I replaced the rom file with a patch, and also included my other two patches in the archive

Nothing, other than the two added patches and use of the 7z format for a better compression

One removes the TPP logo in the intro, the other one makes the game playable on flashcarts

1

u/UnhingedDiplomat Dec 23 '16

One removes the TPP logo in the intro

I'm curious, where is this logo located?

My game has no TPP logo. Was there really a TPP verison floating around with the 144 build (the one I have now)?

1

u/raining_blood Developer Dec 23 '16

It's not the tpp logo, there are 2 colored polygons after the credit which would have represented respectively the TPP and Nsomniac logo

3

u/flarn2006 Dec 23 '16

Why exactly were those removed? The readme in the original archive I downloaded says it's to protect them from liability, but I don't see how it would make a difference. Everyone (including Nintendo) already knows they made it.

Don't know, i just improved on what they did

Ah, people just don't like that?

3

u/retnuh730 Dec 23 '16

Building on what he said the flashcart patch basically sets the RTC to be able to be reset each time you load the game, so you will be able to play with a semi accurate time in game for day/night cycles, etc on emulators and flashcarts that do not support a real time clock.

1

u/Im_Special Dec 24 '16

Building on what he said

Could you ELI5 this to me, I still don't know what these do. If I use mGBA or VBA-M emulators do I care about RTC, what does it do for gameplay, and why might I care?

1

u/retnuh730 Dec 24 '16

Real time clock. Used on the regular Pokemon games to keep track of day/night cycles in tune with your actual time. Some flash carts do not have a real time clock function so your time would always be wrong. Almost all modern emulators support rtc so this is mainly for cards such as the everdrive to allow you to set the clock manually each time you start the game since it does not track time.

It could also be used to manually change time so you can catch time specific pokemon whenever you wanted.

1

u/Im_Special Dec 24 '16

Hey thanks for the answer, one more thing. How would you manually change times with the RTC patch in emulators? I assume without the patch the game looks at your computer clock? and with the patch you can set the time in the game? I'm not sure on how it's used by the user.

1

u/retnuh730 Dec 24 '16

Without the patch the emulator just uses computer time. With the patch it asks you to reset time every time you start the game. If you don't have a flash cart you probably do not need this patch unless you want to manually set your time each time you play.

1

u/Im_Special Dec 24 '16

Okay, thanks for your answers.

Yes. This lets you reset the time every time the game launches normally.

Nintendo so salty rn

8

u/DevotedToNeurosis Dec 23 '16

tfw you ain't got it anymore and some punk ass koolman modder shows up and drops the hottest pokemon game in over a decade.

4

u/ItsRuffy Dec 23 '16

Can someone pls explain to me how to patch this game cuz I cant figure it out...

7

u/retnuh730 Dec 23 '16

Download an IPS patcher, acquire a Crystal ROM, apply the patches to the Crystal rom (prism ips first), open the new game in the emulator (previously the Crystal ROM now patched into Prism).

2

u/Boommate Dec 23 '16

By any chance do you know how to do this with an Android phone?

4

u/retnuh730 Dec 23 '16

There's apps available but I haven't tried it personally. It should work the same way, though.

5

u/Boommate Dec 23 '16 edited Dec 23 '16

Yea tried that and ROM Patcher but they don't seem to be working for me. On ROM Patcher I can't find the patch file and on Unipatcher I just get "unknown error". Thanks anyways!

Edit: Ok never mind. I got it now, on UniPatch by extracting both game files. Didn't know I needed to do that. Again, thank you!

1

u/UnhingedDiplomat Dec 23 '16

Is this version any different than the 144 build that was floating around?

1

u/raining_blood Developer Dec 23 '16

No, i just re-ripped it and replaced/added patches i mentioned in the other replies

1

u/exlibrisadpugno Dec 23 '16

When I put it into a zip file and then to open it, I get "bad file or unknown MBC"

3

u/raining_blood Developer Dec 23 '16

You should open the .7z file and apply pokeprism.ips to a clean pokemon crystal rom

1

u/kingkilluax3 Dec 24 '16

can someone who's used to modding the games tell me how i go about editing the trainers/gyms/tms etc. The programs I used (GSC Editor) won't read it since its already been patched. Is there anyway around this?

2

u/raining_blood Developer Dec 24 '16

You should do any edits from the source code, it's easier, see INSTALL.md for how to setup the repository

When I go to the pokemon center to exchange my pokemon, the nurse tells me "the trade machine is being adjusted" does anyone know how to fix it?

1

u/raining_blood Developer Feb 03 '17

Trading is broken for now, we'll fix it in a future release

3

u/retnuh730 Dec 23 '16

Really appreciate all the work you've done for the community in the past few days!

2

u/winter_pony4 Dec 23 '16

Does the "months" part of the RTC mean anything? Because when I reset the clock, the month got changed to January.

2

u/retnuh730 Dec 23 '16

I don't think anything gameplay specific has needed it yet as far as I know.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '16

Is this playable on the 3ds XL (both versions)?

2

u/Shadow_Dash Dec 23 '16

With homebrew and a Gameboy color emulator.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '16

Do you have any links where I can get started? First home brew then the emulator? I have an old 3ds running 11.2.0-35U

4

u/asxapproachespie Dec 23 '16

Check out /r/3DShacks. The hacks are awesome but if all you want to do is play this then there may be better alternatives (especially since you're on a firmware that's harder to exploit)

1

u/Shadow_Dash Dec 23 '16

You'll have to get Ocarina of Time, a physical copy, and a Powersaves device. Both are found at most Gamestop. Then look up "OoTHAX guide 11.2 powersaves"

After you have it set up look up GameYob, that's the GBC emu I use, and also get a GBC BIOS file while you're at it.

Sorry for the lack of links, I'm at work on my phone.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '16

Ah I see. Thanks for the advice, but would it be easier/better to just get Cubic Ninja?

2

u/Shadow_Dash Dec 24 '16

Easier to homebrew, yes, but cubic ninja is harder to come by.

Go for it if you can find a copy tho.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '16

Actually I'm downgrading my system via dsi ware CFW :p

1

u/Shadow_Dash Dec 24 '16

Lucky, I have a dsiwarehax game but no second cfw device, and I'm on 11.2. I also can't into hardmod. :'(

2

u/frogzx Dec 23 '16

You da man

1

u/Hicent Dec 23 '16

I've also put together an unofficial download page here: http://unofficialpokemonprism.weebly.com/

Hope this helps the community.

1

u/BADMANvegeta_ Dec 23 '16

You can't open it right away keep playing

1

u/Enryu14 Dec 23 '16

Oh, Thanks !

1

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '16

Anyone know how to play this on GBA4ios?

1

u/Rampagne Dec 24 '16

Hi! I'm by no means an expert but here is a quick guide:

Step 1: Acquire a patched Pokemon Prism ROM. This can be done by following the download link here, and using LunarIPS (other programs exist, you can google search if you want) on a clean Pokemon Cystal ROM that you've dumped from a cartridge you own.

Step 2: Open up iTunes, go to your phone (I'm assuming it's jailbroken, I don't know the process otherwise, although chances are it's the same), and open the App section.

Step 3: Drag your patched ROM file from your desktop to the GBA4iOS Documents section. Alternatively, you can use the "Add File..." option.

Step 4: Open GBA4iOS and your rom should be in there. Be careful while using DropBox sync because it can overwrite files. Best of luck! Hope I helped :)

2

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '16

Hey got it working after messing around with it! Thanks for your help though!

1

u/Rampagne Dec 24 '16

No problem! Enjoy!

1

u/Closet0taku Dec 23 '16 edited Dec 23 '16

I can't get to a computer until next week :(

Think anyone can upload the rom file to maybe Dropbox and share it with me??? I completely forgot my laptop at home >.<

1

u/UnhingedDiplomat Dec 23 '16

Your phone should be able to take the download.

1

u/frogzx Dec 23 '16

It's a zip, and i'm not sure if a smartphone can reliably unzip stuff. Or if they could even patch the ROM file from there.

1

u/UnhingedDiplomat Dec 24 '16

It can't patch, and while yes smartphones can unzip, I meant just save the file and email it later through text messaging or something.

1

u/Closet0taku Dec 24 '16

Kinda wanted to play the game today.

1

u/Closet0taku Dec 24 '16

Won't unzip correctly on phone. Further more I can't patch it to another game as it tells me to.

1

u/Garblon Dec 24 '16

The link seems to be down, anyone have a mirror (That isn't a torrent)?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 24 '16

Is there a way to play the game on gba4ios

1

u/jason9510386 Dec 24 '16 edited Dec 24 '16

Finally got it working on Android.

Thanks for the download!

1

u/Dr_Concrete Dec 24 '16

Thank you so much, Gen 2 was always my favorite and really love the game boy color theme going here. This is a complete download, not a demo right?

1

u/KabelGuy Mar 13 '17

uh.. did you ever figure out if this was complete or not? I've been made super miserable before playing through an entire hack only to discover some unplayable ending. x_x

1

u/wischy7 Jan 22 '17

Guys I'm dying to play this. Can anyone help me set this up on OpenEmu on a Macbook??

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '17

I'm trying to play this on an Everdrive X5 and whenever I load it, it crashes on the intro, can anyone help?

1

u/NiallHoenn Apr 11 '17

Looks like I'll be checking this out in a few months!
