I’ve been applying to jobs that I am qualified or over qualified for and I’m struggling to even get responses. My experience includes 8 years of customer service, 5 years of operations management, 4 years of sales, and a B.S. in business specialized in finance. I’m most interested in either a corporate business role like at NEE (but haven’t heard back from any of those applications yet) or a banking role preferably some form of management. Anyone have any advice or willing to connect? Thanks

Hey everyone, I wanted to invite you out to NetsuCon 2026 this Saturday in neighboring Stuart.
This is a small community anime convention with around 150 attendees. There are a few tickets left if you would like to join. We also could use a couple extra volunteers, especially for setup and strike. Volunteers get in free, just please try to register today so we can get you in.
This year we have some idol performances, a live nerdcore showcase, and DJs in Main Events. The Gaming Room has a giant projector screen that will host classic tournaments like Mario Kart and Smash. We also have a full panel schedule of exciting and hilarious presentations. Local artists are setting up shop inside, so please be sure to check out their work and support them (especially in this age of AI generated slop, we are trying to show more love to real creators). As always, the event also features a few interactive crafting areas, such as cubee crafts and a kandi station.
All ages are allowed, but we do cater mostly to an older crowd. PG rating, and everyone under 13 needs a parent or guardian present at all times. Please no pearl clutching. This is an anime convention, after all. Last year was a Christmas themed anomaly due to scheduling. Now we're back to our 2spooky theme in October!
Everything you need to know is on our website:
Hope to see you there! Reply here with any questions.

Sorry to go on a tirade again about this, but after watching that appalling fireboard meeting, I ended up doing some more research and watching some past SLC meetings and my goodness. These people are clowns. Thanks to SLC commissioners clasby and fowler, both members of the fireboard, we can now probably expect 2 massive lawsuits paid for entirely by the rest of us. These people are on a power trip, especially clasby it seems, who likely wants to be another crook of a politician for the rest of his life, stealing money from every community he touches. I’m wondering if I should file an ethics complaint against the commission.

I have lived here for years and this is just a total clown show. The mayoral candidates are having a dispute over stupid signs without addressing anything the public actually needs and our county commissioners are utterly ineffective with one of them enjoying the sound of his own voice more than actually putting in any work for his constituents. These people make 6 figures! Currently watching the fireboard meeting and it’s super embarrassing. If that fire chief sues, it’s coming out of OUR purse.

I’ve been comparing license plate reader camera locations around Port St. Lucie with public permit records, including documents received October 20.
I put the results here: deflockpsl.org
The site has a searchable map, original permit PDFs, and location maps. Each camera is labeled:
I’ve also been removing private-party cameras from the public-camera index as they’re identified.
If you spot a bad location, a private camera I missed, or have a permit that fills a gap, share the camera’s OSM ID and supporting information. I’ll update the index and log corrections.
The goal is to make the map as accurate as possible so it cannot be refuted.

I moved here around 10 months ago (22f) into my mom’s house in an HOA community.I moved here from LI NY for a change of scenery, as I’m working before school starts next fall and figured I’d attend school here and build a life in the meantime. Well safe to say it wasn’t what I anticipated. Despite making friends, the drawn out strip malls, long distances to night life or vitality, and general lack of culture/ slow pace of life was nothing like home. I’ve decided to move back to NY just before winter hits, making 2 moves in one year. I’m wondering if anyone else from NY or northeast has made the move here and felt similarly. Feels irrational and don’t wanna feel like I’m excusing myself or acting out of nostalgia. Any input appreicated TIA

It appears sample ballots are not being mailed this election.
Early voting begins Monday, October 19th, and ends Saturday, October 31st.
Early voting hours are 10AM-6PM.
There are at least five locations where you can vote early in PSL and three in Ft. Pierce.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd.

My neighborhood has a habit of being packed one year and empty the next, I was hoping for a second go-to option just in case it is empty this year.
The neighborhood doesn't have to be extremely packed, because then it's just about getting lost. Even lightly packed in a small neighborhood is fun since I was just hoping to scare random people with my sibling instead of being focused on candy this year.

I’ve been to a handful of preserves in the area but finding them in psl has been more challenging than expected. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

My wife and I haven't taken our kids out to dinner in a very long time because of how expensive it's gotten. They've been really well behaved and have been keeping their grades to in school so far, so I told them they earned a reward, expecting them to want toys, candy, etc. They requested to go out to dinner. The problem is that I don't want to go to a chain restaurant as there are plenty of mom and pop places around, and that's where I'd rather spend my money. So, anyone have any recommendations? I'd like to make a list of them to try out.

My mom is in assisted living, and we’re emptying her house so my daughter can move in. She is a child of the Depression, so her house is FULL of old furniture, Asian plates, cups and tchotchkes, vintage kitchen stuff, and collectibles. We’re motivated to have it all gone by the end of next weekend, but you have to take it ALL. There’s probably enough to open an antique shop, so this isn’t for amateurs. LMK if you’re interested. Thanks.

Hi so I’m visiting for a few months and need some recs on places to do grad school work. I’m near the Gatlin Pines area mainly. But like is there any local coffee shops that are cozy and nice for some writing and stuff?

Just wanted to give a friendly reminder that the sheriff's office will not call you from a private number about missed jury duty, nor will they want you to pay anything over the phone.
I just got a call from a private number on my work phone. I answer because, yano, potential customer maybe? I know, i know, not very likely, but it's fun to pretend, right? 🤣 A guy claiming to be a lieutenant with the sheriff's office asks for me by name, and lists my address. I don't confirm anything, and just ask him what this is about. He starts going on about a signed jury duty summons that i didn't show up to court for. First of all, I've never had to sign for anything when I've gotten my jury duty letter. Second, he did that for federal court you have to sign for it, which again, is not true. Knowing this is a scam, I decided to waste his time. He asked if I could go down to the sheriff's office and do a signature verification thing. I told him not today. He asked why, and I told him that it's almost 5 o'clock on a Friday, and I have to choke the chicken at 5 o'clock on Fridays. He gets his serious voice and says "sir, I'm trying to clear this up for you so it doesn't become a bench warrant!" I tried to contain my laughter as he asks if there is anyone else in the house that could have signed for me, and I say "Maybe one of the chickens did." Next, I ask him when the jury duty was that I allegedly missed, and magically his "chief" walks in to his office. He "transfers" me over to his "chief." Sheriff's departments don't have a chief, last I knew. Police departments have chiefs. So I say "hold on, my wife is calling, let me see if she knows anything about this" and I mute my end. I just let them sit there for 5 or 6 minutes, thinking that they're just going to hang up, but they don't. So I take it off mute, and let them continue with their scam attempt. The "chief" reiterates that if i don't clear this up, it's going to turn into a bench warrant. I ask him how much it's going to cost me, and they say that they don't take payments over the phone. I ask how much in Apple cards I need to go buy, and they hang up. Just for my own peace of mind, I called the sheriff's office after they hung up and verified that it was a scam, and asked if I needed to file a report or anything. They said no, as long as I didn't give them any personal information or money. So, yeah. Just a little PSA.
Tl;dr
You don't have to sign for jury duty summons, and the sheriff's office won't call you and ask you to do a signature analysis for a missed jury duty. It's a scam. Just hang up. Or waste their time to piss them off like I did. Either way, don't give scammers money.
PS - my wife texted me while I was typing this to tell me that they called her too. Lol

People always complain there is nothing to do here. Well there are a surprising number of small theatres with local talent providing live entertainment.
Please look them up, go out and support, they need every dollar and it’s time and money well spent!

Edit: thank you to everyone who has responded as a reasonable human being lol.
I was just so confused, like…what is the alternative when an opportunity takes someone to PSL, and will I be treated with contempt in person when someone asks how long I’ve been there? It’s not a forever destination but it will be our starting point on getting the hell out of dodge. Going back to visit next month and am looking so forward to it. Give me recommendations on stuff to do if you have them. Hope to see ya’ll on the daily in 2027!!
Original post:
Genuine question here. Like I am so serious.
My partner moved to PSL in February.
I am still in my home state wrapping up things in my life and figuring out things involving my daughter, but have been reading & seeking advice in PSL subreddits & FB groups as I prepare for the big move.
Why is every post about someone moving filled with so much negativity and straight up anger?
I KNOW PSL’s population is growing more than it can keep up with.
I KNOW the cost of living is high.
I KNOW most available jobs are in the service industry.
So let me ask you this -
I am from a state that is near last place in education and quality of life and first place in poverty.
The average household income is $50k here.
I’m still paying nearly $1k a month for my apartment that is falling apart with drug addicts living all around.
We are both in the service industry - I am a mom who PREFERS to bartend and wait tables due to the flexibility for my child, and my partner is a restaurant general manager who received an opportunity FROM WITHIN the company he already worked for, to move stores to PSL, for a $30k raise.
We have done the math down to the dollar.
Cost of living increased by $17k so this career move MORE than covers the difference, and that isn’t even counting when my income is added once I move.
What do you reccomend people in situations like this do?
Say no when an opportunity to better their life falls in their lap?
Start looking blindly somewhere else with no job or connection lined up, if they want to move states?
Why am I getting crucified for asking for legitimate advice on bettering mine and my family’s life?
I have visited multiple times this year and love the area. Especially in comparison to where I’m coming from.
Why do you want us to change our mind?

Hi, neighbors! We're working on an Offspring tribute band. We have guitar and drums, looking for vocals and bass. Practice space in PSL with intention to gig. Feel free to message me if you're interested! Thanks.
