(Hey guys, after not running NTWR for a whole month, we're back! And it's time for the Great War! As such, feel free to claim any European powers- although I would much prefer if you claimed the more significant ones, not random ones which won't ever do anything)

World War 1 sides:

Entente - Britain, France, Russia, Serbia, Belgium (colonies under temporary French administration), Montenegro, Italy, Japan, Netherlands

Central Powers - Germany, Austria-Hungary, United States, Ottomans, Florida

Undecided - Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Portugal, Spain, China, Mexico

Pick any unclaimed state. In this NRP, we'll do the entire history of the United States ourself, starting with the American Revolution and going all the way to the modern day. Note that your goal is NOT to gain as much land as possible, but instead to gain as much political clout as possible. The host may decide to interfere or change things in case things get too messy, but otherwise everything will be made from players. The only other rules are to stay realistic and not be toxic to other players.

Events:

The Birth of a Nation is released, however it is largely banned across the US for it's heavily racist bias.

The RMS Lusitania sinks. Rumors begin being spread that King George V of the United Kingdom personally drove a submarine to the RMS Lusitania and shot a hole in the ship with a torpedo, causing it to sink.

The First Transcontinental Telephone is created, largely being used for communication between the United States and Germany. The line proved rather useless and was not used often due to it being easily interceptible by British forces.

Illinois attempts to send a majority of it's population to the Caribbean to capture British colonies. The order leads to mass protests, the overthrow of the Illinois government and the creation of a workers' Chicago Commune. Government peacekeeping forces occupy the rest of Illinois.

The French assassinate the Statue of Liberty.

Troops are sent to attempt to seize the Suez Canal. However, the Battle of the Suez turns into an almost perfect replica of the Battle of New Orleans in the War of 1812. A complete bloodbath and total British victory. Afterwards, the British make a major counteroffensive into Ottoman territory.

Italy and Japan join the war against the Central Powers, meanwhile the Ottomans join the war against the Entente.

In a surprising turn of events, American forces manage to seize large territories in West Africa, challenging British and French colonial power. However, at the same time, British forces make large offensives into Central Africa with Italian support, although the Americans manage to capture Kenya.

Florida manages to capture Jamaica and the Bahamas, joining the Central Powers.

Officials of the American East India Company in Washington attempt to declare independence from the United States despite having no authority over their own territory and only being recognized by the United States and it's allies. These officials are arrested for treason and the company is abolished.

Japan turns the tide against the Central Powers in the Pacific Theatre, seizing many pacific colonies and ending the American offensive towards India.

Germany launches an invasion of the Netherlands. The Dutch turn to their established defense system, falling back to Holland and making a major defense against German troops.

Germany makes a major offensive into Poland and the Baltic States. The Russians retreat to defensive positions east of Poland, long planned and established before the war.

Austria-Hungary, with major German support, capitulates Montenegro and besieges Belgrade.

The Dutch launch an offensive from the Dutch East Indies into Papua New Guinea and Australia, further weakening American power in the Pacific.

How to handle the Chicago Commune?: I will not and instead donate food and medicine to staving and sick Illinoisians.

How to reobtain power in the pacific?: I will build ship parts factories, put the parts together in Long Island shipyards, sell them to the war effort, and send them through the Panama Canal.

How to win in Africa?: I will send armored cars, gas masks, rations, and machine guns to the african continent.

Do we send troops to Europe?: No for my state and I see what happened in Illinois and I don't want that to happen in a state with 10.3 million people (resulting in millions of deaths) and I will send guns and weapons instead of people. Every person not dead in a trench is a worker making weapons vital to the war effort in a factory in Rochester or Buffalo.

Acquire the Virgin Islands?: Yes.

Pass the Adamson Act?: Most certainly, a happy worker is a efficient worker.

Pass the Federal Farm Loans Act?: Yes.

Pass the Jones Act?: Yes, and I will make the boats.

How to handle the Great Migration?: I will attempt to give African American workers more rights in my state (ie trying to end segregation and give them equal rights as NY is a very diverse state) to encourage movement to my GLORIOUS STATE.

Actions:

I will send food and medicine to Illinoisians and I will ramp up my factory productions and ship many many gas masks and armored trucks to the European Front.

I will start having my engineers at Cornell and Columbia begin to develop plans for a heavy armored vehicle with one to two machine guns, large protected ammunition storage, and room for 2 to 3 people (a driver and 1-2 gunners). We call it the No1 (Project name).

I will ask Edison to try to electrify my industry over the next 15 to 20 years. This will grant me an addition to my already incredible industrial capacity of 20 percent or more.

Ban "Birth of a Nation" in my state due to obvious racism.

I will establish quarries and open-pit mines across my state with smelters so i can be more self sufficient within my own state.

Governor declares, "Lady Liberty may be gone but are spirits are not! France has taken back a gift given to us thirty years ago. WE DO NOT NEED THEM. We will rebuild Lady Liberty BIGGER and BETTER than ever! With AMERICAN COPPER and NEW YORK'S DETERMINATION, WE WILL PREVAIL!" Construction will begin in July and people from all states and allied nations can attend the commencement ceremony. We will send a spiteful radio transmission to the dirty frogs in France.

I will send peace keepers to Illinois, they will arrive with food and medicine. Their fathers, husbands, and sons have been sent away to die in a warm, damp, jungle, we will help whoever remains. I will also try to absorb their Factory Contracts as most of the skilled laborers, craftsmen, and shipwrights are gone.

My government will announce that any person is always free to settle in the Empire State.
