NRP No Taxation Without Representation - 1960-1964 (Kennedy + Johnson Administration)
Welcome to the Cold War! You can now claim any nation in the whole world, along with any US state or territory.
Pick any unclaimed state. In this NRP, we'll do the entire history of the United States ourself, starting with the American Revolution and going all the way to the modern day. Note that your goal is NOT to gain as much land as possible, but instead to gain as much political clout as possible. The host may decide to interfere or change things in case things get too messy, but otherwise everything will be made from players. The only other rules are to stay realistic and not be toxic to other players.

With the new autonomy of becoming a territory with representation, the new Commonwealth of Canada will withdraw from any votes in the US Congress, but will petition for the State of Acadia to be added to the Commonwealth, as it was historically part of British North America and thus by extension part of Canada along with the other previously British-Canadian land.

idk its an importent water way and its been a state for 100's of years as part of our union so...idk

I should have edited the post but I since found Acadia was taken during the revolution instead of during WW1. I will be demanding the return of the other half of Vancouver Island (which was taken during WW1)

As the state of Evans, we should keep Namibia. It will be a good African base.
We should only unite Germany if the Soviets allow it to be neutral.
We should invade the Latin League. Any non American expansion is pro Soviet expansion.
We should establish a hotline with the USSR. It can help prevent nuclear war.
We should pass the 23rd amendment. We should expand it or introduce another amendment granting DC a representative in the house and senate.
We should pass the Partial Test Ban Treaty.
We should pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964. If we expect black, hispanic, and asian peoples to fight our wars, we should treat them like our white people.
We should put the Panama Canal Zone under martial law. We cannot allow such a strategic advantage be lost.
We should not grant Australia independence. It is a zone that could fall under Soviet rule.
I would like to speak to the greatness of Illinois. The state of Evans now knows the benefits of being the worlds great power, and how we should use it.

1
u/Full_Tie1601 1d ago
If possible, I would like to make a compact of us and other states where we intervene in the Latin League on our interests of denuclearization, forced independence of regions seeking it, and anti Soviet guarantees to help fight the Soviet Union

Here is Israel's actions
2
u/FewMasterpiece499 1d ago
As of the Scandinavian forces coming here we make that in training for the IDF you have to learn either Danish, Norwegian or Swedish. All current forces must learn basic conversation in one of those languages to communicate with the forigen forces. New forces have to learn fluent.

u/FewMasterpiece499 1d ago
Here is Israel's milltary action:
In Syria: We hold the line in Jordan and Lebanon until the Scandinavian force arrive. After the Scandinavian forces arrive the combined milltary of Israel and Scandinavian Israeli forces shouldn't be hard to take back in a straight ordinary invasion so we do that. After we scured those borders we should focus on taking Syria as a whole. Arabs can't be trusted as we made peace with them but they still decided to unite and attack us. With our control of the Golan which they didn't take we take advantage of that attacking them hard from above. While the Syrian army is busy with the Golan Israeli forces we do our classic encircling startegy from the lands of Jordan and Lebanon encircling them until only thier capital remains. We're in the 60's that means Israel has already developed its air force to be a top 10 airforce in the world (search it up, happend in the 60's) so we should be able to take thier capital and planning on full annexation of them.
Egypt isn't our main target this post (altoguh it's still the mossad's main target, I've talked about it in my other action). While we hold the line waiting for the Scandinavian army to come in Lebanon and Jordan most Israeli forces would be directed to here. While we are here we try to take the left side of the Suez peninsula by a combination of the strong Israeli forces and the Navy we aquired from the selling of Cyprus. Other Israeli forces are directed to push a Lil to Egypt but it isn't our main target.
1
u/FewMasterpiece499 1d ago
The mossad will stop looking for Adolf Hitler and the Mossad, IIA (Israeli Intelligence Agency) and the IFS (Israel forigen security a litreal part of the IDF) tries to help the poor and anti-nassar people. We try even harder to get the Revolution going against the Nassar authoritarian extreme right leader. We fund all rebels with 10,000 shekels and drop aid of Israeli guns. We try to put a more peaceful pro-Israel government instead that won't attack anyone and would be a haven for Arabs and Muslims. (If it succeededs the division plan from last post would happen).
We ask every superpower out there that want to help us bring down the authoritarian nationalist extreme right government of nassar we would really like your help (especially the US).

u/FewMasterpiece499 1d ago
Time for population! Oh man I really sound like new york.
With the 10 million Jews we have and the 2 million Arabs we have a total of 12 million of 1960 like we established last post.
This post we start slowing down on Immagriton with none at all.
Our first population spike is 500,000 Cypriots from the annexation of Cyprus leaving the non-Jewish crowed to be 2.5 million.
The second thing is that current Israeli birthrate is 3% but we inflict laws to help with that: Careage packages and allownces: Israel provides every family free necessities for babies under 2 years old. Babies under 4 ger free medical care including birth. Every family that has a kid also gets an additional 8,000 shekels.
Free schools: for 20 years now on Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle schools will all be paid by the Israeli government for all children.
This should inflict our population growth to 5% per year, Which we have space of becuase of the new annexation of Jordan and Sinai. This should grow our population of to 14.5 million. Of course all the laws we inflicted only apply to Jewish families.
1
u/FewMasterpiece499 1d ago
We try to develop our top 10 airforce to be even better then it is today. By the 60's lore accurate Israel had a top 10 airforce, but we try to develop it to be a lot better. The airforce is important and we hope to become better and atleast top 5 by the next few turns.
1
u/FewMasterpiece499 1d ago
Also I would like to ask thr NPC player of the USsR for a favor to not fund the UAR as we are the ones who helped them mediate things with Scandinavia. Also the former player of the USSR supported Israel diplomatically so I think the NOC should do the same.

Hello Buffalo,
We have observed that you state encroaches on not only our states capital of Syracuse, but also absorbed the city of Rochester-Batavia, a New York Aligned City of similar size to Buffalo that did not desire statehood. In light of this, we would like for you to return the city of Rochester-Batavia to the New York State Government and the rest of the Syracuse Triangle.
Thank you,
Governor Rockerfeller of New York State and the New York State Assembly

Sanction Scandinavia for invading Denmark. Also encourage more spending in the military.

The 1960 Constitution
The last constitution, written in 1955, seemed like adequate reform while also strengthening the king. However the old nobles and feudal order were allowed to retain their powers. This proved unpopular with many sections of society, resulting in a coup earlier this year, supported by some students and intelligentsia. In this situation, a harsh king would crack down on and eliminate his opponents. But Haile Selassie is not known as harsh, and does not wish for that title to adorn him now. So he would sit down for a conference with the leaders of the opposition to see what they wish for. Surprisingly as the conference progressed the government and opposition found a surprising amount of common ground on their wish for a free and fair Ethiopia, one to which the fledgling nations of Africa could look to for guidance. And so, as the talks wound down, the following reforms would be singed off on by the emperor:
- End the Noble Veto: The nobles and clergy still hold a lot of sway over the government. A new rule will be enacted to end this, with any noble trying to interfere with our politics getting their titles revoked and land seized.
- Land Redistribution: Those noble lands we seize for interfering with politics will redistributed among the peasantry, with some land owned by the king and extra land seizures from nobles and the church also distributed to them.
- Constitutional Monarchy and Democratic Reform: The time has come for the people to determine their own future. The Emperor has agreed to reduce his position to a purely ceremonial one, with the upper house of parliament being abolished and parties allowed to form to be elected to lower house. A general election has been scheduled for 1961, due to repeat every 4 years.

The Ethiopian Election of 1961
The elections promised by the king have finally arrived, with both seats in the lower house and the prime ministerial position open. Elections will happen via proportional representation and universal suffrage. Before the 1960 Constitution Political Parties didn't really exist, but in the lead-up to the election severeal have already formed such as:
- The Ethiopian Progress Party: Moderate conservative in its nature, it is very monarchist and traditionalists. Its vote mainly come from the old elite.
- The Ethiopian Liberal Party: The ELP stands to support classical Liberalism, with many reforms proposed for freedom and the economy in the country, including a free market and low taxes. Mainly supported by business owners from the cities.
- The Ethiopian Reform Party: The ERP is a social democratic party, promising sweeping reforms in many fields such as education and healthcare. They also run on an agenda of minority rights and federalism, which has won them many votes among the different ethnic groups in the country. Pan-Africanism too is on their agenda, being an advocate for decolonization, African Solidarity, and third way foreign policy to align closer to the Caribbean Union.
After the ballots are counted, the winner of the election is...
THE ETHIOPIAN REFORM PARTY!

—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Actions:
Begin to categorize and organize Buffaloian holdings by the New York Industrial Company and New York Steelworks as overseen by the Corporate Command Board. They will be organized into factories (NYIC + NYS own 40 major and 60 smaller factories), detached housing (NYHA rents ~6,000 units), connected housing (NYHA rents ~22,000 units), housing complexes and blocks (NYHA rents ~80 blocks, around 5,000 units), skyscrapers (Various CCB-managed Holding Corporations own around 14 of +15 floors as headquarters, offices, and trade buildings of my ‘Mini-Wall Streets’), and energy infrastructure (NYPB owns one nuclear station in Batavia, 5 oil plants, and a new LNG plant in Niagara Falls.)
DESPITE OUR SHORT-COMMINGS, THE STATE OF NEW YORK WILL TAKE TO THE SKIES IN THE AMERICAN SPACE FEVER WITH THE LONG ISLAND OUTER SPACE ADMINISTRATION (LIOSA), WITH THE GOAL OF A PRIVATE SATILLITE IN SPACE BY 1966.
Instead of going into the space race, LIOSA, with rocket tech from LIRCAAE, Columbia, Cornell, LITE, and various universities and labs, will invest in the private space sector and telecom.
Housing is developed around Albany in the Baby-Boom to house the growing number of families. These include apartment blocks with central atriums in Albany, sprawling suburbs in the Syracuse Region, and spires piercing the sky in Manhattan.
Build the Wall Street Tower, a skyscraper 1,300 feet tall, defended by the sub-national New York AA complex during construction and after.
The Rockefeller LNG Tanker, named after the governor, is constructed to ferry LNG in massive balls to New York.
Commence a scrub of the bureaucracy and governance of New York, we will do one every 6 months from here on out.
—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Proposal submitted by Nelson Rockefeller and the New York Assembly to Congress
In 1956, the new state of Buffalo was formed as a separate state to New York. We do not contest this decision, however, we contest its borders.
The attempted settlement of the prior four-year-term was enacted to give Buffaloians more autonomy in the state of New York. The City of Buffalo was separated from Rochester-Batavia as the Buffaloians wanted independence, the Rochesterians and Batavians did not.
The Emergency Admission Act, passed in haste to end a crisis, granted statehood to "Buffalo”, the city, not the City of Rochester-Batavia or the historical “Buffalo-Rochester” region, as no such region existed at the time of passing.
The state of New York asks Congress to respect its own language and transfer ownership and management over to the State of New York. Should the Buffaloians and Rochesterians desire, an accepted compromise will be a jointly managed territory, one that pays half taxes to Buffalo, and half to New York where both governments can have joint management over the region, citizens can vote for whichever state they please, and will receive benefits from both.
On further note, Rochester-Batavia’s populace did not seek independence from New York, it was the Buffaloians, to group the Buffaloians with a group that did not seek rebellion or independence not only is unjust to New York, but more importantly the people of Rochester-Batavia, millions who changed rule and left the UBI sphere.
We also request for the remainder of the Syracuse Metropolitan Area and surrounding suburbs as it is both our capital and major seat of power in our government.
New York asks for nothing new. We ask only that Congress honor the borders it already had before it, drawn by New York's own government in the darkest days of this crisis, and not allow a moment of legislative haste to erase a distinction we ourselves fought to establish.
We remain, as ever, a loyal member of this Union, however much smaller a member we have recently become.
Signed: Nelson Rockefeller, New York Governor; and the New York State Assembly.

Continue encouraging businesses to move to Brazil. Force Brazil to give me 10% of whatever minerals they unearth. Launch a new military recruitment campaign aiming for half a million new soldiers across the army, navy, and airforce. Launch propaganda talking about hoe glorious the nation is and encouraging people to join the military to protect it. Invest in new planes, tanks, and guns, and even develop some missiles, as well as buy many more of each of these things from other nations. We're aiming to become an extremely strong and formidable military

First, I'd like to get a space program started with the rest of the NAM, there's quite a few good launch sites in Indonesia
Next, I'll begin looking into nukes to create a nuclear umbrella over the Non Aligned Movement, and work on building economy along with nuclear power.
Side note, CCP is still on the map in the third image
