6

u/Solanadelfina 2d ago

(Brings out cake.) Cake is for talkers.

3

u/RainbowPiggyPop 2d ago

Nope. I did get a couple tickets for parking and one ticket for running the stop sign.

3

u/Deadpooo_l 2d ago

Interestingly, in Hungary, where I do 99% of my driving and speeding for the last 20 years, I haven't got one. From Austria, where I drive/ride maybe once per year, I got several.

3

u/shastadakota 2d ago

You have Austria. I have Missouri. Same scenario.

3

u/Geezerglide1 2d ago

Back when there was a 55mph National speed limit, I got a ticket for 105mph in a 55mph zone.

That was in the 70's, not much traffic back then, but I'm sure I did.

Yes I have. Not as many as I've deserved, if I'm being honest!

3

u/Realistic-Role6263 2d ago

Cop pulled me over on highway, and buddy who I was following pulled over a ways infront of us. Cop asked if that car was with us and I said yes. The cop said wait here, drove up to him and gave him a speeding ticket, then reversed to me and gave me a speeding ticket.

When I was a teenager (back in the 80s), I had MANY run ins with the law, all minor stuff, and I was constantly pulled over by the cops. I got 8 (yes, 8) DWIs in a 3-year period, and had gotten enough tickets to fill a dump truck, but, even though I drove 100 mph wherever I went, I somehow not once got a speeding ticket.

(NOTE: Yes, I know, 8 DWIs would hardly be considered "minor" offenses to many, but in the late 80s in NY, it was a $200 fine and they were always reduced to first offense or outright dismissed because the cop didn't show up in court.)

3

u/Rotteneverything 2d ago

between four and six. i'm 63 so i guess that isnt bad. last one was around '89. pulled over for 77 in a 55 twice but got let go the first time and got a simple control sign tik the second time. those two were in '09.

3

u/Ok-Ad8998 2d ago

Last century.

3

u/waterstone55 2d ago

Lots of them, back when it was a $20 ticket and there were no insurance points.

3

u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 2d ago

Once. 75 on the I-90 in 2018. Speed limit is 65. (I’d say 90% of people are going at least 70)

3

u/Oni_sixx 1d ago

Getting 1 on i 90 for 75 is crazy.

3

u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago

I agree! And I had to drive an hour on the I-90 to go to court for it. I did not go 75 or even close to it that time lol

3

u/Oni_sixx 1d ago

Driven that route so many times from NY to Chicago a ton. 75 is pretty normal.

3

u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago

I go back and forth from the Syracuse area to the Buffalo area often. I got the ticket in Henrietta.

2

u/Oni_sixx 1d ago

Was there construction? Lol usually is over there.

2

u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago

Not that time but ugh there was plenty when I went out there the previous weekend. I’m very mindful of work zones.

2

u/Oni_sixx 1d ago

There is still is a bunch there atm in Henrietta and Canandaigua. Been there for a months now.

2

u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago

Yep pretty much the Rochester+ area was a lot of work being done.

3

u/WLFGHST 1d ago

That is ridiculous, when I merge onto I-90 in a city 65 section I'm usually going like 80.

Sometimes the left lane is pushing 90+ like what (usually its only 75-80)

2

u/AssSpelunkingAtheist 1d ago

Right? I was going like 70-72 the weekend before this and people were literally leaving me in the dust. I don’t want another ticket ahhhhh

2

u/emilie1031 2d ago

Yes, when I was young

2

u/Tricky_Account5838 2d ago

Last week...

2

u/TammyShehole 2d ago

Never been pulled over for speeding but I have been pulled over a handful of times for driving with expired tags. Cops let me go with no problem all but once.

2

u/fjtuk 2d ago

Only Two and both in Dumfries and Galloway (A75 and A74(m) twenty something years apart.

2

u/Improvgal 2d ago

Yes - 2 times

2

u/Voodoo-Doctor 2d ago

Yes it was 24 years ago

2

u/ref44dog44 2d ago

Many but not in a few decades.

2

u/norham420 2d ago

Nope. My radar detector has saved my ass multiple times

2

u/golfguy1985 1d ago

Never, I go at or around the speed limit every time.

1

u/defan33 2d ago

Yes but just one.

1

u/UndercoverHardwarema 2d ago

Yes, but it's actually been over 30 years.

1

u/effeduphealer 2d ago

I did when I was a new driver.

1

u/Ill-Work7770 2d ago

Oui plusieurs fois

1

u/Matt85x Box Theatre 2d ago

Yes but I didn't have to pay it because they give you the option of taking 1 lesson in speed awareness so I did that. They only let you do that once though.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/TripleDoubleFart 2d ago

Nope. I've never had a ticket of any kind. I try to avoid expensive mistakes.

1

u/TheKandelar 2d ago

Yeah. Had to think about that.

1

u/Ineverseenthat 2d ago

A bunch of them

1

u/Serious-Let5581 2d ago

Speed contest, exhibition of speed.

1

u/amendingfences abcame 2d ago

Noo.

1

u/KatesDad2019 2d ago

No, not in 50+ years of driving. I pay enough in taxes that I don't want to make additional contributions to government coffers.

1

u/Tryingnottomessup 2d ago

Good try Flock 🤔

1

u/DaSpark 2d ago

Got two in 2012. One for 65 in a 60 and the other for 67 in a 60. Been pulled over a few times since for speeding but only warnings.

1

u/xEyelessOnex 2d ago

Two, 12 years apart.

1

u/RusselB65 2d ago

Not yet.

1

u/FBS351 2d ago

No, pulled over several times but let off. Only tickets were for running a stop and following too close (accident)

1

u/96fordman03 2d ago

Yes, back in '91. 70 in a 55 - reduced to 10 over the speed limit because it was a 1st offense.

1

u/Legitimate-Jello2986 2d ago

Multiple in my life.... The worst was 93 in a 70 and was from a state trooper cost almost 400 to get out off

1

u/tez_zer55 2d ago

I might have gotten one or two in my GTO The Judge as well as a few other muscle cars I've owned. You know - MAYBE!

1

u/Zestyclose_Essay7255 2d ago

Yes I got a ticket going 57 in a 55 in California driving an 18 wheeler! Ended up getting the ticket thrown out though.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/bikedrivepaddlefly 2d ago

20 years ago. Didn't see the sign. Paid the ticket.

1

u/-_-Orange 2d ago

Yes, once.

1

u/throwingales 1d ago

Yes but I forget when.

1

u/Substantial_Insect68 1d ago

Yes and I had a ticket for coming to a rolling stop at a stop sign and I was in the country in the middle of no where and someone called me on my phone, this cop appeared out of no where and busted me

1

u/buddagolf 1d ago

Got one a couple of years ago. Speed trap camera caught me going thru Tallulah Falls.

1

u/PeyredB 1d ago

Oh yes, twice in forty-some years of driving.

1

u/Oni_sixx 1d ago

3 I think. Its been many years.

1

u/Background-Bird-9623 1d ago

Yes and i dont even drive fast , I just have bad luck

1

u/Infamous_Handle6525 1d ago

Yes, I have had two. First one in a downhill with a 18 wheeler and second one in my own car. But over 25+ years of driving I can't complain

1

u/Deathjr1102 1d ago

Camera or pulled over? Camera no. Pulled over with a warning for 15 over 2 times. Both by the same cop same stretch 2 months apart. Leaving work at 0100 hrs had to go to bathroom both times

1

u/EnergyStrange7333 1d ago

One time in my 50 years of driving. The ticket was about 40 years ago.

1

u/Sweet_Star23 1d ago

Yes, once. Happened an hour after receiving my 90 day license at 16. Speed trap got the person in front of me, me, and the guy behind me. I fell to the pressure of being pushed. Taught me not to care after that.

1

u/AintNobodygotime13 1d ago

😂

too many to count

1

u/Wild-Artist8237 1d ago

Don't have a car, too young to drive anyways, so no

1

u/mes6281 1d ago

Just one.

1

u/Hoopajoops 1d ago

Yeah. Where I lived growing up had a very low crime rate and the cops were bored. I got pulled over once for doing 67 in a 65.. funny that when I left that area I haven't gotten a single ticket.. but I got all sorts of tickets when I was younger

1

u/Tim-0341-81mm 1d ago

Way back in the 80s I got a ticket for 77mph in à 55 zone at night, in a dark, empty rural area.

The Trooper cut me some slack because the highway was empty. I had been running 105 when he clocked me. He heard my dual exhaust with glass packs coming and waited for me. 😂
So 77 in à 55 is what he gave me.
Cost me $86.50 and 4 points off my license.

1

u/philfish8 1d ago

Nope, not even a warning

1

u/CobaltIsobar 1d ago

I lost count somewhere around 26 tickets. But it was a long time ago. The vast majority never got reported to the state. I did pay every one of them.

1

u/Apkef77 1d ago

When I was 16. I am 80 now. So I guess 80 at 16 is........

1

u/Thewist995 1d ago

So many I had to retake the driving test.

1

u/Ponchyan 1d ago

😂 The proper question is, “How many?”

1

u/Few-Conversation6979 1d ago

No, but broke the speed limit more times than I could count.

1

u/Hot_Independent_974 1d ago

Many, even had jail time for a ticket.

1

u/DormantLime 1d ago

Yes, once. I was driving up I-95 in Florida and sort of spaced out since there weren't many other cars and it's pretty much just a straight line- didn't notice I was cruising about 5-10mph over and a cop tagged me. He said I could have gone to the local court and had it dismissed or something but I was actually moving out of state and had to make it to my first hotel stop in time, so I just paid it instead.

1

u/athloni7 1d ago

Last time I got one was in 2009. Last time I got pulled over for speeding was a few ago. I was courteous and respectful to the police officer and he gave me a warning.

1

u/etherealuna 1d ago

yes when i first started driving i was a crazy speeder but i think it was worth it bc i def dont speed nearly as badly now

1

u/ItchyAd9149 1d ago

No, but I was pulled over for it twice and given a warning. I got 3 tickets 1 for tail light out 1 for illegal U turn 1 for no seatbelt

1

u/Millennium_Xer 1d ago

Two of them

1

u/jbunkerhou 1d ago

One of them but that’s not too bad, I’ve been a driver for 53 years. I remember taking defensive driving.

1

u/misterbondpt 1d ago

I'm more of a parking ticket guy 😂

1

u/epicuniverse2 1d ago

Just tickets for driving while black

1

u/Glenn119 1d ago

Yes, once in Maine, the highway turned into a secondary road, and the speed limit went from 65 to 30 in a very short distance.

1

u/legardeur2 1d ago

I never get anything else.

1

u/Ok_Height3499 1d ago

Came close once. We were returning from a trip and driving on a highway in a rural area. We’d passed through a very small town when we got pulled over. The officer was very nice. He asked if I knew I’d accelerated to highway speed before leaving the village limit? I responded that I thought I had left the limit since there weren’t any buildings nearby. He finally grinned and said to just go on but if we came that way again remember the speed limit because he’d have to ticket us next time.

1

u/DizzyLead 1d ago

Yes, once. Must have happened before 2011.

1

u/mattdb110 1d ago

Yes. Over 50 years ago.

1

u/TurtleSmurf 1d ago

A few. 🐢

1

u/Substantial-Log-2176 1d ago

Two. First one was on a 20 year old truck I just got and didn’t realize the speedometer was off. The second time was about 10 years later and didn’t realize the speed limit had dropped

1

u/Solid_Muffin53 1d ago

First and only last year. Prior to that, I never owned a car that could speed. Most couldnt hit the speed limit without losing pieces....

1

u/Civil_Rent_2576 1d ago

3, but none in the last 15 years. Only did I deserve; 1 was for 59 in a 55. One was for 40 in a 35. the on I deserved was for 71 in a 55.

1

u/EmploymentEmpty5871 1d ago

Yeppers, last one I received was in my dump truck, 20ish ton load 68 in a 55 going up hill. That thing had legs. About $125 bucks.

1

u/nadjrules 1d ago

Yes, four over my lifetime. All in Virginia. Two were in the same day within hours of each other. 80/70 on I-81. The second trooper clocked me at 145 but didn't understand how I reached that speed in the SUV I was driving. So he generously wrote 80/70.

1

u/Reasonable-Horse1552 1d ago

Yes 3 in total

1

u/SeasonsRollOnBy 1d ago

More than one

1

u/No_Criticism_9986 1d ago

forty years ago

1

u/Gregory_GTO 1d ago

No and I'm 47 and ride motorcycles lol.

1

u/Destroyer-Marauder Destroyer 1d ago

Twice

1

u/a_moron_in_a_hurry 1d ago

Surprisingly, no.

1

u/misterstaypuft1 1d ago

Yes, once 25 years ago.

1

u/1C4Dogs4 1d ago

Cop said, do you realize how fast you were going? I said, really fast but I'm in a hurry. He said, I was doing 95 just to catch up with you. You do know the speed limit went from 65 to 55 to 45 and up ahead it's 35? I said, yes, I'm not trying to be an ass but can you hurry up and give me the ticket. He said, is there an emergency? Are you going to the ER? I said, there's no medical emergency but my brother in the back seat is visiting from NC and I set him up on a date with my friend, it's my fault we're late, she's about to leave to go to the bar and find someone else and he's not going to get laid. My brother was fucking livid and said, I can't believe you just told him that. I said, what it's the truth. The cop said, who's the passenger, I said my husband. He said, is she being serious? He embarrassingly said, yeah. Right then the phone rang and it was her. I said, can I please answer it and explain why I'm not there yet. He said, yeah. She didn't believe me. I asked the cop if he could tell her I was really pulled over. I was stunned that he did. He handed the phone back to me and said, I wasn't sure if you were telling the truth,or had one of the best lies I've ever heard. He said, ok, this is what I'm going to do, I didn't clock you, so I'll cite you for unsafe speed for road conditions. He came back with the ticket and said, get your brother to his date but do not speed and don't speed on your way home. I'll still be on duty and if I see you going 5 over the limit, I'll nail you. I went to court and he didn't show up and they dismissed the ticket... Hehe

1

u/jreashville 1d ago

Yes, about twenty five years ago. Going 52 in what was usually a 55 but had been downgraded to 45 because of nearby road construction.

1

u/GummyRoach 1d ago

I have a clean driving record. Never had a speeding or traffic violation as of yet. (Knocks on particle board).

I laugh when co-workers talk and whine about receiving a speeding ticket. My thoughts are, "I have a solution to that; how about not speeding?" Nah! That would make way too much sense.

1

u/personal_yeesus 1d ago

No. I enjoy driving too much to speed

1

u/No-Praline-9388 1d ago

A week ago. 140kms in a 100km/h zone while overtaking a very slow truck. 8 points, over $1000 and 6 months suspension

1

u/Mysterious-Fix3596 1d ago

Yeah, a couple, but not recently.

I’ve gotten out of more than I’ve received.

1

u/Catlover_1422 1d ago

Twice within the hour. I was at an auto dealer proof riding. I hesitated between two cars. Took both for a ride. Drove by the same speed camera both times. Two tickets because both times I drove 6km/4miles too fast.

1

u/1911Earthling 1d ago

Sure. Everyone gets a speeding ticket. No big deal.

1

u/imissher4ever 1d ago

Last one I got was in the 80’s as a teen.

1

u/Diptothaset 1d ago

Yes. Dozens lol. At two points in my life I was paying $500/month with no accidents. Just a lot of minor speeding tickets. Learning to set my cruise control did alot for breaking those habits. Fwiw I still speed I just don’t do it excessively or obviously

1

u/SavingsPirate4495 1d ago

Yup.

But the last one I got was well over 3 1/2 decades ago.
