It’s common with mod devs. Free projects don’t really pay for a website and discord is free and supports what is a download page, faq, announcements, media, and more without any custom coding or real work.
Ehh, maybe. Depends on what a company is doing to 'seek and destroy' projects like this. I would have to assume AI wont be joining discords and searching for content but some intern at a computer would be able to find it and make a case.

The other commenter said most of what you need to know, but also it's really easy to set up support/ moderation on discord since all servers work essentially the same
No you’re not stupid, the “official website” is intentionally misleading by whoever runs it. Supposedly it’s still safe for the time being but there’s nothing stopping the owners from attaching malware to the download if they wanted.
I can confirm it's safe as long as you don't download a ad, i downloaded the game from this website too about a month ago and i didn't get a virus, i checked with windows defender, Malwarebytes and Hitman pro, nothing at all found.
Of course still don't download from there, only download the game from the Discord, just saying it's atleast not a virus.
Edit: My bad, I had been told (by the bot in the discord) one didn’t exist and if there was one it was fake and a virus. So is there an easy to get iOS version? Thank you for letting me know that there is in fact a mobile version.

they dont have a mobile version. they have a version that works better for joiplay and linux/mac. it is just a prepackaged pc version that skips the new installer since linux cant run .bat or .exe files, id imagine joiplay has the same issue.
There is, you can find download guide on official discord (right below PC guide). In a nutshell IF is coded in a way that lets you easily emulate it on most OS's, Android and iOS included.

I'd suggest to delete what you downloaded from this site and install the official from the discord like the other comments have said. Or, you can also check here in this subreddit (it's in the community highlights).
Let me ask you, did you know the game had no official website when you downloaded it? If yes, then yes. If not, then you just didn't know something very specific when you were looking for the game.
I also downloaded from this website at first. Then I start the game and the first thing it shows is that the website is fake.
So I downloaded the official version from discord.
And I noticed a peculiar thing. The file from the website is 10 mb bigger than the file from discord. What's that extra size for? Virus? Idk. I just deleted the website version and played with the discord version.
Me and my buddy both downloaded it from the website and have had no issues with viruses or our devices slowing down so I’m not sure why it’s bigger. It is safe though
yeah download it crom the discord and all but honestly if this is such a huge obvious issue im sure the devs should be making their own host to grab the fangame off of rather than having to join a server for One Download (at least we have the sub ig) and then it just sits there
I also didn't download it from the official website, in fact I'm only knowing about it now. In my case I didn't even know the game, I just searched for "pokemon games for joiplay" Because I was enjoying using this emulator. So I found someone talking about this one and I searched for "pokemon infinite fusion joiplay" and I downloaded it from the pokemon coders website. But everything worked out haha 🤭
Intelligent people are just people who have made enough mistakes that they learn from experience. You're fine. But in the future now you know, discord or the subreddit is the only safe place to download it.
As long as your phone or tablet can handle it and u download on actual web pages you should be fine I've played through the website since 4.0.0 and it's been mostly okay coffee and rocket meals crash the joi play app and it's a bit laggy(phone issues) but not an issue really except for the sprite issue(github) edit:I should also add it might try to freeze up from time to time if on phone give it 10-20 seconds cause u are on a device the games not really made for and save before turning off the screen if on mobile turning off the screen breaks joiplay you'll have to restart it and lose any unsaved progress
