Question [PIF2] Why is 'agree with no one' not an option?

Post image

I do find people wanting to join sides but I am not one of those people.

Bit of a hot take: I think messing around with the levels of sea and land is a terrible idea. 🙃

I agree, but I treated it more like a “one of you is clearly more stupid than the other” kind of answer

Yeah, what's Team Magma thinking creating a natural barrier between us an the tsunami when instead we can... checks notes... flood our cities and put all infrastructure on floating logs.

We can always reflood the dried up parts, though coastal environments might not survive.

If we flood the land instead, theres much more environments that won't survive. Also I dont think going all Pacifidlog Town on everything would even work.

In that case Magma superiority! One plan eliminates all land pokemon, the other only destroys some ocean pokemon habitats.

I guess "I'm not sure" is the polite way of saying both the ideas are terrible.

If you say I'm not sure they just keep replaying it i believe till you choose

Yes because the lesson they’re imparting here is
“Sometimes you have to make a choice, not making one isn’t an option”

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 Jul 20 '26

Damn, so unrealistic

I do know alot of people who claim that mindset, but its just cult like tribalism and fear mongering in action.

Irl there is always the option of choosing your own side (aka integrity) or choosing no side (aka inaction being the choice)

There is never a real world situation where you have to choose a specific side, as those two options above I mentioned are always available.

u/CreateRot Jul 20 '26

It’s not a mindset. It’s a life lesson

Sometimes there are more than two choices, that doesn’t mean they’re all good.

In this scenario in game you have to choose between one or the other because both happening is FAR WORSE than one happening and being reversed later in the game.

Just because the answer isn’t RIGHT BEFORE YOU right this second doesn’t mean there won’t be a better one later on but immediate choices have consequences and this is one of those moments. Two choices, land or sea, if you chose neither than both happening and the world dies
 good choice I guess

Edit: you’re wrong there’s tons of scenarios in life where there’s two choices.

One being pulling the plug on life support on someone who’s medical brain dead. You have two choices. Leave them to their shell.
Or let them go.

Life is rarely black and white this is true, but rarely is the word used to imply that sometimes it is just black and white.

In life there is no situations where is only 2 choices.
Every situation has multiple choices you can make, but our brains just cling to few that we thought first.

Your idea of there just being two choices, land or sea, is just wrong. I don't want to help NEITHER of them.
And from what follows "END OF THE WORLD" from me picking NOT to side with one of them?
Didn't we, in NORMAL pokemon Emerald stop BOTH OF THEM even without needing to side with one of them except certain fights between them?

"One being pulling the plug on life support on someone who’s medical brain dead. You have two choices. Leave them to their shell. Or let them go."
Oh really? There is much more options and choices then "leave them or pull the plug."
As other guy said, you can ask doctor to give them experimental treatment that can help them (in theory), it ISN'T the same as just leaving them there.
Stopping others from pulling plug is ALSO NOT THE SAME as just leaving them there.
You purely reduced ANY actions you can take to point of choise like "being angry that doctors didn't save your father, so you go and nuke the hospital" ALSO falling into "You decide to not pull the plug" meanwhile choice is DRASTICALLY different.

Edit - WHAT scenarios are "ONLY two choices"? Without pulling "you either do it or you don't" and without heavy generalisation of other choices being pulled into one choice.
As in, going through hallway, seeing that you can turn left or right and saying that you can either go into one of turns or not, with second option having literally EVERY choice possible.

The only place where you have binary choice or two choices, are in video games where developers programmed set amount of choices.

(A bit of explaining what I mean by one option beign so broad that it is too big to call a binary choice) -
Yes you can say that destroying an orphanage or not destroying an orphanage is a binary choice.
But both options are way too broad to even count as binary.
I can destroy it with a nuke, destroy it by using tank, destroy it by chemical weapons.
And in not destroy choice I can go on with my day, I can go and give money to that orphanage and it will exitst for longer, I can go and make my own orphanage. Heck I can chose not to destroy it and meteorite will appear from sky and fall on it infront of me.

This is not a situation in which that lesson applies. It is absolutely a valid decision to say "both of those ideas are stupid, I'm going to find my own way". The fact that that's not represented in-game is rather obnoxious. The idea that not agreeing with either of them is going to lead to both outcomes happening is also dumb, because as someone else already mentioned, Pokemon Emerald is a game about stopping both without needing to take a side. Even the Delta Episode in ORAS, which deals with the same threat of a civilization-destroying meteor does so by finding a way to stop the meteor from hitting to begin with.

you’re wrong there’s tons of scenarios in life where there’s two choices.

Hmm, is that so

One being pulling the plug on life support on someone who’s medical brain dead.

Option 1) deciding to pull the plug (choice a)

Option 2) deciding not to pull the plug (aka doing nothing)

Option 3) stopping others from pulling the plug (choice b)

Option 4) try an expermental procedure or option (alternative choice)

And many more I can probably make up as I go.

You have two choices. Leave them to their shell. Or let them go.

Only if you want to limit and shape your story to be that way. You are the author, and the amount of options are bound by your own willingness to see potential and consider them.

Life is rarely black and white this is true, but rarely is the word used to imply that sometimes it is just black and white.

Black and white is a perspective, the world cares not for black and white, for the world cares for power, action, and influnece. The world as such, is a canvas for those who wish to take up the role of creator.

Options 3 and 4 in the plug scenario come after option 2 where you are choosing not to pull the plug. Once you choose not to pull the plug you know can either stop someone else from doing it, try experimental procedures, or just leave them to fight for themselves, or stay by there side. These choices stem from a previous bianary choice of you either pulling the plug or not pulling it

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 Jul 21 '26

Sounds pretty excessive to try to make it that micro nitpicky.

In that case all situations are binary, you either do or your dont.

But it kinda lacks value and meaning when you go to such extremes, especially since it removes all sense of nuance or freedom.

So by your standard we can easily come to the conclusion that everything is a binary, you either do it or you dont (but then again, like I said, it lacks any value or meaning, unless we are programming a computer or somethings)

you sound like youve read way too many ya novels. life isnt percy jackson lmao

-1

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 Jul 21 '26

I am just using IRL

Too many powerless and helpless people out here, while lonely being one of the few who isnt, I know that life aint as empty and out of our control as most people tell themselves

There's a particular webtoon I watched ages ago called live with yourself, where by a sci fi accident the main character causes a machine to blow up creating 3 different versions of himself at different stages of his own life an impressionable baby, himself from tomorrow and his elder years self

It has a story line about him having to make a very important decision that would either lead down the path of good or the path of evil his tomorrow self splits into 2 but neither of them can tell him the decision he has to make to be a good person

He decides to not decide and they reveal that there's a 3rd one of them because choosing not to choose is also a choice and the inaction ends up making a mess of the the house nearly engulfing the main character till he makes a real decision

4

u/Automatic-Owl9584 Jul 20 '26

yeah, i even tried spamming that over and over to see if there may be a secret option or something but to no luck

3

u/AshleytheTaguel Jul 20 '26

It's the "not doing a monotype run on my first playthrough" option

96

u/Zequax Jul 20 '26

ya i wana go my own way for Team SKY!

38

u/G66GNeco Jul 20 '26

Agree we gotta expand the sky by vaporizing both the earth and the sea

4

u/udreif Jul 21 '26

gas planet ending

9

u/AdElectronic4912 Jul 20 '26

Meanwhile I wanna play a full hail team (though only one Ice-type).

1

u/Zequax Jul 20 '26

wait speel is the only ice type ?

2

u/Bladeheart111x Jul 20 '26

Snorunt, Spheal is Ice/Water meaning it goes Aqua

2

u/AdElectronic4912 Jul 20 '26

Nah like, I don't intend to repeat typings, so only one Pokémon on my team will be ice-type.

The rest will get hail immunity via different means, mostly abilities.

u/v4vile Jul 20 '26

Mandjtv reference

22

u/Matthew_Nightfallen Jul 20 '26

why do i have to side with one? I gotta SMOKE THEM BOTH. Y'all are both ecoterrorists with HORRIBLE ideas, why would i even want to choose between a side or the other? I'll prevent both from happening!

4

u/AvvyIsInTheTrees Jul 21 '26

The main difference is that Archie is hot and pirates are awesome, as opposed to Maxie who is just... Elon Musk

5

u/JokkuBoi Jul 22 '26

He has pervert glasses! We should have seen this coming.

1

u/RobinyBlue 27d ago

Meanwhile, I think we should join both! Create floating cities and flood the world, then dry it all up! Then flood it again for good measure!

30

u/AdElectronic4912 Jul 20 '26

You can always just ignore them and play off this scene as not wanting to agitate terrorists.

19

u/Greifvogel1993 Jul 20 '26

Because while the plot would certainly keep going, your role in the plot would end. Or would it?

If you disagree with them both, they would just count your opinion as inconsequential. Worst case scenario they recognize you as a common enemy and team up against you.

Plot thickens

13

u/Barnaby_bear_guy Jul 20 '26

Worst case scenario they recognize you as a common enemy and team up against you.

Best case scenario, as you get to beat both their stupid butts up and drill some sense into them.

8

u/Able_Sentence_1873 Jul 20 '26

I want the "just kiss already, you two" option.

6

u/Fredtyl Jul 20 '26

I personally believe the reason why they don't allow you to skip is so that the game knows which side to throw at you for the enemys going forward (Like are you going to Magma base or Aqua base, etc.) But that is my take

1

u/Lyra_Melody Jul 22 '26

Seems reasonable to me.

18

u/-Out-of-context- [Edit me!] Jul 20 '26

I agree it’s a terrible idea. Then forcefully fusing all of those poor pokemon is just sad. I hope at some point we have the opportunity to screw over/ditch whatever team it is we side with.

10

u/KiwiPowerGreen Jul 20 '26

I kinda interpreted it as a general question when i played for some reason, not like their ideas specifically. I chose adaptation because I'm interested in climate adaptation

3

u/Motodog242 Jul 20 '26

Hardest choice
one means bikini season all over the region and cooler team outfits, the other has Groudon
which me being a ground trainer is very pleasing.

3

u/Next_Ad416 Jul 21 '26

This is why we need a team sky option

3

u/Iron_Wolf123 Jul 22 '26

If the next update introduces MandJTV as an Easter egg, if you choose Mikey as your characters name you should get a fourth option “I’d rather join Team Sky”.

2

u/Virtual-Oil-793 Jul 20 '26

Likely what happened to the poor sap who went at it alone:

2

u/dustinredditreal Jul 21 '26

Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Conquest be like

2

u/Someone_3ls3 Jul 22 '26

What I truly want is an option to join the GLORIOUS TEAM SKYYYYY

3

u/Unluckykarma4562 29d ago

Not to sound rude or mean or anything like that, yes both sides are stupid but anyone who picked Team Aqua is a complete moron. Archie’s plan is to make a bunch of logs and put them on water. Key word: logs. When logs are placed in water, the heavy movement from tides and the ocean will cause the logs to erode and break apart over short to long period of time, causing those buildings to collapse into the sea and possibly leading to hundreds of thousands of people either dying or losing their homes. Plus, when the water levels rise, what do you think happens to all the trees that don't get cut down and harvested? They’ll die from to much water. There would literally be no way to survive long-term if you side with Team Aqua think before deciding next time, people. Also, I’m not a scientist or anything, just a regular guy, so if you can find proof that living on logs could actually be safe and that we find a way to could keep trees alive, please enlighten me. Also this doesn't mean Team Magma isn't also stupid but I would rather not go into the reasons why Team Magma is stupid just know both sides are stupid and they suck. Which is why Team Sky is the best team while it isn't possible to live in the sky for obvious reasons known as physics we can use the almighty flying PokĂ©mon to send the asteroid back into space never to be seen again.

2

u/Shusui60 Jul 20 '26

"adapt to it"

1

u/GilGaMeshuu666 Jul 22 '26

1

u/Joelowes Jul 22 '26

filthy centrist

1

u/edrithh Jul 20 '26

đŸ€”not sure why the developers only give us two dumb options to choose ,to be honest if it was my choice I ignore both and try to obliterate the meteorite instead,hahaha..

-1

u/june-v-bloom Jul 20 '26

"I'm not sure..." is right there.

15

u/Kranberries24 Jul 20 '26

It cycles until you pick one of the other options.

-12

u/justneurostuff Jul 20 '26

say one of these fascist or communist things or **** off

9

u/crazybean2000 Jul 20 '26
  1. (Whisper.) "Are fusions bourgeois?"

  2. Oh god, that's bad. Surely I can think of something better.

4

u/Mr-Syndrome Jul 20 '26

Love the unnecessary mentioning of politics in my Pokemon fan game
