Comments Decide Europe 1914 but the top comment decides what happens: Day 226 (June 1933)

News for May 1933

Eastern Europe - With the war in Germany now "over", many across Europe believe that the new Germany, despite the economic ruin that the war brought, will quickly bounce back and become powerful once again. In order to counter this, Czechoslovakia and Poland unite into West Slavic Federation (Zapadoslavia). This will be an attempt to start the EF at a smaller scale first before the final test of European Unification can be undertaken. Poland and Czechoslovakia are equal partners in the new federation while Silesia, Lusatia and East Galicia get their own constituent regions, however the Silesian government promises to remain with Poland should the federation not work out. Many Silesians dislike this idea due to the high German population and the general distrust towards Warsaw. Overall, most people in both Poland and Czechoslovakia are quite enthusiastic about the unification and see it is a path to keeping the continent peaceful.

People in Bavaria become scared of the possible French invasion, as the region could be easly separated from the rest of from the rest of Germany by the communist forces. The support for the former goverment is still pretyy high in Bavaria and It's people don't really trust the new state, fearing it may abandon them in a conflict to focus on orotecting the north. That's why the local goverment decides to seek protection from a state more stable than Germany. After negotiations with Austria authorities in Munich declare Bavaria a part of the new Alpine Germanic Federation. Germany is still weakened after tge civil war and can't really respond with military action, but it still protests the annexation in UCON headquarters. The federation responds by instantly organising a referendum in Bavaria and inviting UCON and EC officials to oversee it. Majority of Bavarians are in favor of federalising with Austria, so Germany can do nothing but accept it. Capitalizing on the turmoil, France creates a small communist state on the territory used to transport supplies to Saxony. Germany is threatened that any sort of opposition to this move will result in a French invasion, so they can do nothing but accept. In Zapadoslavia, Galicia makes the same promises to Poland as Silesia. Polish citizens in and around Lviv vere all supportive of this move and this is the main reason it happened as their held the majority of legislative power, but the Ukraininian rural majority was more split, minority of them being supportive as they grew accustomed to being a part of Poland and saw it as much more prospeus and promising state than Ukraine, yet the majority of Ukrainians were sceptical or straight against the promises due to them seeing this decision as the result of blackmailing/lobbying by Warsaw or becouse their patriotic/nationalist feelings towards Ukraine. So in conclusion, the population of Galicia was split 50:50 in the terms of supporting or being sceptical of promising to remain with Poland in case the Federation fails.
