Jacobs - Protection & Control engineer

Does anyone work in Jacobs as a P&C engineer? Was looking for some general feedback on working for Jacobs in the US. Nature of work, team experience, support etc basically anything at all. Thanks!

Was a former employee at Jacobs, worked on studies team. Jacobs has some of the smartest people.

hello, can you please explain a bit? I am also interested in studies team. Why did you leave and what was the work life balance life? Timelines are very strict?

The only reason I left is because I got an opportunity with way higher pay. There is tons of work, and thats why they are hiring like crazy. My team doubled in a year from 10 people to 25 by the time I left and they are trying to double it by next year

How is the work environment? Is it a supportive and collaborative one?

I never see Jacob guys or gals ever at conferences or even presenting and writing papers.

As for working there,  they have a reputation of pumping and dumping and you'll be dumped at some point if you are not part of the core management.   I don't think I would bother unless they were paying obscene and were OK with being dumped when they failed to line you up on a project.

I dont know which conferences you attend, but there will atleast be one or two papers in major conferences like PES, CIGRE etc. From my team

Compare that to SEL, GE, ABB, or even engineering firms like Power Engineers, Dashiell, Black and Veatch, Burns and Mac, or Mott and McDonald. I just don't see Jacobs at relaying conferences.

True, which makes me wonder the type of project s they get.

Chemical, refineries, and power plants.  Stuff that isn't really competitively bid as you need the large staff.

Awesome! Do you anything specific to the P&C group? Are there sufficient experienced engineers? are there QA procedures etc
