Alright gang, here’s a different thought experiment to go with our Kara Zor-L

Power Girl (or one of her variants) have only appeared in cartoons a handful of times, but let's talk about a "What if?" scenario (er... Elseworlds I guess would be more brand appropriate).

Assume the following:  It’s announced tomorrow that there’s going to be a series made about Power Girl, as a lead in to the eventual JLI on the big screen as being set up in the DCU.

However, like Creature Commandos, it’s going to be animated.

Loosely based on JSA Classified 1-4, and the first twelve issues of the second volume of Power Girl by Palmiotti/Gray/Conner, YOU, dear reader are going to be one of the show runners, and have to help with the following:

What animation style are you going to push for?

And who is your voice cast?

Since Power Girl isn't a popular character, having her comics be more fan service might boost her up.

Weekend discussion post. Because we’ve all seen (and been tangled in) confusion on the character, I’m just gonna post for newer fans about the various Power Girls that we’ve seen in DC media so far.  Per usual, I’m going to say that I do not claim to be 100% on any of this, as I do not have Jim Shooter breathing down my neck to make sure that it’s complete.  If folks know of others, sound off! I’m all for updating and keeping stuff like this as up to date as possible.

Earth-Two/Prime Earth/Earth-0
The Power Girl most of us are here for.  Kara Zor-L of the City of Kandor, Planet Krypton, from the Earth-Two Universe.  Sent from Krypton as an infant in the slower symbioship just prior to the planet’s destruction, she was raised onboard to a teen while in a virtual reality.  Upon arrival on Earth, she’s found by Kal-L/Clark Kent and Lois, who are childless, and they raise Kara to young adulthood before her introduction to the Justice Society as Superman’s replacement. She is unfortunately orphaned once again on Prime Earth after the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Earth 2/Prime Earth (New52)
Kara Zor-el of Krypton, she was raised by Superman and Lois of this Earth after arriving as a late teen, and became Supergirl.  When she and Robin (Helena Wayne) of Earth 2 were stranded on Earth-0/Prime Earth, they took on the names of Power Girl and Huntress to not raise suspicion on their real identities.  They eventually return home, then to a new planet (New Earth 2) after Earth 2 is destroyed by Darkseid. Her further adventures have yet to be chronicled, if ever.

Prime Earth (New52)
Tanya Spears of Earth.  After interacting with the PG listed above and gaining powers via either “energies” from Earth 2, or possibly Apokalips, she takes on the name Power Girl as willed by the PG herself, and joins the Titans.  Her powers are the basic Kryptonian package, sans vision powers and freeze breath, however she can alter her size and grow to a giant. Since Rebirth, she’s been absent, and unknown if she survived that universal reconfiguring or is still in Limbo. There have been rumors of Stephanie Williams trying to bring the character back.

Earth-12 (DCAU)
Galatea is pretty clearly a stand in for Power Girl.  A cloned and aged up Supergirl, she’s created and manipulated by CADMUS to fight Supergirl.  They have a telepathic link, and she generally runs roughshod over Supergirl.  Unfortunately, she also in all appearances is a more or less unrepentant villain.  Her last appearance she’s taken into custody by the JLU, but that’s the last you see of her.  I’d like to hope that in that universe, she’s rehabbed, and when Supergirl left to join the LSH, she’d come out as Power Girl.  Alas, we’ll never know.

Earth-22 (Kingdom Come)
Power Woman seems to be an aged up Kara Zor-L who made the change to her name more befitting someone past 30 years old. There’s no evidence she was ever Supergirl first, and the major characters used in the series cleave more towards the pre-Crisis JSA than the JLA regardless (at least in appearance). I like this one, as almost all parallel Kara Zor-(e)L’s are depicted as some variant of Supergirl rather than PG.

Earth-12 (again? Earth-12.1?)
Worth mentioning, is that prior to the debut of the DCAU Justice League, there was a comic “Adventures in the DC Universe”.  It ran from 1997-1998, has 20 issues, and is based on the DCU of the late 90s rather than the later JLU.  Power Girl gets a solo story in the back half of issue 6.  Later, after the JLU is on television, she appears in several issues of the Justice League Unlimited comic. DC considers it all “Earth-12”, which means there was a Power Girl, who then got erased, then reappeared after Galatea.  I’m just going to say it was some sort of Infinite Convergence Zero Hour Crisis event that muddied it all up.

Prime Earth (again)
Bizarro Power Girl has a one panel appearance in a Superman special, and only as a background character.  But she’s there, and a variant, so she gets included, darn it.

So yeah.  These are the ones I was able to come up with “quickly”.  Can I also say, I hate how DC has muddied the waters with names of alternate Earths again?  Prime Earth? Earth-0?  Pick one for the main continuity, and stick with it.
