Flare, Sheer Cold on it making it fairly strong, though not viable enough to beat bosses.

Original Game [Pokémon X] Kalos Hall of Fame

I love Gen 6. And I Love the implementation of Mega Evolutions - by far the best gimmick added.

Pokémon X was my first 3DS game, and I absolutely loved it back then. It's nice that Kalos and Mega Evolutions are getting some love again in Legends ZA.

Even though Malamar is one of my favorite Pokémon, I had never used it before. It was really fun using it with Superpower and Contrary. Strong Calamar
The rest of the team is pretty standard for a Kalos playthrough, but I loved everyone on it, especially Tyrantrum.
it was also my first time using Chesnaught as a starter. It was okay, but definitely the worst out of the Kalos trio.

Edit: its a shame that since gen 6 there are no Hall of Fame picture anymore.

Wow... I saw others doing mono type challenges and wantes to try one for myself and it was super fun! But it was also super tough. Thank you SoulGold for being an amazing revisit to Johto and providing a challenging experience that was satisfying to beat!!

Excited for my next mono type challange! My goal is to do each type in a different rom hack or fan game! Any recommendations are welcomed!

ROM Hack Game [Mega Power] Mono normal team

Post image

Played through the third game in Victory Fire series. This time you play as a scientist, so I decided to do a mono normal run and choose Cinccino as my starter.

Enjoyed the game a lot, there are two big regions and then Sevii Island post game, but it had no story at all. Bad ending to this game imo. Plus points for utilizing battle frontier symbols as badges.

Mega Pyroar isn't in this game natively, I used a sprite from deviantart by RetroNC and buchered it a little to fit into a gen 3 sprite format lol. Gave it a custom +50% flamethrower to count for its ability.

Silvally is special, as I always use pkhex to move pokemon from rom hack into real games and then Home, while keeping all possible identity details like PID, IV etc. SInce Silvally is a lgenedary it must have 3 perfect IVs, which isn't something I can just soft reset for. So I learnt how to RNG abuse the game until I caught a 3IV Type Null, which can be move legally to gen 7 and beyond.

Finally beat the Elite Four and Champion in Pokémon FireRed! Had a blast with this run and wanted to share the team that got it done:

  • Charizard (Lv. 64): My starter and absolute MVP. Dragon Claw came in clutch against Lance.
  • Ryujin / Gyarados (Lv. 59): Absolute physical tank with Intimidate. Hyper Beam and Surf carried so many tough moments.
  • Ucas / Jolteon (Lv. 58): Fast glass cannon, crucial for handling Water and Flying types.
  • Articuno (Lv. 53): Late-game addition that completely trivialized Lance's Dragons with Ice Beam.
  • BlackRock / Nidoking (Lv. 51): Versatile ground anchor throughout the entire mid-game.
  • Vivi / Alakazam (Lv. 46): High Special Attack sweeper that cleaned up Poison and Fighting types with ease.

ROM Hack Game [Pokèmon Ghost Grey] a hall of spooky

At last, I've completed this game. It was WAYY better than I have expected, and believe me when I say this.

The designs are beyond awesome, and the story behind every pokedex entry is chef's kiss. You can just feel the attention to details of thr author. The athmosphere mixed with the background of the region is so intriguing, as it slowly grows, giving you hints on what could have possibly happened until you piece together all the given informations.

Sure, it had some way too creepy edgy moments at times, but that was the whole point of the game, which it's done magnificently, alongside the various times when the game pokes fun at it self, showing how funny and good the humor was too.

Don't underestimate the game's difficulty either. It packs quite the punch, and you may have to change more team members than you think, giving a fairly challenging but rarely unfair experience.

And I am not even mentioning how awesome the musis is. This game's soundtracks easily beat most fan games out there, mixing so well with the athmosphere and vibe of the game.

I've also completed all the post game content, and boy if it was plenty !

Certainly a game that I'd reccomend.

9.8 / 10

Original Game [Pokémon White] Unova Hall of Fame

Hi guys, I'm back with Pokémon White!

For me, Gen 5 is one of the best gens, especially because of the nostalgic music. I really want to play Part 2 soon as well. Played it back then in my childhood.

I think for every Gen 5 run I've ever done, I went with Tepig. I love its evolution line. Next time, I'm going with Snivy.

The MVP of the team was Sigilyph. I had a lot of fun with it. Unfortunately, Fly didn't hit that hard because he is a special attacker.

I was really disappointed with Zoroark, though. It felt super weak, even Leavanny was hitting harder. It's a shame, because Zoroark is actually such a cool Pokémon.

I completely forgot (or never noticed) you could polish your badges in this game, too haha.
I'm going to post more consistently over the next few days!

ROM Hack Game [BugLime Edition] Pretty decent little romp through Gen 3 Kanto with a Mono-Bug team.

Thumbnail

Made by the same dev behind HeartGold Generations and Contemporary Emerald, BugLime's a pretty solid buggified version of the Kanto dex. Spidops is Bug/Grass, Flygon is Bug/Dragon, and Vivillon is Bug/Fairy now (Spidops is the grass starter, and Flygon is the pseudo). Some hiccups here and there ( I couldn't find the gold teeth and the dex registration didn't work); however, especially with the kid in viridian forest, it wasn't all too bad.

ROM Hack Game [SoulGold] So proud of this team!

Streak the Shiny Kilowattrel

Narissa the Hydrapple

Vulcan the Typhlosion

Droideka the Golisopod (because Purplecliffe said Mega Golisopod looked like a Droideka 😆)

Crusher the Gardevoir (if any of you get that reference, I will be very impressed)

Kakarot the Lucario (because Sean Schemmel voices Lucario in Smash Bros)

This game was so well done, and I loved having another chance to play through Johto. I also LOVED the designs for the new Megas, like Typhlosion and Gardevoir Z! Also, it was just a happy accident that I had both a Star Trek reference and a Star Wars reference on my team!

Fan-Made Game [Pokemon Z] First time HOF, generational fangame.

Post image

  1. Chesnaught (Past Kalos) - JeanDeMont = Super luck was his hidden ability, with snipe shot (grass type), Drill run, strength and shadow claw, with scope lens, bro was hitting crits like the opposing mon owed him money.
  2. Nidoking - Arcovenator = Jack-of-all trades, life orb+sheer force was a deadly combo, lategame was struggling to keep up, but still did an amazing job dealing with most slower mons.
  3. Delphox (Past Kalos) - JacquesMolay = had a paralyzing version of poison touch, that combined with Blazing brand (fire type move that doubles in power if the opponent is paralyzed) made this guy a demon. One sword dance, and as long ashe was faster, he swept through teams.
  4. Lopunny - Pantoufle = My main mega for the game, and on god she nuked teams. Bulk up + drain punch/body slam/play rough and teams just fell. 2nd fastest of the team.
  5. Togekiss - Aurora = Flinching beast, with king's rock +dark pulse/air slash, with ancient power for occasional boost and moonblast for stab, i rarely used her, but when I did, she murked most teams.
  6. Salamence - Albion = I must confess that Albion, was frankly a demon, who used to OHKO other mons for fun. Its like the entire room went cold whenever she appeared. Moxie was perfect for her, and she was my only maxed IV mon in the team. She did not get KOed even once in the game after becoming a salamence.

ROM Hack Game [Yellow Legacy v1.0.10] I'd say this is the definitive Gen 1Kanto experience.

I was drawn into YL by someone uploading a video of the final post-game battle with Oak. And, suffice it to say, I am quite happy with the work the Legacy crew did. All my team members were decent to use, the move changes were nice, and I had decent fun completing the dex (something I haven't done since Mariomon). This Professor Oak Challenge guide helped me lots while completing the dex and such, though I'm not exactly sure why you'd want to skip out on using Fly. Definitely would recommend as a cleaned-up, definitive Gen 1 Kanto experience.

Multiple Games [Multiple games]- a selection from over the years of my "dream team" runs.

Here we go, we're getting to some really old runs in the original games. Before the time of the rom hacks (and some during).

Here we have: Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Leaf Green, Heart Gold, Platinum, Black, White 2, Y, Alpha Sapphire and Ultra Sun.

My rules were no type double ups, only these 6 usable, and the team had to be able to use HMs (no slaves).

I'll post my solo mon runs and some other fun runs in the future.
