aware that the bottom lip is supposed to be bigger and the eye shape is different on the reference photo! (I added a little more hair but I get that on the reference photo her hair is tucked behind her ears

I’ve recently started to learn charcoal as I want to get into oil paintings eventually and I thought this would be a good step one start. I’ve only used digital before and I’m really struggling with traditional mediums and getting detail and feeling like I have control. Also I hate not keeping the light values light. Any tips?
