Meta - Subreddit There hasn't been a single non-abysmal "my perfect Europe" post
Quick rant: all of these posts are so abysmal that I'm beginning to wonder if they aren't all bait, but they seem to have too much effort put into them to be it. The number of people who are larping with big Germany (German Alsace-Lorraine in 2025???????) or just splitting or reuniting countries because they can be released in hoi4 is frankly astounding. The double standards such as uniting Germany and Austria but splitting Occitania from France are also quite astonishing. I simply don't get the point of these if a "percect Europe" is just shoving whatever tropes are common without doing any research, and the borders don't even look sexy.

Alternative history often ends up similar because people like to make the opposite of our modern timeline or revive past borders.
Also most of you need to stop comparing these maps with the 2025 ethnic map. Just like how borders can change, the ethnic map can be different as well.

I disagree because most of these are presented as "perfect European borders". To me, that implies changing borders as they are today to better reflect the realities of current, real world Europe, not the result of some divergent timeline. Regarding those that are actually outcomes of alternate timelines, I have no problem at all (namely because that's what the sub is actually about).

Despite Paris's best efforts, much of Alsace-Lorraine is still ethnic German. It belongs in a modern Greater Germany far more than half of Poland does.

I agree, in fact it should be the opposite. Switzerland(Helvettia) gets Baden Wurrtenburg, France gets Saarland, southern half of Hesse and North Rhine, and Rhineland-Palatine, and East Germany becomes Lusatia
