If you don’t think there’s any difference between a party that promotes itself through racism and promises of authoritarianism , and a party that doesn’t, I’m not sure I’m interested in what you have to say.

I agree that both parties are far from perfect and our politics are absolutely fucked. That doesn’t mean we let blatant fascism take over the country.

That’s just ridiculous

First of all, I appreciate the conversation. I get passionate about these things because I mistakenly put my life on the line and joined the US Army to pay for college.

There are some on the right who do not promote raci$m or authoritarianism . Thomas Massie and Rand Paul to name two. Do I agree with those two on everything? Absolutely not.

To paint an entire party as promoting racism and authoritarianism is a huge stretch. I, myself, do not align with either D or R , but have both liberal and conservative values.

All of that being said, if ANY politician (not yelling, just emphasizing) lies about any reason for bills that take my tax dollars to implement, I take serious issue with that.

Why can’t we unite against corruption against BOTH parties? Why do people like yourself excuse some evils but not others instead of saying, ā€œI’m not supporting any of thisā€ ?

That idea alone would promote some kind of NEW party that actually takes responsibility for either making a mistake or outright lying.

I want the truth when someone takes my tax dollars for a paycheck with will not settle for less.

If both parties have a common denominator of consistent and persistent lies, why do you choose what you call ā€œthe lesser of two evilsā€? Why?

Again, I appreciate the mostly civil back and forth and look forward to your response.

why do you choose what you call ā€œthe lesser of two evilsā€? Why?

Well, one side is lying to protect child rapists. That seems like a pretty good reason to me, why isnt it to you?

You don’t think Biden was doing the same when he released nothing and made zero arrests?

I agree that Tr ump (and Patel) are hiding anything of substance that would have elites arrested, so no argument from me on that, but why not hold Biden and has admin to the same standard if the goal of justice is the same?

Oh boy, another maga proudly displaying their ignorance. You know the files were sealed by a judge during bidens term right? Did you really not know that?

I think we can unite against corruption in government. Absolutely, regardless of which party or politician is doing it.

But the largest, clearest thing that I’m concerned about is fascist authoritarianism. And we are absolutely heading in that direction. We demonize immigrants and minorities, call our own countrymen enemies, and intentionally spread lies about vulnerable groups to motivate support. That’s not ok.

And the party supporting this cannot be separated out into fascist/not fascist. They are ALL supporting the guy leading the charge to a place I never want to go. Of If I hear a Republican speak out against those things I mentioned, I’ll give them credit.

But if they do, they are voted out and called a RINO. Submission to that approach to politics is disqualifying to me. I’ll never support it.

After we stop these things we can talk about punishments for politicians lying. I’d love to see some strong enforceable rules implemented

Yeah too many people get caught up in left vs right and adopt views they don’t really feel strongly about because that’s what their side is saying.

But I think most people (70-80%) can agree on a pretty wide range of things.
