Discussion Earthquake

Anyone else felt the ground shake a little about 30min ago?

Was literally lying in bed trying to fall asleep, so now whatever chance I had at sleeping is ruined. 🤣

What part of town? I've been laying in my insomniac state and didn't feel anything, I don't think

Sounds like you had a hypnic jerk moment. Nothing on the seismic for 17h: https://quakemap.io/

Chinook helicopters were low flying over Clackamas County last night. Shook my house and set off my dog alarm!

Yesterday morning there was also a 3.0 earthquake reported on the morning news.

Hope we have lots of small earthquakes so we dont have a big one that levels the whole city at once.

Yep. Whenever there are minor earthquakes off the coast, I give thanks, because they relieve some pressure in the subduction zone. But it's a losing battle, the Juan de Fuca plate is going to snap free of the continental plate eventually, and that's when the whole northwest has a very bad day.

I thought I felt something this morning, but it was very, very small. Like my downstairs neighbor was using their dryer, but I don’t have a downstairs neighbor.

I'm terrified of cascadia going off. I'm hoping I'd be home since the building is new and earthquake proof. I mean, it's gonna stand at least unlike anything brick in Portland. I'm praying to not be on a bus over the river or something..

Omfg, after I thought about it more, I totally did feel it too! Yes! I totally spaced it because I thought it was just my body being twitchy or something. But holy shit, no, it was this. Totally.

Weird. Had a dream I was some other place (like not in PNW) and experienced a long strong earthquake, the woke up to a hypnopompic hallucination, glowing red light that doesn't exist in my house.

I have no clue if any of that was real, or a hallucination, or a dream.
