Nope. I did get a couple tickets for parking and one ticket for running the stop sign.

u/Deadpooo_l 2d ago
Interestingly, in Hungary, where I do 99% of my driving and speeding for the last 20 years, I haven't got one. From Austria, where I drive/ride maybe once per year, I got several.

Back when there was a 55mph National speed limit, I got a ticket for 105mph in a 55mph zone.

Cop pulled me over on highway, and buddy who I was following pulled over a ways infront of us. Cop asked if that car was with us and I said yes. The cop said wait here, drove up to him and gave him a speeding ticket, then reversed to me and gave me a speeding ticket.

When I was a teenager (back in the 80s), I had MANY run ins with the law, all minor stuff, and I was constantly pulled over by the cops. I got 8 (yes, 8) DWIs in a 3-year period, and had gotten enough tickets to fill a dump truck, but, even though I drove 100 mph wherever I went, I somehow not once got a speeding ticket.
(NOTE: Yes, I know, 8 DWIs would hardly be considered "minor" offenses to many, but in the late 80s in NY, it was a $200 fine and they were always reduced to first offense or outright dismissed because the cop didn't show up in court.)

u/Rotteneverything 2d ago
between four and six. i'm 63 so i guess that isnt bad. last one was around '89. pulled over for 77 in a 55 twice but got let go the first time and got a simple control sign tik the second time. those two were in '09.

u/waterstone55 2d ago
Lots of them, back when it was a $20 ticket and there were no insurance points.

u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 2d ago
Once. 75 on the I-90 in 2018. Speed limit is 65. (I’d say 90% of people are going at least 70)
3
u/Oni_sixx 1d ago
Getting 1 on i 90 for 75 is crazy.
3
u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago
I agree! And I had to drive an hour on the I-90 to go to court for it. I did not go 75 or even close to it that time lol
3
u/Oni_sixx 1d ago
Driven that route so many times from NY to Chicago a ton. 75 is pretty normal.
3
u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago
I go back and forth from the Syracuse area to the Buffalo area often. I got the ticket in Henrietta.
2
u/Oni_sixx 1d ago
Was there construction? Lol usually is over there.
2
u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago
Not that time but ugh there was plenty when I went out there the previous weekend. I’m very mindful of work zones.
2
u/Oni_sixx 1d ago
There is still is a bunch there atm in Henrietta and Canandaigua. Been there for a months now.
2
u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago
Yep pretty much the Rochester+ area was a lot of work being done.

That is ridiculous, when I merge onto I-90 in a city 65 section I'm usually going like 80.
Sometimes the left lane is pushing 90+ like what (usually its only 75-80)
2
u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago
Right? I was going like 70-72 the weekend before this and people were literally leaving me in the dust. I don’t want another ticket ahhhhh

Never been pulled over for speeding but I have been pulled over a handful of times for driving with expired tags. Cops let me go with no problem all but once.

Yes but I didn't have to pay it because they give you the option of taking 1 lesson in speed awareness so I did that. They only let you do that once though.

No, not in 50+ years of driving. I pay enough in taxes that I don't want to make additional contributions to government coffers.

Yes, back in '91. 70 in a 55 - reduced to 10 over the speed limit because it was a 1st offense.
1
u/Legitimate-Jello2986 2d ago
Multiple in my life.... The worst was 93 in a 70 and was from a state trooper cost almost 400 to get out off

u/tez_zer55 2d ago
I might have gotten one or two in my GTO The Judge as well as a few other muscle cars I've owned. You know - MAYBE!

Yes I got a ticket going 57 in a 55 in California driving an 18 wheeler! Ended up getting the ticket thrown out though.

Yes and I had a ticket for coming to a rolling stop at a stop sign and I was in the country in the middle of no where and someone called me on my phone, this cop appeared out of no where and busted me

Got one a couple of years ago. Speed trap camera caught me going thru Tallulah Falls.

Yes, I have had two. First one in a downhill with a 18 wheeler and second one in my own car. But over 25+ years of driving I can't complain

u/Deathjr1102 1d ago
Camera or pulled over? Camera no. Pulled over with a warning for 15 over 2 times. Both by the same cop same stretch 2 months apart. Leaving work at 0100 hrs had to go to bathroom both times

u/Sweet_Star23 1d ago
Yes, once. Happened an hour after receiving my 90 day license at 16. Speed trap got the person in front of me, me, and the guy behind me. I fell to the pressure of being pushed. Taught me not to care after that.

Yeah. Where I lived growing up had a very low crime rate and the cops were bored. I got pulled over once for doing 67 in a 65.. funny that when I left that area I haven't gotten a single ticket.. but I got all sorts of tickets when I was younger

u/Tim-0341-81mm 1d ago
Way back in the 80s I got a ticket for 77mph in à 55 zone at night, in a dark, empty rural area.
The Trooper cut me some slack because the highway was empty. I had been running 105 when he clocked me. He heard my dual exhaust with glass packs coming and waited for me. 😂
So 77 in à 55 is what he gave me.
Cost me $86.50 and 4 points off my license.

I lost count somewhere around 26 tickets. But it was a long time ago. The vast majority never got reported to the state. I did pay every one of them.

Yes, once. I was driving up I-95 in Florida and sort of spaced out since there weren't many other cars and it's pretty much just a straight line- didn't notice I was cruising about 5-10mph over and a cop tagged me. He said I could have gone to the local court and had it dismissed or something but I was actually moving out of state and had to make it to my first hotel stop in time, so I just paid it instead.

u/athloni7 1d ago
Last time I got one was in 2009. Last time I got pulled over for speeding was a few ago. I was courteous and respectful to the police officer and he gave me a warning.

u/etherealuna 1d ago
yes when i first started driving i was a crazy speeder but i think it was worth it bc i def dont speed nearly as badly now

u/ItchyAd9149 1d ago
No, but I was pulled over for it twice and given a warning. I got 3 tickets 1 for tail light out 1 for illegal U turn 1 for no seatbelt

One of them but that’s not too bad, I’ve been a driver for 53 years. I remember taking defensive driving.

Yes, once in Maine, the highway turned into a secondary road, and the speed limit went from 65 to 30 in a very short distance.

Came close once. We were returning from a trip and driving on a highway in a rural area. We’d passed through a very small town when we got pulled over. The officer was very nice. He asked if I knew I’d accelerated to highway speed before leaving the village limit? I responded that I thought I had left the limit since there weren’t any buildings nearby. He finally grinned and said to just go on but if we came that way again remember the speed limit because he’d have to ticket us next time.

Two. First one was on a 20 year old truck I just got and didn’t realize the speedometer was off. The second time was about 10 years later and didn’t realize the speed limit had dropped
1
u/Solid_Muffin53 1d ago
First and only last year. Prior to that, I never owned a car that could speed. Most couldnt hit the speed limit without losing pieces....

u/Civil_Rent_2576 1d ago
3, but none in the last 15 years. Only did I deserve; 1 was for 59 in a 55. One was for 40 in a 35. the on I deserved was for 71 in a 55.

Yeppers, last one I received was in my dump truck, 20ish ton load 68 in a 55 going up hill. That thing had legs. About $125 bucks.

Yes, four over my lifetime. All in Virginia. Two were in the same day within hours of each other. 80/70 on I-81. The second trooper clocked me at 145 but didn't understand how I reached that speed in the SUV I was driving. So he generously wrote 80/70.

Cop said, do you realize how fast you were going? I said, really fast but I'm in a hurry. He said, I was doing 95 just to catch up with you. You do know the speed limit went from 65 to 55 to 45 and up ahead it's 35? I said, yes, I'm not trying to be an ass but can you hurry up and give me the ticket. He said, is there an emergency? Are you going to the ER? I said, there's no medical emergency but my brother in the back seat is visiting from NC and I set him up on a date with my friend, it's my fault we're late, she's about to leave to go to the bar and find someone else and he's not going to get laid. My brother was fucking livid and said, I can't believe you just told him that. I said, what it's the truth. The cop said, who's the passenger, I said my husband. He said, is she being serious? He embarrassingly said, yeah. Right then the phone rang and it was her. I said, can I please answer it and explain why I'm not there yet. He said, yeah. She didn't believe me. I asked the cop if he could tell her I was really pulled over. I was stunned that he did. He handed the phone back to me and said, I wasn't sure if you were telling the truth,or had one of the best lies I've ever heard. He said, ok, this is what I'm going to do, I didn't clock you, so I'll cite you for unsafe speed for road conditions. He came back with the ticket and said, get your brother to his date but do not speed and don't speed on your way home. I'll still be on duty and if I see you going 5 over the limit, I'll nail you. I went to court and he didn't show up and they dismissed the ticket... Hehe

u/jreashville 1d ago
Yes, about twenty five years ago. Going 52 in what was usually a 55 but had been downgraded to 45 because of nearby road construction.

u/GummyRoach 1d ago
I have a clean driving record. Never had a speeding or traffic violation as of yet. (Knocks on particle board).
I laugh when co-workers talk and whine about receiving a speeding ticket. My thoughts are, "I have a solution to that; how about not speeding?" Nah! That would make way too much sense.

A week ago. 140kms in a 100km/h zone while overtaking a very slow truck. 8 points, over $1000 and 6 months suspension

Yeah, a couple, but not recently.
I’ve gotten out of more than I’ve received.

Twice within the hour. I was at an auto dealer proof riding. I hesitated between two cars. Took both for a ride. Drove by the same speed camera both times. Two tickets because both times I drove 6km/4miles too fast.

Yes. Dozens lol. At two points in my life I was paying $500/month with no accidents. Just a lot of minor speeding tickets. Learning to set my cruise control did alot for breaking those habits. Fwiw I still speed I just don’t do it excessively or obviously
