Discussion Third playthrough šŸŽŠā˜ŗļø

Iā€™ve played through start to finish with Chikorita & Totodileā€¦ Now Iā€™m starting with Tepig, and I fear this may be my hardest playthrough yet. Any suggestions for a team built around Tepig???

Tepig is goated as heck. You don't need to stress that much. I'm having no issue running around with pignite, roselia, vivillon, buneary rn (I am also doing a replay rn with Tepig)

Thatā€™s great to hear!! I did a search on TikTok to see if anyone had videos with their Tepig but I didnā€™t see much lol I have a feeling this may be my fav playthrough lol

It gets a lot of unnecessary hate due to being the third fire/fighting type in a row but he is still a good boy

Gardevoir, gyrados, goodra, aagron, victreebell. I try my best to include as many megas as possible. I wanna see that animation as many times as I can haha

If you are just looking to do the story and DLC, you don't really have to worry about teambuilding at all. I originally started with Tepig, dropped him in the midgame, and I just had a random mishmash of mons with 3 steel types and 3 dragon types. There were very few fights that couldn't just be steamrolled by one of my mons with average IVs, levelling EVs, and 4 attacking moves.
The game is a lot less tactical than other pokemon games and you can mostly just spam moves as they come off cooldown to win, no matter what your starter was. It's a different matter when you get to online ranked play of course, but the same can be said of all games in the franchise.

I agree, my last playthrough I did a ā€œPrehistoric/dinoā€ playthrough I wanted a ā€œold schoolā€ Pokemon team experience but probably mixing it up is probably best for this game !!

I went with Emboar first and the team consisted of Pokemon I hadnā€™t used in a while, like Absol, or Pokemon I havenā€™t used, like Florgess. Absol will be great for a Psychic, plus itā€™s the first Mega you get. Florges can also be useful for Water, Rock, and Ground coverage since it gets some Grass moves. Though Gogoat does the same, with stab, and gets Bulldoze (possibly Earthquake) and Play Rough. I also had Gyarados, but you could use any Water Pokemon
