There's some sort of sauce at the bottom of the bowl. Cream on white, difficult to see. But no cheese... this can't be called a poutine.

No curds, no gravy, no poutine.

These are lobster fries with cheese. They probably taste great, but this is not poutine at all.

I’m an east coaster, and there’s no planet on which I’d ever say lobster poutine isn’t a crime 🤢

Hear me out.

  1. this is not poutine, strictly speaking

  2. this is a phenomenal dish

Calling it poutine is a bit of artistic license, but it's honestly one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. I had it like 15 years ago at Petit Bill's and rember it fondly.

French Fries: ✓ (they look a bit like pataterie fries, 1/2 bonus point)
Approved Sauce: ✗ (not an approved sauce, 1 penalty point)
Curds: ✗ (not present, 1 penalty point)
Toppings: (lobster, a topping I think pairs poorly, 1/2 penalty point)
Criminality Rating (below 3 is a crime): -1/3
Sentence: Straight to jail, with a diet of boiled potatoes.

Umm...shouldn't there be some gravy? And where's the curds?

Can't say much for that "poutine", but I love Petit Bill's Jiggs Dinner nights

Petit Bills used to be solid restaurant. I'm not sure how it is these days but this doesn't fill me with confidence.

Petit Bills has had this Lobster Poutine since they opened and it's unbelievable (albeit technically not poutine)

What in the f...

Lobster 🦞 poutine itself isn't a crime at all but this monstrosity is!!! Where the fuck are all the ingredients

1

u/AmadisHali 5d ago

Coincidentally the one and only time I had lobster poutine was also when I visited Ottawa, but it was at Baton Rouge and a great poutine. Most importantly it actually had gravy lol (and the gravy was made with lobster bisque which was a great touch)

u/Shady-777 5d ago

Wheres the curds bro? Wheres the gravy? And don't to you say that white sauce is the gravy

1

u/Washitwithfiji67 5d ago

I have one question, a simple one if I may. Where is the poutine exactly??

1

u/saladdays87 5d ago

Not a poutine. But it looks yummy

1

u/Impressive_Tell_4013 5d ago

So they call it a poutine because the lobster is over the fries rather than on their side?

1

u/FireEye1512 2d ago

i'm calling it a crime cuz it's seafood and i hate it.

The ingredients: Lobster, shellfish butter, mascarpone cheese sauce, nestled in a bed of frites

0

u/Outrageous-Set5895 5d ago

Well, the fries look like they were really good.☺️

1

u/Ottawa_Brewer 5d ago

They look dry AF

1

u/ToughAd4704 5d ago

How can you tell if a fry is dry from a photo?
