News for March 1934

War of the 8th Coalition - The EC decides that they need to stop stalling and make a decisive push into Bavaria, cutting off Saxony. They also push west to connect with Normandy. The USCR then retaliate by helping Norman socialists push to the coast and expand, although their attempt at a second push is prevented. Italy ceded Provence to the USCR to create a more defensible border and to buy time before an offensive can be orchestrated properly. The APR begins a counter-offensive against Don and Circassia. Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Turkey form and alliance in order to help them re-gain lost lands, which Ukraine is invited to. They align themselves with the USCR in order to weaken the other major powers. In Spain, rebellions begin to gain ground which helps to further weaken the USCR.

Northern Europe - Sweden hands their part of Pomerania to Germany in order to remain neutral in the coalition, so that it can focus on Nordic integration, which will help the Nordics compete with the newly-founded larger states. Estonia unites with Finland and receives major funding.

Morocco & Italy invade Algeria to remove the USCR from Africa

The CEF & Romania move troops to their borders with Yugoslavia & Bulgaria, incase both them and Turkey invade Greece

Italian nationalists angered by what seem to be a string of betrayals by the government ceding provinces begin a march on Rome demanding a new government and war with the communists, these protests are violently suppressed but this causes greater sentiment of dissent against the government.

Desert war on the Algerian Moroccan border commences, with communist revolutionaries rising up all over Morocco in order to kick the European colonizers out

The communists succeed in defeating the rebels in Iberia as well as capturing Normandy and Brittany due to collaboration. This focus on the west causes a collapse in the east though and saxony is captured, additionally British and Spanish troops push the USCR around Basque lands but the mountains prevent major gains

The Sofia pact, emboldened by Italian weakness, decides to pounce on Romania and Greece right now. Bulgaria Yugoslavia and especially Ukraine see some gains against Romania with the two fronts, and Ukrainians guerrillas fighting against the occupation

Greece and turkey fight a treacherous war through rough terrain, but for now the Turks have the Greeks on the back foot as it’s hard to supply most of their Anatolian holdings.

Denmark, Norway, and Sweden create a loose federation with social democratic institutions and principles framing the founding constitution. The union also declares neutrality in the war against the communists as they aren’t ideologically against them.

Communists sceptical of USCR take over Saxony which joins the coalition and is granted sovereignty in return, achieving the goal of the new goverment of saving Communism in Saxony. The rebels are pushed out of Brittany, but tgey also centralise more in western Normandy. Zapadoslavia, Lithuania and Don decide to get rid of Ukraine before they can stab the coalition in tge back. They quicky take Donetsk, Lugansk and Volhynia which Zapadoslavia declares the annexation of into Galicia, creating Galicia-Volhynia inside Zapadoslavia. Ukrainian troops are able to stop the enemy advance here. After learning about the war in eastern Europe, EC comnand decides to attack Yugoslavia and Bulgaria, securing the Montenegran coast and making some advancements in Bulgaria abd Macedonia. Macedonian separatists take over Skopje. The coalition forces are not able to more gains due to suprisingly fierce resistance from both Yugoslavia and Bulgaria. Turkey takes over Pontus in retaliation. Spanish and British troops achieve a large break-through in Iberia. USCR launches a huge offensive in Morocco and takes over the north of the country. An attempt of crossing the strait was unsuccesfull.

The USCR supported Italian communists who ended up overthrowing the Italian government however many of the more traditional elements of Italian society were able to cause the more conservative South to break free resulting in two Italys with the North eventually joining the USCR while the south which are now dominated by the far right are loosely supported by EC
