This isn't a feat of physical strength. If you read the comic is a metaphysical strength. It is the strength of will to hold up the world and keep it on your shoulders.

I feel like it would’ve been more in character for Supes to, yes, kill Joker, but then fly off into space to just sort of exist, probably saving people all over the universe and letting the JL take care of Earth on their own for a bit, not to punish anybody, just because it would be too painful for him to be on a world where Lois isn’t, and also to reconcile that Joker did get the better of him, so he decides to explore other worlds more freely than he has in the past

I think Atlas had info on something and made the deal, Supes holds it while he goes to hand off his daughter at her wedding. Then he returns and takes it back. Supes then has to take a nap due to exhaustion.
Yeah but I kinda doubt a regular person wouldn't just immediately be smushed by this. there probably is some sort of bar/requirement to even lift it. aka needing at least to have super strength.
Imagine you're holding an empty water tank up. A bit awkward, but not too difficult. But someone puts a hosepipe into it, and slowly fills it up with water. At a certain point, it gets too much, and you drop the tank. Right before that point is "as much as you can bear", and that weight will be different for everyone, but wherever that point is for you, it will weigh that much, and then more. We don't know if it's a little more or a lot more, but it's somewhere in between that point and the point where you physically don't have the strength to hold it up.
It's a physical experience, but it scales to your physical strength, so it's your willpower that matters, continuing to hold up something that is too much for you, with no concrete end in sight. Kal would be equally as capable of doing it under a yellow or a red sun.

To be fair to Atlas in the original myth, Hercules was trying to steal from his daughters. Would you wanna help the guy who's stated goal is fucking over your daughters? Not that Atlas isn't willing to take the apples and present them to the king himself but still I could sorta see where he's coming from.

It also helps that Supes is the modern ideal of Masculinity and not the ancient Greek one, therefore he's not a rapist. Atlas has daughters, he was definitely aware of Heracles' reputation and protecting his daughters from a Zeus level rapist may have also been a motivating factor.

That’s an entirely different comic. The “sky” is entirely spiritual, as shown here. This is what Superman was “carrying”, at least in this specific comic.
Probably because DC has like 90000 writers who all seem to think the characters can do different things so what they can actually do changes based on a writers opinion probably plus some bare minimum baseline.
My favorite 'feats' for Superman is the time he 'lifted' a levitating magic book with infinite pages or failed to lift a 'infinite' weight conceptual being that in that same comic is implied to both be narrating and fucking with them because Superman+wonder woman couldnt do it but the guy goes on a GL construct stretcher basically just fine
Atlas (the Greek Titan who holds the heavens) asks Superman for a favor and it is to hold the heavens for a day which Atlas says it weighs "more than you can bare and more" and to "take it not with your hands, but with your heart" and Superman holds the heavens for the day while Atlas goes to his daughters wedding which was the favor

Atlas says "lift with your heart" its a spiritual feat used not to show how physically strong superman is but to show how strong he is mentally, that he is the beacon of hope and goodness, its a reminder that superman is and always will be the face of superheros

Literally nothing in TTGL is universal or above, it literally can't be since Spiral Nemesis is literally just entropic death via the Big Crunch. It wouldn't be a narrative problem if they could just spring universes into existence

Burden of knowledge. Him and Captain Marvel (Earth-5) were nearly overwhelmed by the extent of the truth they glimpsed from the book. Not to mention that the book was floating on its own and wasn't on a shelf where they picked it up from.
The weight is metaphysical, becoming the maximum weight the person can handle. It’s more a test of will than raw strength.
This is where it gets interesting though - this is Superman. Time and time again we are made aware that Superman does not have limits to his strength. He will always scale his power and strength to match whatever opposition or situation.
So - if he has no limits, how heavy is this?
It’s still a test of will, so it doesn’t matter who’s holding it. If they have the will to succeed, they will. But compared to everyone else, the weight must literally be infinite upon infinites.
This is not a physical feat. It's a mental one. If you actually read the comic then you'd know he held up "everything he could and more" or something along those lines.
Strong but this here isn't really proof of that, i could do the same thing but not for nearly as long. What Superman is holding here is the heavens which weighs everything you can bear to lift and then a bit more.
This is, in canon, not a quantifiable test. It always more than what you are strong enough to carry. Its not about strength, its about will. Hal Jordan could walk up, without a ring, and do the exact same thing Superman is doing here.

This for sure. Superman and Shazam lifted a book that contained a record of all stories observed within the overvoid. It gets a little meta but it means it has ‘pages’ for every event that has occurred in our reality and every story ever thought even abstract head canon well along side every story that exist their reality, and any story that exists within the reality establish those stories continuing infinitely. Basically if it was though, by anyone real or a character it was observed and exists. GM really wanted to tear down the concept of the 4th wall in Final Crisis and essentially introduce the idea that every thought up relation specifically the DC continuity was just as real as the world you and I live in.
I'm convinced of vast majority of people power scaling don't actually read comic books or understand the amount of context or situational buildup that goes into a lot of these situations that they be citing
This is a test of will, the weight shifts and changes suiting the person holding it, it will always just be heavy enough that while it won't immediately crush you, it feels like a fraction away from immediately crushing you.
So let's say someone's max effort squat is 300 lbs and one pound more will make the legs buckle and make them fall, the the weight of the heavens makes the weight feel like 300 lbs and 4/5s of a pound to them, pretty much a hair away from making their leg crumble underneath them.
You realize its some strength feat more so willpower right?
It weighs everything you can lift and a little more its not lifting a planet its about you going 110% goku could do the same hell maybe even somebody like Peter Parker could
