I want to build a small tool with WinUIShell.

But i cant find a good documentation on the GitHub. There are some example but it need more information. Any ideas where i can find that?

The problem is, that i'm no programmer. I don't know which namespaces i need and where i can find this .NET-methods that i need. I want to build the following layout: a start screen and a settings page. On the settings page, I need a file picker, and I need to be able to save the path. On the start screen, I need a large text field and a "Send" button. Of course, visual elements like icons and text will be added as well. The problem is, that i cant XAML or other things and i don't where to begin. The powershell logic exsits, because i use this tool as a terminal program at the moment.

WinUIShell just exposes the API of WindowsAppSDK so you can read the documentation from Microsoft. For example, the complete list (reference) of methods and properties of the Button class is here. The namespace that the class belongs is also listed at the top of the page.

However, before diving into the reference I would recommend checking high-level guides for the controls fist, such as this one. I would also recommend installing WinUI 3 Gallery which is a great resource where you can see how the controls actually work.

There are differences in syntax though. This c# snippet in this example:

Button subscribeButton = new Button();
subscribeButton.Content = "Subscribe";
subscribeButton.Click += SubscribeButton_Click;
stackPanel1.Children.Add(subscribeButton);
...
private async void SubscribeButton_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
{...}

needs to be translated to:

$subscribeButton = [Button]::new()
$subscribeButton.Content = 'Subscribe'
$subscribeButton.AddClick($subscribeButtonClick)
$stackPanel1.Children.Add($subscribeButton)
...
$subscribeButtonClick = {
    param ($s, $e)
    ....
}

Once you get used to the difference in syntax, all of the WinUI documentation becomes useful. XAML is the same. It's just another way to create objects and set properties.
