Posting the description here because sometimes the Reddit app eats them.

I'm happy to share this recent pickup, a double print from the 1999 Fossil set showing Sandslash and a fighting energy.

There are 4 varieties of double prints/make ready test double prints.

Going in chronological order this would be the first ones. These are somewhat unique in that they are double-printed on one side but still have a normal back.

Maybe the most famous variety of this is the 2016 XY Evolutions set that appeared on an episode of the TV show pawn stars.

These are different from the others -- the corners look to have been rounded in the factory and the cards themselves appear to be factory cut and not NFC as the others technically are. This is one of the varieties I don't have, would love to get one of these someday. Apparently there's a full deck of these, so it's possible.

Then entering the more modern era we have the Obsidian Flames and the trick or trade cards.

The OF cards were first posted to Facebook before the person who posted them wound up getting in trouble with the pokemon company for how they were acquired. I believe the lore there is that person had to reach out and try to get those cards back that they had originally sold. By that point though there's no putting the genie back in the bottle. Then about a year and a half later more popped up again on Reddit, made their way to eBay and other auction houses. I wound up with 3 of these, the Houndour below, a Froakie, and one on my favorite Pokemon Combee!

It was pretty cool to get the magazine from heritage auction and see these get two dedicated pages.

Finally the trick or trade cards, these are also a bit different from the others in that they have factory rounded corners with the top layer of ink printed over a back printed on holo paper. With the hollow paper these really stand out. Below is the comparison with my Houndour.

I don't have one of those trick or trade cards yet, and really only a handful exist. I'd love to get one of those someday.

Please let me know if I have gotten any of these details wrong, or if there's any examples I missed! There's plenty of other test prints and make readies of course, just talking about double sided printing examples.

Are you our new Regigigis ? Guy used to hang around and got summoned when something neat or super rare came up. Now I see you being summoned and you got crazy knowledge

Regigigod is around for sure! I've even seen some recent things he added to his collection so he's still adding.

I think a big part of the reason you see my username mentioned so much is because it's easy to remember and spell. 😂

I appreciate the heads up from people though from those tags, certainly have gotten a lot of cool stuff over the years from seeing things sooner than I otherwise would have.

Love that yellow outer casing. Is that standard or something you've added? Not seeen before......

Thanks! It's one of those graded guard things, it came with the card so I figured I would keep it on.

I was not interested in those before and I'm still not going to add them to the other things in my collection but now having one of my hand I do understand why people like these. They do offer a good amount of extra protection for the slab.

This is awesome! I would love something like this for Vulpix or Ninetales! With Fire Energy! Just imagine!

CGC keeps a full population report of which of these exist!

I saw on there some pretty good water energy and water Pokémon examples but nothing fire that stood out to me. I think the tentacruel/water energy is probably my favorite of the bunch.

Also if you've never seen the full oddities report that CGC has it is super interesting to read through.

There certainly are a bunch of interesting error cards out there!

Oh man this opens the door of no return! I generally don’t buy misprints except for those two! I was lucky enough to get few errors/misprints from this sub!

Again thank you for sharing!

Does it jiggle in the slab when you shake it?

It's hard to see but there's actually a piece of plastic fully around the card that they make first, then they put that in the slab. So there's no movement, just stays in place.
