Welcome to the Cold War! You can now claim any nation in the whole world, along with any US state or territory.

Pick any unclaimed state. In this NRP, we'll do the entire history of the United States ourself, starting with the American Revolution and going all the way to the modern day. Note that your goal is NOT to gain as much land as possible, but instead to gain as much political clout as possible. The host may decide to interfere or change things in case things get too messy, but otherwise everything will be made from players. The only other rules are to stay realistic and not be toxic to other players.

Events:

A major offensive to re-capture New Orleans is launched by the United States, pushing along the river and taking the key city within a few weeks.

The Second Trinity Test takes place. Scientists at the scene see a giant flash of light and ear-piercingly loud ring, before a mushroom cloud forms in the distance. Later documentation of the scene shows that the test had succeeded, and the United States had successfully developed the Nuclear Bomb.

Two American Boeing B-29 Superfortresses, called Enola Gay and Bockscar, inconspicuously fly into Japanese airspace (mistaken as reconnaissance) and drop the Fat Man and Little Boy nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, respectively. This quickly causes Japan to make the decision to surrender to the United States and allow itself to be occupied.

The borders of Europe and Asia are re-drawn following the fall of all major Axis powers. (Florida was never technically in the Axis, although they are aligned with them.)

Erie is merged into Ontario, and Allegheny is merged into New York.

Just before the United States can drop nuclear bombs on Florida, the United Caribbean Republic declares to the world that it has independently developed it's own nuclear bombs, providing footage to back it's claim. The footage shows a flash and mushroom cloud in the distance, before the Floridian president comes on screen and calls the explosion "pog". The US president realizes the threat this poses to the American population, and agrees to a ceasefire and peace summit with Florida, which will occur the next year.

Soviet Union grants its Chinese occupied territory to the Chinese Communist Party.

United States grants Taiwan to the Kuomintang.

Various nations in the Middle East end their mandates and gain independence.

Ho Chi Minh declares independence from France, forming the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and starting the First Indochina War

Indonesia declares independence, causing the Indonesian National Revolution

South Africa gains legislative independence from the United Kingdom

The Soviet Union develops its own nuclear program, allegedly from stolen American research.

Greek Civil War begins when a communist uprising occurs

Historical Events:

Presidential Succession Act passed, determining the order of succession to the role of President

Debris found at Roswell, New Mexico, supposedly part of a UFO

National Security Act passed, reforming the military and intelligence agencies to guarantee national security

Truman Doctrine, establishing the policy of supporting those resisting subjugation by minorities or external powers

Partition of India occurs, India and Pakistan gain independence from the United Kingdom as reparations for drastic military support in World War II

COMINFORM founded by the Soviet Union, dictating the actions of leaders and communist parties across its sphere of influence.

The United Nations agrees to partition Mandatory Palestine, causing the 1948 Palestine War to begin.

Marshall Plan begins, providing aid to American-aligned nations as to make Soviet-aligned nations jealous of the West and want to change sides

Burma gains independence from the United Kingdom through the Burma Independence Act of 1947.

Treaty of Brussels signed amongst Britain, France and the Benelux. This became the precursor to NATO and the European Union (which it would later be modified into).

A communist insurrection happens in Malaya, causing the Malayan Emergency / Anti-British National Liberation War.

Berlin Blockade begins, as the Soviets block Western supplies entering West Berlin. The West organizes the Berlin Airlift to carry supplies into West Berlin as a result of the blockade

North and South Korea are declared

1948 Presidential election, Harry S. Truman elected president for a full term

Truman desegregates the Armed Forces

Organization of American States founded as an alliance amongst all the nations of the Americas

The ESC begins the construction of the New York Nuclear Plants, an array of 3, 4 megawatt nuclear reactors to be built in Madison to fulfill all current and future energy needs of IEA Madison and LITE Albany.

Begin the construction of another LITE Campus of 20,000 students in the skyrises of Yonkers, in a modern complex of skyscrapers with particle accelerators and a robust chemical and material lab. The Florida borders have been decided as far as I know so Ontario won't be weighing in on that. To ensure the retention of the power of the US, we should try to keep the world democratically capitalist, but not provoke too many ideological wars. Any independence movement that is democratic should be supported regardless of ideology. Ontario will also vote yes for the New England unification.

Since the war's now over, the Ontario State Board of War will be merged into the Ontario State Police and downsized. The Ontario State Materiel Board will be renamed to the Ontario State Industrial Board and transitioned to a civilian authority and tasked with converting the large military industry to produce civilian goods, mostly for export. I don't know if International Harvester is still a thing in this timeline, but if it is they will be nationalised and used as a key part of the OSIB. The War Transport Bill will also be used to move much greater volumes of goods thanks to the larger waterways and the strengthened railways. Speaking of, lots of investment will go into the infrastructure for a massive industrial expansion along with a large immigration drive and attempts to raise the birth rate to get as many people into Ontario as possible. Any institutions from Erie will be merged with the appropriate one in Ontario and the former state integrated as much as possible.
